It seems every GSL is actually getting less exciting to me, not more so. Maybe that will improve in the future? ![]()

You cant really blame the maps or the race, losing on Blistering and winning on Stepps then losing to some stupid timing attack which could have been defended. (he scouted the 2 rax at start and still lost some drones, then no expo by MVP should be clear of his intention ...) Idra is very consistent, qualifying for all three GSL's and making it past Ro64 in all three (past Ro32 in GSL 2). He may not be #1 most talented player of all time, but I think he'll continue getting good results for as long as he wants to play SCII. On December 02 2010 00:57 Deadeight wrote: LOL. Jinro's second game about 11 mins in. Tasteless compliments Jinro on his marine positioning, Artosis starts laughing as Tasteless keeps digging and Artosis just says a long the lines of "yeah and those rocks helped quite a bit with that". Yeah that was hilarious ... I felt bad for Tasteless.

Love your upgrade path, 1 ebay, 1 armory off 2 base, getting those crucial attack upgrades. Have you considered getting combat shields before stim? seems more solid.

Jinro's play, in my opinion, bodes well for the future of the game because of how effective he's able to be while playing a macro style that's otherwise not really been seen in Korea. It might be too soon to expect meta-game shifts in this GSL, but I wouldn't be at all surprised to see more macro type play in future seasons.

It's because Terran realized it was a stable opening. Conceptually it isn't any worse than the classic PvZ 2gate opening. As Foxer/Boxer have shown, it's evolved from an all-in build to a econ-oriented one.

Sounds good in theory but as long as 2 rax marine remains utterly crippling in TvZ, we won't see much past that.

I feel dissapointed by Idra, ive always had high hopes for him. IdrA has been one of the more consistent performers in the GSL. GSLs are tough--even if you're great, stuff can easily go wrong. Fruit won the first GSL then went down hard and early in the 2nd. Guys like MVP always look great but until now haven't gotten that far. Tester blew everyone away in the first season, and hasn't qualified since. Rainbow makes the top 4 twice, then gets his ass kicked right away in the 3rd season. Jinro fails to qualify twice, and now he looks great and has an excellent shot at S-class. Nobody has yet shown that they can consistently dominate. For IdrA to make Ro32, Ro16, Ro32 is pretty damn good, and chances are he'll be seeded reasonably high among S-class players. He could definitely win it all in the future still.

Just watched the IdrA series. He played so well game 1 and especially game 2, but I think by the 3set MVP was wise to his build.Great play IdrA, tough luck to meet such a strong player so early.

Without complaining about balance or map pools, I'd just like to say the fairly repetitive nature of this GSL has me uninterested in everything except the future of Jinro in this tournament. Ironically, for all that people call them dull, Protoss have probably been the most interesting this season (Jinro aside). There are far too many terran all-ins, and macro Zerg has become fairly predictable as well. At least with Toss this season we're finally seeing a lot of Stargate units used effectively, which wasn't true in previous GSLs. That said, there have definitely been some classic matches, including TvZs. IdrA vs MVP and Jinro vs. Moon were both great, and Clide vs. Leenock may be the best Bo3 in any GSL yet.

Ya I wasn't commenting on the viability of the opening, just on the fact that Artosis has to constantly try to get excited about it over and over again.

He clinched his Code S though, which for the long term is so important for his growth and future opportunities. He would have been in a rather poor spot if he hadn't (IMO). Go IdrA! Getting Code S means you get to play against the best of the best all next year!

To be fair he really threw away an advantage in game1. He had stabilised, he had the third going up but he just didn't micro well enough when protecting that 3rd expansion. I'm gutted for him but I mean this is what I think we realistically expected to happen.
