Really, GSL4 will be very interesting, now that every race have their icon player. I want FruitDealer to claim his zerg crown back, he's a better baller than NesTea.

Sorry guys, there's 87 thousand dollars on the line and the players are going to choose to use the gameplans that they feel will make them the most likely to win. The purpose of these games is not your entertainment, it's to determine the winner of the tournament. Rain pulls off a very well executed tank-heavy timing attack in game 1, and MC very skillfully deflects it in a game that everyone on these forums would have lost. I thought it was very exciting, and forum posters are just complaining "one base cheese" and "no skill". On Xel'naga Caverns, Rain completely throws off his opponent with a clever fake-out, cripples MC with banshees... but holy crap, MC is actually somehow defending it! It's just barely not good enough though, and Rain grabs the win in a game I thoroughly enjoyed. I check the forums and see "lame cheeser" "that's the only way Rain can win". On Steppes, MC gets scouted while trying to proxy, but just goes for it anyway. I never thought I'd see a game like this at a pro level, and was shocked to see how powerful it is. This game was both entertaining AND educational... if I ever play PvT on Steppes I have to try this in-your-face proxy, it seems completely unbeatable for anyone but the best pros in the world. But of course, the forum posts are nothing but hate. I loved watching all of these games and was hoping to find excited comments from other people who were also enjoying them, but this thread turned into nothing but a pile of whining and hating (with some exceptions of course). If I wanted to read stuff like this I'd read the comments on games on Youtube. I really wish the mods would get strict again, and deal with this mess. Well, thank goodness there was at least no balance discussion tonight. And I'd like to thank the minority of TL posters who made reading this thread worthwhile. Game 2 was just awesome, best PvT game of SC2 to date, this was a great GSL Finals if yo uask me...

Heavy maurodeur and a couple of banshees maybe? maurader + thor would own that mix, thor with the cannon strike just roflstomps immortals, and welll marauders, we all know what they do. But then again MC seems to make maruaders disappear.

Thors with 250mm cannon + marauder support (and/or ghosts with EMP) would be the ideal counter, but that's not exactly a quick and easy tech switch to make. Hit-and-run with MMM while dodging storms could possibly work. Immortal/HT is definitely a strong combination, much stronger than I would have guessed. You hardly ever see unit compositions like that in pro games... I really appreciate seeing MC showing us more of how protoss can be played. And finally warp prisms see some real action!

But, looks like he solved the nerves issue. As to the game, it was a bit more like GSL1, but not as frustrating as watching Rainbow use the same build 5 times in a row. Rain really played very well throughout the Finals, but it was definitely obvious that MC was the superior player. But he put up a good fight. And, Rain is pretty solid, but the hate is all about the Ro8 match against Nestea, where the no-down-vote map selection completely screwed Nestea out of the tournament. That's where the hate was from. Rain deserved to win the rest of his matches (at least that I saw, I think I missed the match against Genuis), but was pretty obvious he was abusing a build & map line up for the win, and yet still almost lost to Nestea. In total, there needs to be either fixed map sets, new maps or at least some down-voting of maps. There's a reason Blistering Sands & Jungle Basin were never really seen much.

One thing I dont think people understand about E-sports, is that its not like regular sports where the game HAS A FRICKEN TIME LIMIT. Every football/basketball/soccer game has a pre-determind legnth of time. This is being shown on tv, meaning they have to fill an exact amount of time, with matches that could be 40 minutes, or could be 5 minutes, I for one applaud Gom on how they keep it somewhat interesting. 30 minutes with an awesome performance though. I really hate all of the breaks in between games because it's just downtime with nothing interesting. It wouldn't be as bad if they had entertaining stuff in between games like the Tasteless song.

Too bad there is only so much community generated content that is actually worthy of being aired inbetween games.

I won't measure it, but I don't believe you. Football game has 90 minutes including pauses. When not paused ball is on the move definitely more than 50 percent of time, I don't think there is 65 minutes of pauses in footbal game, so .... Anyway I loved the finals. MC was definitely better, even in the game he lost his skill looked much better, that in itself says a lot. As for people complaining about long pauses, just look at some other sports, the filler there takes often much more time. If you still don't like it, just watch VODs and not live. And I loved his "BM", i take it as all in good fun, whether he means it like that ot not.

Seriously, this thread is just a flood of "LOL GG PROTOSS" or "PROTOSS NEED A NERF". This game is still young, give Blizzard some time to adjust (avoided the word "balance") it. Still waiting for a section where only top / good / serious (pick what you want) players could write and answer each other to read interresting things. ![]() Anyway, thanks to the translators and generally TL for the coverage this year, hope we will see something more interresting in 2k11. you make sure to avoid the word balance, but then you specifically call attention to balance by precising that you avoided the word balance? counter productive imo
