So, I originally downloaded the one with hotkeys mapped to additional mouse buttons. After playing with it for a while, it feels very odd to have to push buttons on the mouse for control groups. It almost jars my brain a bit, if that makes any sense. I might switch to having the hotkeys on the keyboard. I'm going to play with it a bit more, but that's one of my first impressions.

hehe, it takes a long time to get used to using mouse buttons for control groups, those without extra mouse buttons are just re-learning the left hands position, wereas your learning how to use both hands for macro

and also no one sees it in the video? am i hallucinating? did i research hallucinate too fast?
What you're seeing is the artwork of one of the first versions of TheCore. Since then alot has changed and thoose have been taken out of the op due to being outdated. When TheCore is finished I'm sure Jakatak and Foxymayhem will add in updated versions of that but in the meantime the closest you will get to that is found under "Visual Aide". All hotkeys you're gonna have to find in the Data Document.
Yeah Xanbatou, it's second nature to me now to press mouse buttons. If it doesn't work for you after a while, feel free to switch it over to the other layout.
Since today the camera hotkey Ctrl+Shift+I does no longer work for me. Ctrl+Shift+J/O/P still work fine though. Is this a problem on my side or did Blizzard change anything?

Been playing with it some more and I have additional comments/observations:
1. Creep tumors have wierd hotkey assignments. I changed it from whatever it was to i, so it is the same as the creep button for queens. Might change it to o though, since its really the only ability creep tumors have. Still experimenting.
2. Why is neural parasite on o? I thought the idea behind the o key was to put the most commonly used abilities on o. fungal growth is by far more used than neural parsite, and in fact, infested terran is far more used than neural parasite. I might put fungal growth to o, infested terran to i, and nueral parasite to n. The hotkey letters kinda make sense that way too :3
@xanbatou Some exceptions were made for the "fastest key, most frequent command" rule. In this case, it is a matter of combinations. Being able to do things like unburrowing and quickly casting fungal growth is a far greater advantage than having infested terran moved.
Open the Data Document, select your race at the bottom, scroll to the right. Find your layout abbreviation (such as RLMM or PRM) on the top row. The "quick cameras" are listed there under camera, there are 3 of them.
More importantly, layered cameras. They are made and accessed in a special way as explained here:
Yes, that's for inject, but all the other races use it exactly the same, they just don't use inject.
You can ask me one more question where the answer is clearly shown in the documents, after that you're on your own.

Everything has a reason... (or not) but that actualy has a good one. Infested terrans on "N" is a greate hotkey, why? Because there is never a single moment when You need one of them, or two. You always need many, soooooo, you shuld be useing shift micro, M + Shift + N + <mause_left_click_spam> and M(stop) is next to the N so it makes sence.
And about that neural parasite on " I " vs " O ". If you take closer look, in this layout abilitis, in general, are on two fingers that are pinki, (and that other one, next to the pinki, that I don't know how to call, coz i'm not native) and control groups are on the other two. Then, your infestors shuld be bound to "P" or ";" (as layout tells) and "P" and ";" are used by the same fingers that operates on "O" so "P" or ";" + O wouldn't be as fast as "P" or ";" + I .... like AT ALL.

I guess
(sorry if I spelled something wrong) ;(
Oh, that makes sense. That's a good explanation too. Thanks!

So hello there mid plat EU Zerg here, I saw this when it came out but didn't dare to change to it, since it is quite... peculiar. But playing in plat i came to the concusion that the assignments for upgrades are horrible, so I took my time and got used to TheCore, liking it so far (ZRMM german layout). The only thing that is awkward to me is to assign camera spots, sometimes i just need to assign it quickly and thats impossible for me. Alt Ctrl is just too far away from o or p to be assigning it quickly. But thats not too bad since im mid plat its not that impactful on my game anyway.
The actual reason i came here is just to tell you real quick what an awesome hotkey layout this is, feels really slick, compared to the standard layout this is just amazing. No real hand movement needed, and with the accessable layered camerea thingy i dont need to waste 4-5 hotkey spots for queens. Thanks to you two! So yeah just wanted to give my feedback to you.

Thanks man. I think I can speak for Foxy and say that we really appreciate the support and we're glad its working out for you
I'm having a lot of trouble with the unit groups in ZRM. Specifically I'm unable to tell what hotkey a group is set to by looking at it.
I think I will rebind it to Group 1 9 Group 2 0 Group 3 - Group 4 P Group 5 [ Group 6 ] Group 7 L Group 8 ; Group 9 ' Group 10 ,
That way it works more like a standard number pad for a phone and I can look at my unit groups and know what button to press. I'd run it 10 key format (backwards), but I find the upper numbers/letters much more comfortable to hit on the keyboard.
Right now I use ; and ' for my scouting overlords and it doesn't make sense that control groups right next to each other show up as group 8 and group 3. It also makes army control much more confusing because I can't tell what units are tied to what button. I always find myself rebinding keys again and again just to make sure I know what they are.
I also wanted to say thank you for all the time and effort you put into this. Despite my terrible losing streak when I switched over and the frustrations of learning a new hand position, I really do like the core setup.

This is a smaller clean up that we've been planning on making for the final release. I'll try to get it in for the next patch. Thanks :D
