We're moving feedback off of rapid fire as it does burn through tons of energy wastefully. However Snipe is still very effective for rapid fire as it allows you to quickly cast 2 snipes as soon as the HT comes in range by holding down the rapid fire key and mousing on the HT. Snipe does lag out a bit if you change targets too quickly, but only has a significant effect on mass ghost play, and is still more effective than not having rapid fire at all.

I agree, what do you think is the optimal repeat rate and repeat relay for the keyboard/mouse ?

That way you can warpin all gateway units rapidly. Example for PRM (Put WarpIn-Key and Rapidfire-Key on '): # Press familiar Key of the Gateway-Unit (J for Zealot) # Hold Shift # Hold Rapidfire Key ' # Move Mouse Around to spawn Units

I just don't understand 1. why the new keys are better for protoss and 2. for what abilities for protoss is rapidfire effective in your opinion?

Jak, if you think that rapidfire is worth changing ability hotkeys, then I suggest you play this game more, because rapidfire is nice, but its not that nice. It's just not worth it. Second thing - there was a suggestion in this thread to bind RF to 2-key combination. Why the hell was this solution ignored? It gives best of both worlds and actually solves Feedback problem. I see that you like to argue just for the sake of it, then be my guest and do it for the next 100 pages of this thread instead of actually trying it in-game.

I was playng avareging APM in 1 week with this set of hotkeys kind of 80. My apm is like 150 ~ 160 in average. So i was looking through the posts in here. I saw a lot of tips. How to inject, how to do a lot of things. IT could be a good idea to put this tips in the first post. It is kind hard to look through 270 pages to find anything good that we can really use. Really good hotkeys, but somethings I m not used to. Im in master league, for me it s really diffcult to change my hotkeys now. I was trying but not comfortable with this

I do not always agree with changes, tbh i disagree with most of them most of the time, but you have to remeber this is still a beta.I stayed with TRM 6.1 for a long time, because i believed it to be superior. I have tested most new versions of the core ever since, and after the adaptation period i can always notice things are done for a reason. Little improvements , little experiments here and there, which most of the time end up being positive. I kind of get the impresion sometimes that some decisions dont take real game scenarios into consideration, but usually those things get changed as soon as someone makes a reasonable argument. When enough feedback is given and the possibilities are taken into consideration things get changed. Rapidfire will be changed. The pace in which the core is modified may not the best pace for everyone, but remember you can always reconfigure your core any way you see fit. I have been there many times times: Floating my buildings and moving them away by accident, stopping all my workers from mining and wasting like 6 secs to build a refinery, building the wrong addons, floating medivacs over stalkers while unsuccesfuly trying to drop the units, as well as the centered camera throwing my build off badly, and my most recent one, the drag scroll lockdown which let me watch 3 bane marine massacres while not being able to micro at all XD. Well in the end i either adapted or changed it to fix myself, since i find myself giving it a lot of thought i come here like you and try to contribute or express my opinion. I actually think it's great that you post, it is through people willing to go through the frustration of relearning new versions and coming here to vent it that the core improves even more ![]()

I think that's it, if i forgot anything I'll edit it in. EDIT: I put the time and date of the update, and will do so for all future updates, that way everyone will know if they have the most recent version.

I tried to learn TheCore over the summer and stuck with it (though I tried once before for a week), as many games as I lost. I put tape on the keys I rested my fingers on in hopes that I would remember which keys were which and not slip into an alternate spot (which happened frequently). I got to being around the three or four week period, to where I was tired of hooking up an external keyboard to my macbook pro (and simply of taking so long to get anywhere) and went back to my own custom layout, which was basically the original layout customized to the left side of the keyboard. I decided to tryout the DarkGrid layout about three weeks ago, and for some reason I feel like I learned it insanely fast compared to TheCore and I've already improved about 40% in apm (I don't spam click yet so my apm has always been relatively low around 40-50). The last 10 or so games I've played online, I've won all of them straight. I'm wondering if you guys could give me some motivation to actually stick with TheCore if it really would help? For the amount of time I've used it, I'm still pretty useless with it. Also, what are the best practice methods? I know there are some "programs that make learning easier" but some were rather hard to use. Also, minor question: how do I tell my hand size? I'm not sure I belong in the small or medium size, as my hand feels like it fits between them.. :/

I updated my Core from TRL 6.2 to TRL 8.1, and I saw again a LOT of important changes are implemented. So I just wanna make sure I have the right version before I commit a lot of games to this. The changes I see so far: Advanced buildings changed from - to /... A lot of use of the 7 key... the Tab through command groups from / to side mouse buttons ( I remember you could choose if u had extra mouse buttons first, but I dont see this option anymore at the download sites) Overall these changes look very nice to me..but they are so different from the TRL 6.2 version that I just like a confirmation i'm doing everything good so far before I learn the TRL 8.1. Also, are you expecting a lot of big changes in the future or you think 8.1 is very close to the perfect hotkey setup? Thx for your work as always jakatak ![]()

Are you tilting the keyboard 40-50 degrees clockwise (or counterclockwise if you're lefty)? If that's the case then the reason that your fingers were slipping is because your hand wasn't in a natural position.

I've briefly touched on this before, but since it didn't get as much discussion as I would have hoped for, I'm going to make the patch notes for how Select Larvae on '/A would look. Hatchery Select Larvae = I/R → '/A Larva Morph to Drone = I/R → '/A Why? Select Larvae is currently pressed by the ring finger, as is the majority of morph commands *1. This causes a lot of finger repetition, which we want to avoid. *1:Counting Morph to Drone too, which is on the same key as Select Larvae. This changes things a bit, because you in some cases can just hold down the key. Edit Of course Hatcheries, Lairs, and Hives needs to go to O/E from P/W, if this suggestion is to work as intended. This can be done by simply swapping the Queen and Hatchery CG.

I dig it, I think its a pretty big change that may be difficult for random players using the PTR version, but would lead to greater speed overall. What say you random and offrace zergs?
