http://www.twitch.tv/golden/b/491414527?t=93m50s I think it is a prime example of how to hold a proxy 2 gate, he holds with 3 hatch before pool with his micro, I think he could've held it better if he made a spine.

![]() I definitely over-defended but meh. Game was over when I let him get my hatch sniped, since I doubt I could have held my 4th with corruptor SH (the fact he opens ![]() ![]() My question: Anyone know an optimal ![]() ![]() ![]() I've tried massing slowlings a few times. One slowfield is enough that I can't beat it, and that includes pumping lings off the 3 hatcheries as soon as I see the pylon/move out and I've seen his 3 gate walloff so I know it's coming. Usually I stop droning completely and my economy is pretty poor after the attack is held, or I just die. In almost every case he decides to fall back, my ling/roach counter-attack on the 3rd dies to stargate or immortal (in this case he went oracle/void in to immortal and still had it out in time, what 0_O) so he gets that up for free. TRUE, I could just drone up the second he leaves and play get more ahead. Since I face this in almost every ZvP, I've had more than my share of tosses that don't take the 3rd, make 3 immortals, move up to my creep, if they can't break me, they warp in another 20 zealots and move in. Even making ling roach constantly because I see what he's doing with my natural overlord, and engaging on creep, I didn't win in either case either. My saturation was about 14/14/10 not including gas drones. I decided against droning up my 3rd completely because I saw him massing units. Sorry for long rant, feel free to set me straight

That game was so lost for Golen he just got really lucky (the protoss first zealot got stuck and he still got into unlooseable positon .. ).

Well, Golden lost even tho his opponent made the proxy very far away and failed horribly with his zealots. Impressive micro by Golden, but you can't really call that game "holding off proxy 2gate with 3 hatch before pool".

Even with 8-10 mutas out the roaches will still do massive damage. What should I do if I see double evo roach after a normal expand, should I just go roach myself? Perfectly timed mutas+lings/spines? I'm at a loss here.

I'm at a loss here. The problem I have as a High M/Low GM Z in that position is being overly greedy. If your opponent is not taking a 3rd and just going balls to the wall 1-1 all in, you can pretty much skip to drone a 3rd and just make sure you survive. You will need to try and win time with the mutas and make swarmhosts early in order to defend. When you have the SHs out make sure you dont send the locusts out in small groups. Make sure you ball them up so they can somewhat reach critical mass. If you get about 10 Shs and 5-8 Spines you should be safe. When the roach army is attacking you just reinforce with lings to try to delay the roaches from killing drones and tech, since your shs should be safe to just keep on pumping units if you snipe the overseers with mutas! But its not always easy. But spines and SH preparation and then lings when the attack is at your front is best way to deal with it! After you held the attack you can probably drone your 3rd and go for either Roach/SH push with 1-1 or just keep teching. You are at a great tech and economic lead, but you are at upgrade disadvantage!

I'm at a loss here. If your opponent in a zvz is only on 2 bases don't transition into swarmhosts. What you want to do in that situation is make muta/ling/bane and that's it. You should also have at least 1-2 spines at your natural when you see he is going roaches and especially if you aren't seeing a 3rd you can add a couple more. Make sure you aren't being greedy and you will be able to hold that and take little damage.

If I cant get to my opponents base with lings, should I sacrifice an overlord to scout?

And it never hurts to morph an overseer, though it wouldn't be necessary if you have overlord speed. And in almost every situation, you should sacrifice at least one overlord to scout, the odds of getting lings in are just too small.

I attempted to go with lings just rush to his base, but cannons everywhere. Found out about the cannonrush at 17 supply when I was going to go expand, but he had already walled off a little corner of his own for the cannon. Also, 1/2 of the silver league games in the first 8 hours of the ladder have been cheeses. :/

He lost to the follow up not the proxy gates themselves and I think that a couple of different choices would've won him the game. I know the first Zealot got stuck but still it's good footage on the reaction to a proxy 2 gate and if you reacted like that with hatch first you could hold it.

I played someone today and I initially thought mech, but he was pumping out Marines from 4 reactored rax's. Should I have made Roach/Bane/Ling or just Ling/Bane? with hellbats in the composition you want to go heavier banelings then normal. Muta/ling/bane is still the best, but make sure to have more banelings as hellbats are really, really good versus lings.

I never went mutas ZvP before, how do you stop 2 base all-ins (e.g. 7 gate, immortal/sentry immortal/zealot) with this style?

You're probably better off going for roach/hydra and then doing a big jaedong-style muta switch later in the game if you can't finish him off for some reason. Otherwise, Day9 did a pretty good daily on soulkey's muta/corrupter ZvP, I think it was #605??? Give that a look and you'll have a solid strategy for sure.

Hatch Gas Pool, ling speed 5:50 resume gas mining 6:00 hatch 6:10 add 2nd + 3rd gas 6:10 RW Stop drone production at 2 base full saturation Baneling nest at RW completion 13 roaches, rally lings behind Hit at about 8:45 I used the DRG Style with Gas at 4min mark and roach warren, another gas at 42 Supply and a Bane nest when Roach warren is half way done. In the last 2 months i saw Jaedong, Revival and HyuN do a Roach Bane bust that hits at the same timing 8:45 with arround 10 roaches and mass ling bane BUT they had a third up, so not completly off to bases. Does anyone know the exact build order for this? I always noticed it while they already attacked and so i did not see when they placed down 3 hatch, gases and so on. Excuse my english please.
