Ha yes I guess it probably is. Unfortunately I've only reached it twice in my whole gaming history, and have no idea what kind of level of spending that requires, my problem at the moment is consistency. Which is why I was aiming for a good foundation that isn't unrealistic for my current level of play. Once I can consistently achieve diamond (note as I seem to mainly get diamond as my top spending I've changed it to this) skill spending across my games, I will start working on actual focused improvement, I.E What I'm doing that's different from master/GM level, and then work on getting my spending to GM level consistently across majority of my games. I don't think at my current level of play and understanding, I will be able to reach GM levels.
My long term goal is to get up to Masters level. With maybe 2-3 hours of play everyday. Hopefully that's achievable. (obviously more hours on the weekend). I would play more, but I do personal work in the evenings as well (trying to change career).

Getting your spending level to GM isn't as hard as you might think. Especially if you start out that way. I would consider trying it to see if you can. Step 1, try to hit GM spending for 2 days. See how you do.

Been playing a couple of times this week using the core and staircase. I can safely say that my game has improved but I can see a lot of flaws (with my game). I think I'll be on step 1 for awhile. Doesn't help that all my games are against the AI due to a horrible connection - dam AI Terran, they shred me every time.
Yes I advanced to stage two with some diamond level play, but instead of moving up to another unit, I decided to add in upgrades for marines only for a few games. Mainly to improve my micro and try to beat huge diverse armies with just marines, micro and upgrades. Proves to be very hard, specially keeping my macro up for the games.

Ok I'll try with step one. I'm not an optimistic person lol. Mass marines on the ladder here I come :D
Edit: First game I try... GM spending level.. wtf. Built about 10 ccs and 20 barracks. I lost obviously, damn siege mode and hellbats!! hehe. Was funny game though, guy was probably like... what the hell are all these barracks!!

Hell yes colonel! Make it happen!

Here's a link to the ggtracker of the game: http://www.ggtracker.com/matches/2860082 On reflection I had WAY to many SUVs, I made 130 in the game, and ended up with 81 at the end. Should probably look into that. 64 would be optimal at this stage wouldn't it? 16x4 bases (if the game last longer than 20 minutes ofc).
|
Too many SUVs? That's terrible. You're burning up fossil fuels all over the damn place.
Go for 16SCV*3Bases=48 total SCVs. 3 bases is more like a real game scenario.

Col. Virus being a boss at this game. I've been getting GM spending for Terran too for the last few games!
On another note, how's the data for supply blocks coming along?
edit: Also, how can I stop ggtracker from importing my games automatically? I want to manually upload the games I want to track with ggtracker and not have it automatically see everything in my match history.

As you using a pro account? I had to manually upload all my replays until I subscribed, now I use the little auto-upload program the site provides. You can delete any games you don't want on the site, only games I delete are cheese games, so far only had one of them. Mainly because it doesn't really add anything to my learn, games over so fast it's pointless to track it.
Only one more game for GM then on to Step 2. Although I might try get a couple more. I know soon as I start adding gas into my economy, my spending will take a shocking blow, need to workout when to get gas, when to take expansion gases etc etc. Going to start that with just Maurders, then move up to more expensive units like mass Banshee. :D I feel a fun week coming in... Mass Banshee ahaha... hopefully no one makes air units. lol. Turrets. Turrets everywhere!! Btw, this is the most fun I've had with SC2 in a long time, does anyone know a good way to improve stutter step?

Haha.. well global warming is just a myth obviously... I burn all the stuff, no cares, what hole in the ozone layer? MORE PETROL!!
Ok I'll aim for a solid 48 at this stage.

Quick question - what is Rule 4 all about - You MUST skip all games with less than 600 resource collection rate. Is that in reference to unspent average or Resources collected?
Also, what is the race macro percentage?
Noob terran player here so just just trying to work things out.
|
All goals aim for a race macro score of 100. Good luck-- try as I might I can't seem to get above 95 consistently :\

Hi, GGTracker here. I agree with fengshaun and Becuula that it was confusing to see matches that you didn't upload on your player profile page. So I have removed them.
If anyone liked it the old way, please feel free to discuss on the GGTracker thread.

@htou You MUST skip all games with less than 600 resource collection rate. It is exactly what it says. Resource Collection Rate. You should get this exact stat in ggtracker.
@MotherFox race macro is only 100 for terran and protoss. We will have a fluctuating number for zerg. You can absolutely get 100% on terran and protoss. All you have to do is spend your energy enough to stop your OC or Nexus from maxing out!

Thanks! Since ggtracker is not opensource, can you at least open the algorithms and data you use to calculate spending skill and other metrics?
Back in the day, I used to be able to keep track of progress without any specific tools. Now, I feel like staircase is following the service/vendor lock-in path, which is just not good! Although I understand if you want to keep things closed!

Wow, it looks fantastic now. I really love this tool more and more.

I don't understand why this is just not good? The stats are all still available for free. And we can do things with ggtracker that cannot be done by hand. This means more meaningful metrics and accurate data. I'm not seeing the downside here...

Spending quotient craters if you're at 200/200 for extended periods of time (resources pile up quickly).
Any advice on how to treat games like that? e.g. I'm seeing Bronze SQ solely because of being at 200/200 for several minutes.

Sure, no problem. The data that's used to convert Spending Quotient into Spending Skill is here:
http://ggtracker.com/spending_skill_stats#?race=protoss&gateway=am
And the underlying data for that chart is here:
http://api.ggtracker.com/api/v1/spending_skill/am/protoss
It's JSON-encoded. 0 is Bronze, 1 is Silver, and so on. The array starts with the average SQ for 5-minute games, and continues up to the 29th minute.

I have just noticed that in ggtracker a hallucinated Unit shows up like a real unit in the unit overview. Does it also have influence on the Army Strength graph?
