Leenock's loss was his fault. TheWind got 4gates as I remember on a map perfect for that. He then got totally outplayed by Boxer. Didn't watch Check game today. My point exactly. The reason there are fewer Zergs is because they were outplayed by better players, not because of map imbalances. Bo1 might work for SC1, but that game is much different, better balanced and got much better maps. I it pointless to compare it with Sc2. You've got to start out somewhere. If you're going to go by a Bo3 system because of "potential imbalance arguments" later switching it to a Bo1 system wouldn't make sense, when Bo1 in a balanced environment would be less time constraining later when the game is more balanced. Personally, I think that letting it remain a Bo1 system would make pro players become better and learn faster. And besides, the group stage is technically a Bo3 where you get eliminated from losing 2 games. Frankly, you have about the same chance of losing twice to a SINGLE lesser skilled player in a Bo3 as losing twice to TWO lesser skilled players in the current format. As for your complain about why no one has been doing anything about the maps. I shall redirect your attention to: http://www.teamliquid.net/forum/viewmessage.php?topic_id=182734

Map imbalances ok u can whine about that. But you are saying Zerg has it so hard? There are 4 Protoss and 3 Zerg is this such a huge difference? If you talked about Terran okay maybe u have some valid proof to say why they are so strong or something but saying that there is only T&P left is ridiculous. Just stop the nonsense please. The distributions are 3Zergs 4Protoss and 9 Terrans. No Terran has won a GSL yet while 2 zerg and a protoss has won one. Last 3 seasons Terran was dominating the top8 of each season. If anything I would say that Terran should be the ones whining instead. What you say about Bo1 would be true if the game was balanced, and we all know that is still not the case. I didn't count the protoss that went through, but now that you mention it, it is not good. When I said only T&P were left, I was talking about people that come and watch and post on TL. All the zerg whining practically went away after the GSL1 when that patch came and FD won although things didn't change that much (except for 1 month tops), MK made sure of that. Nestea was a single player that didn't win because of this race but better playing and understanding of the game at that moment. The korean tournament this weekend tells us that tale as well with 7T+1Z in Ro8. Anyways, my point is zerg players are not complaining anymore because there are just less of them.

I'm not going to talk about imbalances because a tournament like GSL or another doesn't say anything about that which you think it is. Not everyone knows it's imbalanced and no one can state it is unless it's Blizzard because they have the numbers for it which you and me don't. You basically are complaining that there isn't much Zerg players whining compared to GSL1 when you show me a korean tournament which has 7T and 1Z in the ro8 but no P and still complaining more than a P? I'm a P player and I just take it as it is and I'm not even going to whine about that because if it is imbalanced Blizzard will notice and patch it. They've done it before they will do it in the future. Your point just doesn't make sense to me. Your point is just to make Zerg players complain more than they are doing now?

1. There were 14 Terrans to start off this competition with. (If you look at it as 5 Terrans, 5 Protoss and 6 Zergs eliminated, it suddenly starts looking a little bit more "balanced") 2. There are more "well known, upper tier" Terran players - MVP, MKP, Jinro, Nada, Boxer, Clide, Rainbow, Ensnare and Maka are all good, proven top tier 1 and 2 players. Where else Zergs only have Nestea, FD, Zenio, Idra, Leenock and Kyrix while Protoss only have Genius, Tester, MC, HongUn and Inca. If you look closely, the tournament has proceeded pretty much as predicted with the only real upset being Maka and HongUn. Every other top tier players who've missed out (eg FD, Inca, Ensnare) only missed out because their groups were extremely competitive. So I don't think there's a reason to be worried about racial or map imbalances in this GSL. The players seem to be getting along fine.

You cant look at it like that... when there are more Terrans from start ofcause there should also be more terrans to go out for it to be "balanced". 64% of the Terrans who did enter made it through.

Well it's not perfect I guess, but I was just suggesting another way of looking at it. I don't really care though, as long as we're seeing good games and the truely deserving players going through. (which leads to the second argument I put, which is probably more worth noting.) Ultimately, to me, the true test of who really is the best will come later as we get to the quarterfinals onwards.

It's called statistical error... And when the sample size is small, +-10 to 15% error is not that uncommon. If we assume that half of the Terrans would get knocked out, then it's only 2 more players who qualified comparing to the assumption.

I'm assuming that 84% of people are either in favor or against that match. Can someone clarify? Also, Jinro and Idra fighting!
