VampireLady's handling of the situation was down largely to her inexperience, and the failure of the other admins at the time to take responsibility for making the hard decision to give DeathAngel the ultimatum. It's a lot harder than it sounds to tell a player "play now or forfeit"
Actually, if you as an admin find it hard to tell anyone to play right now or forfeit the tournament so the tourney keep its flow you are not the right person for the task and should probably not be admin for this kind of tournament, IMO.
i dont know her and have nothing against her, but the way she handled this was just unprofessional and bad... I can understand fury's rage always bad to have a admin who is friends with one of the players.

All? But her GG-predictions are impeccable, top 3 timing in the world.
I'm not even joking about the GG-prediction part. I haven't seen a lot of her casting but the few times I did I noticed exactly that. Every game when she went "this should be GG/we should see GG" then BOOM, GG. Usually the casters are all over the place with their predicitions. I kept watching to find out if she was just lucky or what, and she still didn't fail.
Maybe she saw the GG and then made the predictions? Didn't seem like that all and it was live. I need more data, I want to know!

I totally agree... but I have some things to say.
I am friends with some players and I am Game Head Coordinator at the ESL office. Sometimes I do online admin work or help to resolve arguments. I never take sides, I am always looking for the right decision, it is actually a challenge and very interesting to know many rules and to be able to give a good service for a cup or offline tournament. Why would I take sides? I would have to decide which person I like better and my decision could harm the tournament. So with a passion for eSports and a passion for SC2 in particular I do not see how I could not be friends with some of the players. I can judge on situations that need admining without personal involvement, I assure you that.
One sentence about me: I have been doing admin work since I was 13 years old (I turn 28 in July, have been at ESL 5 years, I have a Masters title in Media).
Admins have to be immune to flames and they have to be neutral at all times. They also have to remember at all times that cultural differences and the communication through written chats can cause misunderstandings. Therefore they have to avoid irony and always be as clear as possible. Admins serve the tournament, they do not server their ego. Therefore they need a strong character - or in other words they have to be grown-ups with a natural sense for fairness and good communication skills. A good sense of humour can help. =)
In this DA/ Fury situation many people did on IRC not stay calm and they started flaming pretty harshly. I am sure nobody is proud about that afterwards so I hope many people will also grab their own nose and try to be more clear and more friendly next time.
ESL's SC2 EU (Sims, Santo, Keeper to name a few) admins are clever and they know that the loudest person complaining is not always the person who is right. The more you flame and rage the more difficult it will be to help you (the gamers, the viewers).
I would like to say (because I read in the previous posts that the ESL SC2 staff used to be consistent and united in all decisions 6 months ago) that we are still consistent and still proud to be one of the most sophisticated admin teams in the world. Trial admins (or TLAs) have to be allowed to make mistakes. Especially if its people volutarily spending their time to do something for the community. And before I hear criticism about voluntary work: The ESL has the biggest staff of paid full time eSports admins in the world. Most of our full time admins in the office have proven that they are fit for this job by being good voluntary admins before they were hired. This system allows us to coach new admins professionally and therefore we have a very high standard. Of course not all trial admins become admins. Some will realize that admining is not right for them, some will not be able to fit our requirements.
Flaming and raging is the weapon of the weak and it hinders the tournament flow. Actually, I do not get flamed a lot. This year I got flamed exactly once, by an ESL user, in my guestbook. He got a 2 year ban in ESL because he cheated. He was caught by ESL Wire Anti Cheat and he wanted to vent his anger. He did not even know who I was - he was just looking for profiles of ESL admins and he called me a fat cow...=) That kind of insult by someone who buys cheats to be a pain in the ass to other gamers who abide by the rules... that kind of insult...puts a smile on my face I have to admit. Especially on a monday morning.
Fortunately, most ESL users know that friendliness always wins, so some people need a 3pp warning maximum and then they remember their manners and chill out again. It can therefore be compared to the way it is being handled here on TL. First you are warned, then you cannot post anymore. Then you can cool your temper and then you can come back. Sometimes there is no other way unfortunately.
But who am I telling all this to? There are lots and lots of decent clever people on TL, that's why I read many things here... there is some trolls around here too, but that doesn't matter because everywhere you go in life, there will always be some people you do not love as much as others And the new generation of trolling is not necessarily evil... it can be quite witty parodies and jokes that mean no harm.
„Allot of ESL is bullshit EAS , go4sc2 handling rules personal preferences etc there were more dramas then this one and all was done with little sorry or ban of the player ( Morrow) for example i told admins some cups ago that this one is more dodged then joined. The only good thing about ESL is Takesen with his homestory cups and thats about it all their systems are rigged and make hardly any sense. The cups themself with distributing of prizemoney is aswell bad first or nothing much cups adapted to more then just 1. place getting rewarded . All this and more makes me wonder why ESL is still so succesfull with their cups when hardly any top tier players join.“
Be more constructive with your feedback please.
Go4SC2 is Europe's biggest cupseries, it is very popular and it is not made for progamers only. The whole ESL is not a league for progamers only. It has the longest running progaming series outside of Korea (The ESL Pro Series (CS, SC2, CS:S, FIFA...) started 9 years ago and we had 18 seasons in Germany). But our progaming tournaments like Intel Extreme Masters and ESL Pro Series are the crown on top of a big international league for everyone in almost any eSports title.
I can understand that you like the Homestory cup very much, I like it too. But if you like it or not, takesen is reliant on ESL TV and cups such as Go4SC2 to have content for a colorful schedule. He is not at war with ESL TV, he is good friends with the ESL TV team and he is at the ESL office quite regularly.
Go4SC2 is not more dodged than joined, it has usually the maximum of participants, 512 Wednesdays or 1024 at weekends. There is always room to improve any cups but I cannot see where your criticism is constructive.
If you wonder why we are still so successful despite many people flaming us – then I wonder why Starcraft II is still so successful – because when I am online each night playing I could get the impression from all the flames that I hear that Starcraft II and Blizzard are very much hated by everyone. I get to hear this is imba and that that is stupid and how can they be so fucking retarded when will they fix the „please wait before you perform more actions...“...yes, a company we all probably like very much, a game that we enjoy very much, is flamed by the people who like it the most.
Congrats to Adelscott on beating Satiini in the final of Sunday's cup
An interesting tidbit, the fight for #1 Go4SC2 player is incredibly close now, with Kas, Tarson, DieStar, Strelok all within just 11 points of each other

