When in doubt just add more stuff to your wall, more banelings killing themselves on building the more units you will have leftover to counter Also, if no one mentioned it Filter's youtube channel has the first couple episodes of the zerg guide up

I know a lot of us lower league players love to argue with master players about strats and how this counters this and so on but I bet almost all of the higher league players would agree that it isn't the strategy that's losing us games. It's our inability to deal with harass, us actually missing the benchmarks of this strat or some other aspect that we've run into a few dozen times and not thousands like people who really know the game. Filter, thanks for all the help. You've improved my game.

I have been doing this a while now and getting straight strong benchmarks against no opponents, but when on ladder i have trouble. Distractions trow me off bigtime ... 1 drone/scv/probe eentering my base will lower my drone count considerably.. Getting allin-ed by bane/ling is painful .. (especially cuz i don't get a second benchmark ![]() Getting proxy 2 gated is still awful, again ..not seeing it in time is the problem so more vigilant scouting with initial lings/ overlords will fix this in time. The amount of CRUSHING games i put out is so nice. Getting to attack with LOTS roaches with +2 +2 speed and burrow/movement just rocks. Filter you rock, keep em coming. Want to get into gold for a while now ... Never knew how bad my macro really was until i played like this. and to all my opponents i'd like to say .. SSSSSOOORRRYYY.. its only roaches ... ![]()

We need colossi in order to do that, which means we need to get into the mid-game in order to stand a chance. In order to a-move off of 2 bases we really need to go all-in. Which means we need to get our third up, and once we do that our opponent has usually teched up enough to make serious dents in our armies...

If you are doing other things, like this thread says, even if they think its good for you then it can only be bad for you.

You should be playing how you feel comfortable and the mechanics work itself out great when you are comfortable. Let's see, there's more than a hundred guys in this entire thread that have expressed how it helped them get better at the game and at the same time have more understanding and fun. How exactly do you think it was bad for them?!

As to always using the builds shown in the video and thinking it's a generic terran tutorial, yes that's stupid, but the series is about practicing basic mechanics that you can later use no matter what build you use.

Are you and I on the EU ladder an everybody else on the NA? ![]() I'm on EU too and I'd say you'd have to lable all the videos with atleast one league down for EU atm (silver video here = bronze on EU, Gold video here = Silver on EU, and so on). Also you have to realise that other people get better aswell. So the overall skilllevel rises (partly because of this thread too btw, a lot of people use this training and get better). Unfortunately this probably means I'll never get out of Silver ![]() And yes, all-ins and cheeses are a pain in the rear. I have like a 60% w/l-ratio in makro games. With all-ins it varies a lot. Sometimes I have a streak of holding them all, sometimes I just overreact or react badly in a row. On this weekend for example lost to 4 cheeses/all-ins and won against 1. In most cases I just reacted badly, I know that, so I will probably do a week of anti-allin training or so. On a sidenote, please don't get me wrong. I don't want to say this is bad training here or so. I really like this thread and am really thankful. Just wanna explain why/how the league description of the videos can't have a meaning.

The Roach stuff work quite well, I always have lots of stuff more than my opponent, and that is kind of the point or the practice.

Absolutely disagree with you guys there. Playing only the GOLD benchmarks got me into top 8 platinum in my EU division. I crushed a Diamond Zerg with the Plat benchmarks last week. I won 10 out of my last 12 games. You still have to do other stuff while hitting the benchmarks. Do drops. Distract your opponent. Harass. Add specific units versus specific units. If he attacks with banelings, split your marines. Focus fire the blings. If he attacks with Colossus, focus fire those with your vikings. EMP templars. etc etc. You're supposed to hit the benchmarks while doing all of this. This playstyle gives you the background to sustain solid production, to be able to support your splits and drops and harasses and engagements with an army right for the amount of time that has passed in the game not more, not less.
