I've been playing really well against Terran lately, like 83% win rate at high diamond level. Yesterday I lost to the first Terran in a long time. The reason? Nukes.
It was in a point in the game where I was about to steam roll him, then he just started distracting the hell out of me with nukes. I was at first good about finding the red dot, evacuating my drones, and putting them back after. But it got to the point where he was nuking so much I felt like all I had time to do was look for red dots. Then he nuked my main so many times that my spawning pool and tech died. It was annoying as all hell! I was paralyzed and couldn't play the game because of nukes!
The problem is finding those damn ghosts. With DT harass, for example, you can always find the DT because he has to come out and kill something. But these fucking ghosts just hide in little nooks and crannies and it takes a real effort to find them and kill them. And then once you think they're gone, you leave an overseer and a few lings in the base just in case. But the first thing the Terran does is snipe the overseer before you have time to react. I almost feel like I need 2 overseers per base, and two groups of lings, one on each side. But that seems like an over-investment.
An idea I had after playing this game was that maybe I should have kept a separate small flock of mutas + an overseer with overlord speed in my base area. And used that group as a ghost kill-squad. Would that be a good way to handle the ghost harass? It seems better than lings because of the mobility between bases.
If that's a bad idea, are there any common tricks to dealing with this, or is it just an APM thing? (It did just feel like I couldn't keep up, so it might simply be that.)
Here is the replay.
Note: I realize my play was not optimal. I'm not interested in advice about the early game where I sort of fuck up with the hellions and had an insane surplus of gas. I know what I did wrong there. The fact is, at this level, if I would have handled that properly, I would have probably never even went into the late game with this guy. So the point is moot. I am only interested in advice about the nuke harass.
Thanks!

As Sean would say: "Just go fuckin kill him" If you are about to steamroll him and he starts being cutesy with nukes, just attack him. He will be forced to use the nukes defensively, then he won't be harassing you with them, and you can keep macroing up. Every nuke/ghost he has is almost 2 tanks he doesn't have, so just go at him.

Consensus: You know what youre doing. You just got impatient at the end and could have won with careful broodlord control. Think about the ghosts like they are marine drops. This is sort of idea, deny the dropship you deny the drop. Mutalisks roaming with overseers can also help and youre idea of keeping an overseer and somelings with each base is almost perfect but maybe need a backup spore crawler.

Isomer "just go fucking kill him", while he is turtling with tanks and bunkers at home? Any tip on that?

Just watched your analysis. Thanks man.
Yeah, seeing the game again on your stream with a clear head, it's pretty clear I just let the nuke harass distract and paralyze me way too much. If I would have just had the clarity of mind to get the broods earlier, I think it would have been gg.
Like you, I was also shocked when those queens survived! lol I wonder if they were just slightly out of range or something. (Edit: Yeah, in the outer ring, it wouldn't kill them. )
Anyway... Thanks again!
