I need to know what the keys are to turn you and opponent into green and red colors. There is a hotkey I can use in the beginning of each game for that. I also need to know how to hotkey a location. I see pros hotkey natural and third at the beginning of each game. How is that done and how do you return to those locations when needed?

It's a good style, but requires very good mechanics and discipline, and better Terrans on ladder will know how to punish a badly executed phoenix style. I think looking at First's phoenix patterns is very helpful, as one of the issues I had trying to play this was that I could find the medivacs, so I ended up with widow mines in my base anyway. Pylons and map control is of course the thing that would help with this the most.

How is that done and how do you return to those locations when needed? 1)shift-tab,at least for my settings... just look at the button to the right of your minimap, there you can click on it and it will also show you the shortcut if you have tooltips activated 2) Common sense! Just look at your hotkey setup (It's called camera location or sth). I think the standard is shift+f5,f6,f7 etc. for saving hotkeys and f5,f6,f7 etc. to go to the location, I would recommend re-hotkeying it to lower F numbers, starting with F1

Now can you answer this, or someone that knows better because I know Teoita likes going templar in PvT.. I just feel so incredibly vulnerable opening with templar in the midgame though. Opening oracle into 4 phoenix into collosi vs terran - what's the weakness of doing this?

I realize that you pretty much cannot play protoss without warp gates but I cannot stand the fact that you have to click the unit you want then place them somewhere instead of them simply going to the rally spot so I always just keep gateways since I like rally (like in broodwar) Is there anyway to make it so that warp gates just warp units into where you placed the rally?

The biggest weakness of that style is probably that since stargate tech is so expensive (especially if you make phoenixes on top of the oracle) it definitely has to pay off and do some damage or you end up behind. That said with every goddamn terran going hellbat drops right now it can be a powerful style. Also, it's really, really, REALLY fucking difficult to execute. I played around with the oracle stuff a bit and despite being pretty used to PvZ and PvP stargate play, i actually found it to be really tough, especially in the midgame when you have to be active with your stargate units while macroing off 3bases, getting your tech transitions right adn whatnot. More often than not i ended up just keeping the oracle as drop defense and that was it. That said, i sorta already wrote on article on it too (minus the phoenixes), http://www.teamliquid.net/forum/viewmessage.php?topic_id=412475 ![]() On July 04 2013 06:33 VayneAuthority wrote: Is there anyway to make it so that warp gates just warp units into where you placed the rally? Is it worth it to play against ELITE AI, will that make me a better player in any way or should I just keep grinding it out on the ladder? It seems that the Unranked games are probably not what I will encounter on the ranked ladder games. I guess I need a practice partner, plat or above, to go over my replays with me. I am about 11 games over .500 this season in Gold, so I'm not terrible for a Gold player. I used to play a lot of games while high on various substances, because it would just put me in the zone and I could sit there for hours and hours grinding out games and winning most of them. But I've cleaned up a little and my mind is definitely sharper, however I get more ladder anxiety now. The wins seem so precious, I DO NOT want to go back to silver again, I was so happy when i got to Gold, I felt like I accomplished something. Anyway this is just a rant...I guess my real question is, should I start scouting now? I was told and heard in a few instructional vids, and Destiny said it too, that scouting in bronze and silver isn't worth it, just don't do it. That it wouldn't help me. And I got to gold without ever scouting. Now I have to add that dimension to my multitasking.

I really need someone to show me what I'm doing wrong. I don't really copy pro builds, seems kind of pointless since my macro is Gold level. I get frustrated and flustered when I fuck up an engagement or just see my opponent has so many more units than me and have no idea why. But I'm determined to get to Plat, and eventually Diamond and maybe play some online tourneys...but that's a long ways away. And I got to gold without ever scouting. Now I have to add that dimension to my multitasking. The good news is: 1) HotS has unranked so you don't need to worry about ladder anxiety, and 2) you can no longer be demoted during a season anymore, so don't worry about losing and being demoted to silver! That out of the way, at your level, I recommend 2 things: 1) Watch a few of your replays, especially the ones where you get outmacroed hard, and look for flaws in your macro. The biggest problem in the lower leagues is definitely not keeping up constant production of workers/units and letting your money get too high, so just watch for parts where your macro gets interrupted by you microing/building buildings slowly, staring at the map aimlessly, etc., and try to actively remember in the next game, "when I'm microing, I need to make sure I'm still building workers." 2) Don't play against a hard A.I. Load up a game against a Very Easy A.I. and practice doing a simple build order like (I don't know your race) 1-rax gasless FE into 5 rax or 1-gate FE into a 7-gate all-in or a triple hatchery into mass lings. These kinds of builds that avoid gas aren't very technical and clean up your macro surprisingly well. As you advance and you feel like you can copy advanced builds from the pros (like a 7-minute DT drop, for instance), find the exact build order and practice it perfectly 10 times against the A.I. Here are a few additional resources: FilterSC's Youtube channel: From Bronze to Masters Jakatak's TheStaircase Method Sidenote: What you were actually asking was "should I scout?" The answer is no, not really. Send a worker scout at the beginning, find out where he is, and bring the worker home. As long as you're playing a stable macro style (which you should), you'll be fine just macroing hard. Scouting is a good thing to get in the habit of, but in the lower leagues, I wouldn't worry yourself too much trying to figure out what your opponent is doing.

I am telling you a fact, you will never be a high level Starcraft player without using hotkeys. It has nothing to do with a pissing contest or my own skill, I didn't even say anything about myself. + Show Spoiler + If you'd like me to defend myself - I was B- on ICCup (never played PGT, didn't play BW ladders til 2008) when I was 14 after playing for a year and a half. I got into it too late to get any better before SC2 came out. I really never even said anything about BW skill, so I don't know why you're bringing it up, but if you consider B- to be "high level" then continue playing without hotkeys.
