In my opinion, Marine Tank is simply too versatile as a unit composition to be outclassed by Mech. It allows lots of harass yet also can win a full front fight with sufficient micro. Mech begins to lose viability late game where Zs can transition from Roaches to Broods and into Ultras or Roaches again, leading to the Terran always having an inaccurate composition to handle the onslaught due to the faster production of the swarm. Marine Tank are also less punishing from Zerg transitions eg. Roach Bane into Ling Muta. Most Zerg unit compositions can be handled easily. A sudden heavy roach into muta transition can spell disaster to a Meching Terran unwary of a hidden spire eg. I would encourage you include the viability of Marine Tank in the TvZ if you are able to do so, will help out alot.

Go to your hotkey setup, and set the bind location keys to shift+f2-f5 (I like having the idle worker key, preference is up to you) and then set their corresponding keys to f2-f5. I'm trying to get better about using these, because they are extremely important. Excellent guide, thank you so much for taking the effort to write this. I'm a new Terran, so this is all extremely helpful!

Many of the lower levels are very build order oriented players and worry way too much about composition. I say do away with that and focus purely on mechanics and less about build orders. I agree once you get to a certain level build orders become very important but that is because you will then be high enough that every little thing matters. And Force yourself in uncomfortable situations. I am not talking about in terms of getting a disadvantage, but more of 'you know this is the best way to play but you are doing something inferior' type of deal. Such as you know 1 rax expo is the best build for this matchup but you don't do it. DO IT. Force yourself to learn the ins and outs of it. It may take you a total of 1000 games of this one build but it will be very solid build that you can rely on as your backbone build. I am having problems reading this since I see this as a huge contradiction. You should focus only on mechanics but at the same time learn a solid build and stick to refining it, which is what lower level players want to do.

Just one question - Do you think TvZ mech has a lower skill roof than marine tank or bio?

All kidding aside... this is a truly fantastic write up in terms of scope, detail and quality. I learned a ton. Much applause for a really solid contribution to the strategy forum. I have a couple of follow up questions / requests for future content: 1) Drop play in TvP. I see you say this is a requisite to win with bio in TvP, but I have a very hard time applying this (high plat / low diamond NA). Warp ins generally seem to be enough to manage any single ship drops, and I am extremely scared of weakening my main army by more then a drop ship worth of units at any time in case. Is your goal to do economic damage, or to just keep the protoss army in his base while you macro? Do you drop multiple locations at one time, or just have one ship out there being annoying? 2) TvP 2 Rax openings - I open 1 rax gasless into expand 4 rax marine production on pretty much every map (unless I scout something whacky), and while I know its putting a square peg into a round hole on xel naga and metal, I feel like I can get too far behind economically with other openings. Which 2 rax opening do you use? The 2 rax concussive push? 3) TvT - I generally open cloaked banshee into expand marine - tank. I patterned this build after MVP from MLG Providence, and it is reasonably strong at my level (while still having a coin flip element since I lock myself in). Do you consider this opening to gimmicky to be sustainable going forward? I have had a tough time making 1 rax expo work in this matchup, but I know it is more a reflection of my shoddy TvT skills then a weakness in the build.

In the line "Armory around 8 mins, Ebay after armory is finished, research vechicle attack, pump a thor" you say "pump a thor", but if I'm following your build order to the letter don't I not have a Factory with a tech lab on it at that time? I'm not sure if I'm missing anything and sorry in advance if I am.

I ain't very good at terran, it would be helpful if you could arrange some things listed in TvZ "overview" to "build order". Great guide though, I enjoyed reading it.

Edit: I think it would be awesome if you could update it now and then with additional builds that you like to use. Your explainations for them are second to none.
