The only reason that map is considered good for zerg is because it is balanced. Unfortunately that is very rare in the map pool...so zerg is getting absolutely screwed by this non-veto garbage. For the record, zerg is my least favorite race.

Looks like Best completely outplayed Ret , he was much bether than the 2 previous terans and he had some great strategies.

It's funny how both Idra and Ret tend to overdrone, and when someone exploits it, he gets flamed. What about actually being careful when your opponent one-bases?

To be honest think about it. Those vikings fucking hurt ret so much. 1 viking getting 5 ovies=500 minerals. Then when the fight was going on he got even more ovies=lost resources he could of used in his army.

LiquidRet looses because of the (Terran-favoring) 2nd and 3rd maps Steppes of War and Jungle Basin of which he had no means whatsoever to vote down. Now that's a bummer...

To clarify: TheBestfOu definitely played well, but so did LiquidRet. Ret also didn't really overdrone, the maps per se greatly deny to Zerg what Zerg needs to NOT overdrone: time to react to the enemy's play. For Steppes of War, the base-to-base run distance is very short, the spots where one as Zerg can scout the enemy very limited (e.g. right behind the brush distance when Terran has no flyers, overlord at the destructible rocks).

LiquidRet could of course have played a little bit more carefully, building more units, but then TheBestfOu could just have delayed his timing push a little bit and force LiquidRet to basically "waste" his larvae by not using them, gaining an economic advantage.

This similarly applies to Jungle Basin where there are very few locations Zerg can obtain enemy intel plus the few locations (e.g. at the natural, left to the main base) are not all-too relevant for the core army movement. LiquidRet's intel was basically limited to the entrance to his main base throughout the game, rendering him almost impossible to properly using his larvae, i.e. properly decide between drones and units.

LiquidRet could and probably should have fought for more map control but had pretty much no means whatsoever to do that after TheBestfOu's initial pushes on the maps, constricting LiquidRet to his main base. And THIS is the main issue for the two maps Steppes of War and Jungle Basin: once restricted, Zerg has very few means to regain map control in an economically cost-efficient fashion in early to early mid game. For Jungle Basin, the destructible rocks at the back of the natural take quite long to tear down and the run distance from the rocks to the main entrance, allowing for surrounds / flanking, is too long. This similarly applies to Steppes of War.

Hm... This makes me thinking: are Nydus Worms and/or Burrow underused on those maps, which allow for according favorable positioning?

0/3 liquibet, this is going to be 0/4 for sure. fml, what a bad day.

i hope gomtv is going to reconsider giving the players a veto for the maps. because this system is crap, like the maps that blizzard made. i hope gomTV invites professional korean mapmakers for the GSL 2011, this was mentioned in SotG and this has to be done.
