Hello! My name is TheScriptan, I am a Diamond player in masters league and I made a video about how to improve your mechanics in StarCraft II. The method that I share with you is the same that I use as well! Feel free to edit this method to your own needs!

Steps that I follow in the video:

1) Aimbooster ( http://www.aimbooster.com/ )
2) 10fastfingers ( http://10fastfingers.com/typing-test/english ) OPTIONAL
3) Practice Aim Infinite ( battlenet://starcraft/map/2/73153 )
4) Hotkey Trainer ( battlenet://starcraft/map/2/166322 )
5) Marine Splitting/Queen injecting creep spreading/ micro trainer with protoss
6) NeoMT Multitasking ( battlenet://starcraft/map/2/157767 )
7) Darglein's Multitasking ( battlenet://starcraft/map/2/88857 )

Useful arcade maps:
* Darglein's Micro Trainer ( battlenet://starcraft/map/2/81536 )
* Knalle Micro Map ( battlenet://starcraft/map/2/138730 )

I'm confused when you say you're a Diamond player in Master League(?). Thanks for the post; anything to help people improve is great.

ML is too easy achieved this season, GM's in Diamond, Plat/Diamonds in ML...and GML' is semi garbage because of this too

ah okay. are the current sizes of ML & GML leagues (as measured by % of player pool) inflated relative to historical averages? interesting

GML is same top 200. ML last seasons was like ~1% of players, and now it's 4.68%, so from 1.200 players to almost 3k ML this season. Leagues don't really measure anything, but they become easyer to get in, so many bad diamond players (and some good) managed to get to ML with photon rushes etc, while playing low dia enemyes all the way. and then with 1-2 wins they got GM :D and many real GM's stucked in Diamond(now most in ML) because GML got no slots

Getting good at starcraft by doing something that isn't starcraft. They typing thing is a genius way to get used to a new keyboard or just to familiarize yourself more with your current setup. Thanks for the ideas man

ofc i hope you're all aware that you should start this kind of ums when you have finish your config.

about 10fastfingers, it's more than optional. it's useless as their is no correlation betwen english words and sc2 hotkeys so i dont see how that could help for sc2 and i feel the same with Hotkey Trainer. But both seems more like a bad config reflex.

i'll add this excellent topic
http://www.teamliquid.net/staff/Hot_Bid/CecilSunkure/How_To_Improve_Efficiently_b.pdf
It's a bad habit to have the tools with no method.

My method is completely different: i go for couple of unranked and i focus on pushing every hotkeys that i have.^^ I just do this kind of ums when there is a specific mechanic that i need to improve

when you do all sort of stuff the only one thing you do is"benchmarking".

That's not the point.

These non-SC2 practices boost your ability to perform SC2 mechanics not so much as to practice SC2 mechanics. For example, the point of fastfingers is to boost your accuracy and screen register time. Instead per your method, spamming all your hotkeys as much as possible just means you're spamming with no real reason behind it.

So this man's steps are actually brilliant. He starts with practicing boosting the ability to perform SC2 mechanics, then practices those SC2 mechanics, then ties them all together in a multitasking session.

I don't mean to take anything away from him, but this is considered an evidence in sports and when you learn a music instrument.

You split up the complete task in several subtasks, and then work on those independantly. This allows you to practice that subtask more efficiently and improve quicker. Pro basketball players don't play pickup games all day long. They do very specific drills to reinforce particular areas of their game (shooting off dribble, shooting off a pass, dribbling, passing, etc). You generally improve way faster that way.

Iirc, it's kind of the same idea behind that group Jakatak started not too long ago: the Sandbox or something.

Edit: I've always wondered why pro players don't seem to practice like that. Does anyone know if ProLeague teams have those kind of training methods ? If any team uses it ? I mean it has been shown in traditionnal sports (and basically any other learning activity) that it is more efficient to practice that way. So why does it seems that it's not used in e-sports ?

I don't get how this can be more efficient than just playing and really focusing on mechanics every game.

Enjoy bronze for the rest of your life then.... It helps you improve because when you play against other bronzes you aren't forced to play at a higher level to win... these games help you improve by forcing you to increase your standards and accuracy because when you focus on a single aspect at a time you become better faster at that aspect than trying to improve at everything at once...

This just makes sure you don't form bad habits. As LoneYoShi said, this method allows you to practice each aspect of mechanics in a clean and precise manner which will create good habits and will carry over into play. Just generally "focusing on mechanics" in game doesn't really help you while this gives you a guideline of clear goals.

Actually much better than I first expected!

Really liked the aim booster. Best accuracy game by far I've come across. Only miss the simultaneous keyboard activity. (Heart clickmer) increase size to cover most of the screen, so it simulates sc2 better.

Typing game. Meh.

Morrow accuracy game. Meh.

Hotkey game. Meh.

I remember playing the neo multitasking game with the probe in bw! remember it was useful!

10fastfingers may be good to learn touch typing but it will not help you improve on a sc2 level. If you want to have a good tool, better to go for real software and custom it ( klavaro for example). I dont know what yours hotkeys are but in absolute TheCore should be the way we all play. We dont need half your keyboard to play.(optimization, optimization)

Instead per your method
no no no
i focus on pushing every hotkeys that i have
. My exercise is about warming up all my hotkeys even those which are pushed 1game/100. It's more of a streching exercise.
Also focus means low redundency(i dont really care about spam, i've always been below 30%)

I think if you're new to sc2, now that we can, and before doing hard work like that, you should strat with grid then spend time to build your own config (hotkeys, graphics). That will help to understand sc2 mechanics and practice at the same time.

@LoneYoShi
At proleague level, you focus more on praticing one BO. When you know the map, then the player that you're going to play, you have to prepare for him/ the map.
Basically, player from team A calls player from team B " - come i need to pratice mines drop. 3 hours later - maybe i should try this way. let's go talk with other A player. 1 hours later - ok, let's try this way . 3 hours later - next session tomorrow.

Practice this regimen for a month, then stop and keep playing. You'll find you've improved.

I don't think there is anything wrong with focusing on mechanics ingame so long as your goal is not to win but to hit benchmarks, a la Filtersc.

I'm sorry but you're not understanding what I'm saying. For example, when I play piano, my teacher has me do finger stretches, cut my nails, do piano drills, and then we get into the music.

Here it's pretty similar. The "finger stretches" are like 10fastfingers which help with accuracy and screen register time, then the "piano drills" are the macro specific trainers, and the "music" is actually playing the game.

Ok i understand now. That's because i consider streching and warm up as two different things.
Even if 10fastfingers can help with both, i'll put it on the warm up categorie(goal is to be fast and accurate so streching should be already done)
1) streching
2) warm up
3) training
4) real deal
10fastfingers can be good as a streching tool because you have to move a lot on your keyboard. but as warm up excercice it's bad one.

Am I the only one who can't access the "6) NeoMT Multitasking ( battlenet://starcraft/map/2/157767 )" map? (on EU server).
I remember playing it a while ago, but now i'm getting an error saying "Map not found. It may have been removed". Was it re-posted with an other name or something?

Nice list btw, it should really help improve my mechanics.