My sincerest apologies to FuRy for how the situation was handled in the beginning.
Before explaining what happened, first some key points for background information:
It is not forbidden to play in other cups at the same time as Go4SC2 BUT if 15 minutes after the scheduled match time you are not available to play, you can be given the ultimatum to "play now or forfeit".
Plenty of players have no problem playing in multiple cups at the same time, and we do not want to deny other players the opportunity (or hurt the community) by disallowing it. We try to make reasonable allowances, but if necessary players will be given the ultimatum.
Moving on, DeathAngel should have played the final against FuRy immediately after winning his semi final match against Harstem. VampireLady, who was a cup admin in training already for a few weeks, had taken responsibility for the match (after adminning the semi final) as is normal for any of our cup admins to do.
Unfortunately, DeathAngel instead went to play a ZOTAC match instead. VampireLady turned to the admin chat for advice but wasn't given clear direction from the other admins available at the time. She should have been told to give DeathAngel the ultimatum immediately.
While she kept in contact with DeathAngel, she tried to disarm FuRy's aggressive waiting with humour - as is her style - but FuRy took it the wrong way, which made him aggressive and then offensive leading her to kick him from the IRC channel.
A few minutes later one of the other admins got the attention of a senior admin to resolve and clam the situation, getting the final played.

As a result of everything that happened last night:
- VampireLady has left the admin team. We thank her for her efforts and wish her luck with her casting
- All admins are being reminded of how to handle situations like last night, simply that in general, 15 minutes after the scheduled match time a player should be given the ultimatum to play or forfeit
- In case of doubt or trouble, they will be reminded that they should get the attention of a senior admin sooner rather than later
