To work around this problem, upload a replay that you played in (vs another human) and then GGTracker will learn that your name is not "Unknown". Then the rest of the signup process will work normally. Sorry bout that!
Sorry to bother you so much, but I uploaded a replay and it found my name, but ggtracker still has problem recognizing my portrait and so I can't complete the signup process!

Turns out that Blizzard changed the format of web profile pages slightly. I'm updating GGTracker to handle that now, by using the updated version of the awesome bnet_scraper library from agoragames.
In the meanwhile if you can't wait, PM me and I'll auth you manually

What do you think the best way to apply this to a Random player is? Should I still just shoot for 3 success in a row and just use the guidelines for the race I get with Random that match?
Or should I try to master each race one step at a time maybe? (Though this sounds un-fun)

Or should I try to master each race one step at a time maybe? (Though this sounds un-fun) This is an interesting question. You could
1) Separate your steps by race, and be on three different steps at the same time, so 3 successes with a particular race in a row (not necessarily played back-to-back-to-back) would get you to go to the next step. 2) Pick a race for ~5-10 games in a row, and then switch. 3) Do you what you said, and just have 1 step that you are on and limit yourself according to that step's limitations for the race you spawn as each game. I feel like this might be a bit hard to keep straight in your head.

hrm, what to do for zerg? I keep going way over my resource cap as I just cant spend enough on just zerglings.

Zerg step one and two is simply a matter of making way more hatcheries than 'standard', up to the point of 2 hatcheries for every saturated mineral line I believe.

When I upload replays to ggtracker, my spending skill never appears. This is post-hots preparation update.

The FAQ might help: http://ggtracker.com/faq
Or PM me your profile link and I'll take a look.

How to get spending skill for HotS? I don't understand the instructions in the faq.
"Click on your battle.net name to go to your GGTracker BETA profile page." this step in particular. I dont know what this GGtracker BETA profile page is.

When you upload a HotS replay, it'll take you to a page describing the match, such as this: http://ggtracker.com/matches/1796637
Click on a player name on that page to get to a player profile page, such as this: http://ggtracker.com/players/957161
On that player profile page, you can click the word CHARCODE underneath the player name to supply the character code.
If that's not working for you, you can tell me your player name and/or charcode and I can give more specific help.
(The system is a little confusing because there are no web profile pages for the beta server. Once HotS is released (!) then things will be easier as they are for WoL currently).

Thanks a lot! Will the spending skill for each game I play auto update? What is the refresh rate of updating.

Whenever you upload a new replay, it'll pull your latest matches and update their Spending Skill and all the other fancy charts. It usually takes 45 seconds, although sometimes as long as 5 minutes.

To be clear, does a "pass" occur if you reach all the marks, regardless of whether you win or lose?
|
|
Thanks; also, is playing unranked considered cheating?
|
Not at all. Actually. I would suggest that you start off on the AI matchmaking with step 1. Once you get to elite, move onto unranked, and once you complete the staircase (or whenever you feel comfortable) move onto ranked. I really love the AI matchmaking, because it allows you to focus on mechanics during the early step that have less strategic viability and then start playing against people with a more reasonable set of tools. That being said, I did get into gold on step 1 with all races, so I would do w/e is most comfortable to you :D
