I downloaded the scandinavian ZRM and I use a swedish keyboard, I have no issues at all with the aglt-gr key. I dont know if the other setups use alt for something other than cam locations, but that should kinda be it? or am I wrong?

for ppl that don't have allt-gr keys: right alt is the same as pressing alt+ctrl

The layouts up on the skydrive are not HotS compatible just yet, I realize I didn't do 50% of the work in making them HotS compatible. That said, it's not very much work, I can have them HotS compatible by tonight.

I will check out the HotS stuff right away. There may be a need to create different files for HotS than WoL. I will investigate!
EDIT: No i won't JDub already has the solution to the problem in the time it took me to post this. No wonder EPIC are the champions of the AHGL...


From the FAQ in the OP:

Alt is set to "center on current selection" this is not a mistake. The reason for this is that 5 cameras are dedicated base location cameras that will snap to your base whenever you want to shift+click back to minerals, do a transfer, or defend against a drop. These cameras are set with Alt and recalled with Ctrl+Shift. The 3 remaining cameras can be set anywhere for any purpose and are called free cams. These cameras are set with Shift and recalled by pressing the key.
2b. What if I want to set the "base location cameras" on an area where there is no building?

If you want to set one of the 5 cameras intended to be set on an area where there is a building, shift+click the unit or building you have selected so that you have nothing selected and then set the Camera.


Concerning the Pause-Menu Buttons, I feel it is an accuracy thing, but if it persists I'll look into solutions. Do you have any suggestions?

If you're going to make = a free cam and aren't layering it, you can have it bound to Shift+= as set and = as recall. No need for unnecessary modifiers. But I didn't catch which version you were on, so it may be that you do need to layer it.

I have a question about the ENTER CG for PRSM.

Would it make sense to use \ instead of ENTER if you happen to have a keyboard that has that key left to enter instead of up? I don't see it being used anywhere in the mapping file. Its hard for me to reach ENTER.

In ZRS, Enter was bound to Chat, and also to recall a control group. Might have been fixed since last night though.

Gotcha. Good Call.

EDIT: We should have the HotS Compatibility all set now, however, there is a bug with the new abilities that if you change a hotkey in Sc2 it unbinds all of them. If you make any edits, you'll have to do so through editing the text document, or re-entering the unbound keys. Sorry for the inconvenience Hopefully we'll be able to fix it soon, but it may be on blizzard's end this time around.

Yep that has been fixed. Chat has been moved to the left arrow key for all RS layouts (right-handed, small hands).

Yes it would. I set up the small handed layout assuming that Enter extended horizontally and there are no keys between apostrophe and enter. I would definitely recommend switching it.

Edit: Still working on getting them HotS compliant. It's very difficult for me to get HotS working without having HotS myself, so if anyone wants to lend me a beta account for a few hours over the weekend I could probably get it squared away.

I'm here to thanks for TheCore ones again, I stopped playing SC2, becouse I haven't got too much time for it, but Im using TheCore everywhere now, BF3, GW2, Borderalands 2. It's so much more comfortable then normal wsad.

yeah switched to that setup in all my games too, after so many years playing on wasd it really takes some time until the new setup feels natural, but im getting there

I'm also having problems with Alt Gr. I'm using RRMM with a Nordic Keyboard layout (and Finnish keyboard in Windows, if that matters). I generated my Nordic layout with the remapper but Alt Gr is acting as Ctrl+Alt and it takes like 0.5 seconds before the screen actually centers on the current selection. Also, if I hold Alt Gr while trying to move the screen, it moves only a bit and in a weird slow way before centering on selection again.

Galaxy345 had the same problem a few pages back, but unbinding and rebinding the key didn't help for me. I'd prefer fixing this without meddling with the registry.

I'm using the Chinese SC2 client. This most likely doesn't matter as my old layouts worked normally, but it does make it hard for me to edit stuff in-game because I can't read Chinese, haha.

So far I really like the feeling of the layout after playing with it for maybe two hours yesterday. One issue for me is that I kept hitting K by mistake to lift off my CC but I imagine I will learn not to do that soon enough.

Another one is that cancel felt somewhat far away at F8 even though I have quite large hands. Previously I was using a heavily modified version of JaKaTaK's old layout (before it was renamed to Chameleon) and I recently changed cancel from esc to ~ which felt much faster and better. Now it feels as if I'm "back" to using esc again.

I'd like to ask why the mousewheel click is not utilized in the layout? I tried searching the thread but couldn't find anything about this. In my old layout I used it for select idle worker so I changed it to that for now since it feels much more efficient than 7. I feel like it's a super fast key and quite easy to use even though there might be a slight loss of accuracy for a split second.

I want to say thanks to JaKaTaK, FoxyMayhem and and others who helped create this. Great work!

Hello JaKaTaK, and everybody out there.

I found myself seeking for a better hotkeys layout, and here am I.

I studdied your hotkeys proposal quite a bit, and i came out with some questions / suggestions.

First of all : i would consider keeping the Ctrl / Shift system that rules the control groups. Most people come here from the standard hotkeys, and thus, keeping everything that works fine in both systems is good imho. I did change the Camera Locks UI with Ctrl + Shift + Key = Set Camera Lock // Alt + Key = View Camera in order to fix the issue.

Second : I found one or two hotkeys to be weird. I don't understand why queens would be so far from your fingers. I think J is more likely to be intuitive. Creep tumors should also expand with I or J, not K.

Maybe I missed something though, so don't hesitate to tell me if i'm wrong.

I've been playing 2-3 games by now... it's horrible !!! x) but you can easily find that with some training, the setup is much better than the standard one. Good job here !

I would add : J is fine for zealots, but i find it more intuitive to use I for sentries and K for stalkers, while giving the warp toggle the M button, since it's less often used. Why I for sentries and not for stalkers ? Because in the standard UI, The "E" key which gives you sentry is above the "S" key that gives you the stalker.

Ah but queens can and you want a consistent key for creep tumors so therefore creep tumors can't be on j. But will instead appear on the next priority key after all the queens abilities that are higher priority than laying a creep tumor. You dig?.

Oh, i get it... that's a good point...
i suppose k is the best option then.

I still changed a few stuff here and there for my personnal usage (i play random). Give me your thoughts if i missed something (like for the tumors stuff).
As i said above, sentries get I and stalkers get K while warpgate transforms on M

melee and range zerg upgrade swap for melee on J and range on K, since melee is more often used
Hydra Den goes on M to let infestation pit on J and Spire on I
Overlords come back to J while zerglings goes on K. Roachs are now M
Queens are on J and lair / hive tech gets K
