I don't know what I could have done better? I thought I played very good, yet he just stomped me.

When it was simply Marine/Tanks it was easier to grasp. But now when I scout a terran base, when I sim city my main, etc... The only thing in my head is "Is it reapers? should I not skimp on marines? Is it a banshee? Should I get an engineering bay/viking? Is it a 2rax push? Should I make a bunker? etc.... I feel lost whenever I'm scouting terran since I have absolutely no idea what to expect. It's like playing zerg all over again--but worse ![]() Oh, right, the question, how do you properly scout terran during the midgame without using scan? And what do I look for during the midgame? Early game scouting is fine, but it's that transition into the midgame that I hate.

I dont know what league you are in but still. The game started out normal. You did a blue flame hellion drop which only killed 7 workers. That ok, but you could have done alot more had you picked them up. Thats all my can see micro wise. Now the reason why you lost this game is because of your macro. You stopped making scv for long periods of time. Around the 10-12 minute mark you were floating 1000 min because you didnt have enough barracks and kept supply capping yourself. You had just finished your engi bay at 11 min. If mutas came before the damage would have been alot worse. Oh and You took your third at 25 minutes. Try 10-12 minutes next time. You lost because of macro. Take a look at the game again. See where you macro mistakes were, and fix them one by one. You will be out of whatever league you are in in no time.

Early game scouting is fine, but it's that transition into the midgame that I hate. I do the 1 gas banshee fast expand build. It leads nicely into mech and has options. You make whatever you scout with the 1 banshee. In the early game use hellion scouts.

A cursory level of analysis on your part is required for me to go in-depth- I wont spend much time on this if you don't also- I skimmed your replay, though. Coaching VoD: http://www.twitch.tv/blazinghand/b/294783909 Part 2 is my review of your game. some notes: 1) opening actually somewhat solid BUT 2) pick up hellions once banelings arrive 3) then you proceed not to attack or pressure him until 16:00. You also don't take a third. your timing attack is credible, but it would be far more credible if instead of banking those minerals, you invested into bringing your economy up to par. You win the fight but that wont' win you the war. 4) at the 16:00 mark you have 32 scvs, that's about 2 scvs per minute, whereas with a single command center you can build ~3.5 scvs per minute, and you personally had 2 command centers. A larger economy would help you. On September 10 2011 21:21 cojosc2 wrote: http://drop.sc/33663 The opening is something I saw SlayerS_Dragon do against a plat when laddering on his EU account. He started with a 12/14 rax bunker harass then expo double gas 4 fact hellion marine push. He won after that point but I usually try to transition into marine hellion thors because I like thors. I play a lot more aggressively against zerg than I have in the past but TvZ seems to be really hard for all of us low level players. Heres my notes from this game: Failed the bunker rush but forced a lot of lings. So maybe its kind of a victory for me At 12:12ish I did some good damage but I should’ve retreated back to my base. Just did some pressure and retreated At 17:50 I engaged on creep…. ‘nuff said I didn’t get enough info throughout the game Should’ve taken out creep tumors These are my notes on these 3 games, any help is awesome. Tell me if you agree disagree, anything. Advice is advice and I love it. Thanks everyone! I took a look, and here's a summary of where I think you went wrong: You never knew how all-in your opponent was, and always assumed he was droning when he was actually all-in. Then you banked 1400 gas and didn't use it for stim, blue flame etc. 1) scout to see if he has his natural-- bunker rushing the natural is only good if he makes one. 2) don't assume that a late-expanding player won't all-in you. make bunkers if you're not sure 3) spending your gas through upgrades such as blue flame, stimpack, combat shields, a +1 are all vital components of a terran army. Coaching VoD: http://www.twitch.tv/blazinghand/b/294783909 Part 1 is your coaching.

Also, when i FE, what do I do if the protoss is containing me in my main base with sentries after i deflected an allin with bunkers? My understanding of the 1rax gasless expand is the following: rax cc rax rax gas gas and then depending on what you prefer, tech lab with your first 25 gas, or wait for the factory, followed by a reactor and a starport. as for getting contained, either elevator drop on another side of your base and go for a flank, or just drop him okay so then when do I get the academy? after i get 4gas?

You can get a later ghost academy if you want. I usually get it if I see he has any sort of twilight council tech (charge, +1, etc) but not before. Scouting with drops and the like will help you with this. You'll want your 3rd gas though. Dealing with FF contains means you basically want dropships. If he all-inned you and you retreated to your main, immediately begin a factory and use medivacs to force him away from your ramp. If it's JUST a sentry or two, you can try to stim and run down the ramp, but that's super super dangerous since his army might be there too.

I think my main issue is that I can't stop drops. If I leave tanks around my bases it eats into my big mech army so I really don't like doing that. I get to late game and make turret rings, but I still lose my bases. Is it better as mech to just put PF's on all your expansions bar your third/nat? I can easily make more CCs for scans in base and have it protected, it's just I never really like using PFs if I can help it. I just feel at a complete loss. I was playing good players so I don't feel cheated. tl;dr, what's the best way to defend bases as a meching terran in TvT?

Any tips? In TvZ, just like in any other matchups, expand behind your attack. These are some attack timings that I like to use: 1. With hellions or marines, early game, which isn't meant to kill, just poke at his natural and see if your hellions can grab a free drone here or there. 2. With marine/tank, at about the 10 minute mark, with about 3 tanks and 20 marines. This is meant to kill any third the zerg is trying to take, and potentially kill him outright. Contain him on 2 bases and slowly advance. While you are doing this, secure your natural. 3. With marine/tank/medivac, at about the 15 minute mark, with about 4 tanks and 25 marines, it depends if you save any of units from your 2nd push and your marco, how big your army is. Try to kill his 3rd, and more if you can. Take a 3rd while doing this. Oftentimes this will kill him. After these attacks, just play TvZ how you like. You say that muta harras is preventing you from taking a 3rd. Rather than put up 20 turrets everywhere to stop it, stop it indirectly by attacking, and forcing the mutas to defend rather than harass your bases. You should never "turtle" on 2 bases, terran is the aggresive race, play it that way.

Lol? Gas first in TvT is quite standard, as well as hellion drops. Why would you call them a faggot?

What should I do? My current thought is to be more active with my units, control watchtowers and try to catch him unseiged. I really don't want to open with an early siege tank build myself, I really prefer transitioning into them later on, if at all.

Now, I'm looking for some (macro- oriented) builds as Terran. They should not be too hard to execute at first, but leave room for improvement! Do any of you have any suggestions as to what Builds I could try to use for this? I was thinking of: TvP - 1 Rax no gas FE into 3rax/1fac/1SP+double ups TvZ - Reactor Hellion into MarineTankHellion (I like to think that 1 Reactor Factory is a really good addition instead of another reactorrax, as blueflame splash rules bigtime vs Zerglings) TvT - No Idea, I guess both other build work quite well? Also, I'm looking for a HerO to stalk. Who is a really good, solid Terran Player of whom there's quite a lot of replays around, who is easy to stalk? Kind regards and thanks in advance, Toastie
