I'm gonna leave it up to someone from go4sc2 to speak for themselves. I'll just say that there where some discussions about the rules and some of the poeple involved in the tournament. Hopefully the admins for the tournament will state something official soon.

It was basically Fury was waiting for DeathAngel who was playing Zotac. Fury didn't know about this and he got told by Vampirelady(admin iirc) that DA had personal problems. FuRy said he waited 1.5 hours, got banned out of the IRC channel for whining, and then When DA showed up and he found out he was just playing another tournament he tilted the first game. He asked for a small break to get his shit together, and then Vampirelady and some other admin started bitching about him stalling, and he just raged a bit there.
Imo it was really ridiculous, esl has some kind of 15-20 min waiting time and then you're DQ'd. They didn't use that rule for DA, but they were threatening FuRy with it, he got mad and they lied to him, so I perfectly understand his rage. DA delayed the finals way more than FuRy did, while FuRy got the shitstorm.
e; This is what I gathered from the streams and reading the bnet chat on the streams.

Allot of ESL is bullshit EAS , go4sc2 handling rules personal preferences etc there were more dramas then this one and all was done with little sorry or ban of the player ( Morrow) for example i told admins some cups ago that this one is more dodged then joined.
The only good thing about ESL is Takesen with his homestory cups and thats about it all their systems are rigged and make hardly any sense.
The cups themself with distributing of prizemoney is aswell bad first or nothing much cups adapted to more then just 1. place getting rewarded .
All this and more makes me wonder why ESL is still so succesfull with their cups when hardly any top tier players join.

its a lot worse when u realize that VampireLady and DA has some sort of weird 2v2 team or something together to and are really close, and she adminned his games, thats beyond sketchy.. when DA joined IRC during this whole debacle this exchange happened:
[20:15:31] * Joins: DeathAngel (webchat@79.114.200.74) [20:15:35] <DeathAngel> hi there [20:15:47] * VampireLady sets mode: +v DeathAngel [20:15:54] <VampireLady> hi luv [20:15:56] <VampireLady> <3
pretty damn sketchy to let her Admin his games. Also the way she lied to Fury about DeathAngel was doing holding his back to play 3 tours and stalling like shit.
edit: Also despite Fury saying no OBS except casters there was bunch of clanmates of DeathAngel in the last game who cheered him on in spec chat and everytime Fury lost a engagement, looks super super bad, this was seen by anyone watching the streams of the game.

If that is true, then you might wanna concider talking to some headguys in the cup about it

I too saw it all on stream. The way ESL handled it was embarrasing... sad :/
The rules are there, why not use em?

VampireLady proving unfit to admin tournaments? I'm truly shocked.

everything in the post above is true. I watched fury´s stream along with about 300 other guys. I dunno if everyone of them is aware of this thread since I´m sure many of them would have posted their anger about the biased admin called vampirelady in this thread.

Okay, that is pretty serious and really really bad
i don't know who to contact, but someone should talk with the league leaders/ESL guys about the issue

I loved Rotterdam's and Takesens' commentary for this cup and in my opinion it is far superior in quality to Vampirelady + random dude who normally does the English commentary. I just wish ESL would make more better use of the talent it has at its disposal. And that's just about Vampirelady as a commentator.
I wasn't watching Fury's stream so I didn't see this stuff, but I have seen Vampirelady acting imo pretty unprofessional in IRC... banning anyone and everyone who she perceives as writing any kind of negative criticisim about her casting, even where that criticism is constructive. I think I saw her ban about 15 - 20 people from chat once in the space of about 10 minutes. And these were not time outs or deleted message but straight up bans without warning. Imo that just reflects badly on her.

Have to agree with this. I have been in obs games with her, I was absolutely shocked to learn she was a league admin.

You cant have biased admins in these things. The real power of the admin team for go4sc2 used to be that no matter who you talked to, you allways got the same answers.
|
I really hope ESL takes action against this, very immature behavior from an admin... saw it all on FuRy's stream.
|
is there any official word from ESL admins?
FuRy should have got default win there.
|
For me, the only reason why I Still watch these cups is because of RotterdaM's cast in English and TaKe's cast in German. They make it exciting, and while the games are good, the downtime between games sometimes is just ridiculous and people who let them wait for that long because they're playing multiple cups should be banned after 15-20 minutes. It's their own rule for christ's sake. Why Vampirelady is an admin is also beyond me, someone like Take or RotterdaM should be the guys who do that, or some random person from the organisation.

VampireLady should not be an admin, and ESL in general needs to stop appointing admins who look to befriend players rather than be admins.
As an admin you stick to your rules, no matter how stupid they might be and no matter how friendly you are with the player. No double standards. If the rules are dumb, you change them to the next tournament.
The ESL admins of 3-6 months back were at least consistent. And they'd kick every parasitic freeloader not listed as an official streamer -- no exceptions, no questions asked. Now they've got a bunch of newbies who haven't even read their own rules before they go out trying to be admins. Get rid of them all, I say.

First of all thanks to everyone for their concern about what happened last night.
My sincerest apologies to FuRy for how the situation was handled in the beginning.
Before explaining what happened, first some key points for background information:
It is not forbidden to play in other cups at the same time as Go4SC2 BUT if 15 minutes after the scheduled match time you are not available to play, you can be given the ultimatum to "play now or forfeit".
Plenty of players have no problem playing in multiple cups at the same time, and we do not want to deny other players the opportunity (or hurt the community) by disallowing it. We try to make reasonable allowances, but if necessary players will be given the ultimatum.
Moving on, DeathAngel should have played the final against FuRy immediately after winning his semi final match against Harstem. VampireLady, who was a cup admin in training already for a few weeks, had taken responsibility for the match (after adminning the semi final) as is normal for any of our cup admins to do.
Unfortunately, DeathAngel instead went to play a ZOTAC match instead. VampireLady turned to the admin chat for advice but wasn't given clear direction from the other admins available at the time. She should have been told to give DeathAngel the ultimatum immediately.
While she kept in contact with DeathAngel, she tried to disarm FuRy's aggressive waiting with humour - as is her style - but FuRy took it the wrong way, which made him aggressive and then offensive leading her to kick him from the IRC channel.
A few minutes later one of the other admins got the attention of a senior admin to resolve and clam the situation, getting the final played.
VampireLady's handling of the situation was down largely to her inexperience, and the failure of the other admins at the time to take responsibility for making the hard decision to give DeathAngel the ultimatum. It's a lot harder than it sounds to tell a player "play now or forfeit"
As a result of everything that happened last night:
- VampireLady has left the admin team. We thank her for her efforts and wish her luck with her casting
- All admins are being reminded of how to handle situations like last night, simply that in general, 15 minutes after the scheduled match time a player should be given the ultimatum to play or forfeit
- In case of doubt or trouble, they will be reminded that they should get the attention of a senior admin sooner rather than later

Great, I love how there is an official reaction now . I think that everyone understands why FuRy had ''agressive waiting'', and I think VampireLady just handled it a bit dumb by telling him that DA had personal problems. Also, big thumbs up for reminding the other admins of the rules, so something like this shouldn't happen again =].
