Hey TL. I have some questions about my blink stalker micro. I've decided to bite the bullet and start incorporating blink stalker play in my builds, and I'm wondering how you, personally, micro your blink stalkers:
* Should I have health bars on? * Is it all mouse clicking, or do you have multiple hotkeys of stalkers? * Do you use the default blink hotkey? I'm on classic, and my finger keeps tapping the space bar (hotkey is "B"). * Are there any cool AI tricks you can do with blink stalkers? * When going blink on one base with 3 or 4 gates, when do you usually take your expo? * What's the best transition if you completely fail with blink stalker pressure? * I realize this is MU dependent, but how many stalkers is too many stalkers? * When I'm up against infestors, should I be splitting my stalkers or just taking the fungals on the chin? * Do blink stalkers beat marauders for cost with good micro, or does stim take down blink stalker play?
Right now I'm doing a lot of spamming, and it's having some good effect. I'm working on my mechanics and selecting one stalker at a time, but it seems like with roaches it's sometimes necessary to select them in lines/arcs. My blink stalker play is really weak, and I'm only beating players who are significantly worse than me with it (after watching the replay).
I've been watching HuK and Grubby when they're streaming. Most of the other Protoss players I've seen don't rely on blink stalkers to nearly the extent that these two do (or they get blink as a matter of course, but don't use it much).
Edit: Just a note, I'm in diamond, and I've decided I wont make it to masters unless I know blink stalkers. So the [L] may or may not be applicable, but my blink micro does suck.

Well im just platinum and switched from toss to zerg so take my advice with a grain of salt. 1.I always have health bars on to know which units i should pull back 2.I used mouse clicking in few units vs few units, in big battles you would do it in groups of 4-6 3.I used all the default hotkeys when i played toss 4.Well you can stop projectiles from hitting the stalker if you time the blink right 5.With 4 gates its an all in soo.. no idea with 3 gates 6.You're behind if you do no damage at all so you can go for DTs and hope or you can take a epxo and try to make it a macro game 7.If you're going blink then theres never too many but you should have a zealot to take damage if you're going up the ramp 8.dk 9.I would only use it in PvP so idk again

Health bars is necessary, unless you're good at alt tabbing. Seems dumb tho, use bars. It's all mouse clicking. I do use B and I think most players use B. I'm not aware of any cool AI tricks You can't transition out of a one base blink, unless you do lots of damage. Expand when you can't push further, but really, only expand if you're ahead or on equal grounds. It's an all-in. Split'em up, always good getting a good concave. Stim beats blink play unless you of course have collosi and force-fields. Blink is good before stim though.
edit: im talking blink in pvt/pvz, in pvp u can transition out of it, most importantly: u gotta take expo before robo player. its hard playing blink v robo tho

blink stalkers vs marauders isn't very efficient at larger fights. Small-medium can work. In larger battles, the stalkers die too quickly that you don't really have a good chance to blink back in time. At least my mechanics aren't good enough to do so. I don't think even with great micro it gets much better.

1) Health bars are a must, this helps with micro of all types anyways its very helpful. 2) All mouse clicking, just make sure you have your stalkers on a different hotkey from your main army. 3) I use B and as other have said most people use B. This is totally up to preference though, if you feel like you can micro better using a different key feel free to change things around. 4) Not sure what you mean by AI tricks, one thing you absolutely need to practice is shift queing blink when you have large numbers of stalkers, its the best way to make sure all your stalkers blink where you want them to blink. 5) I haven't worked out exact timings myself, I go robo most of the time in PvP 6) DT, archon/chargelot, HT 7) Personally I get as many as I can in PvZ but in PvP and PvT you want to make sure you have a good balance between stalkers and zealots. 8) If you have the apm to split them, go for it, I think the best way to go blink vs. infester is to blink into them and kill them as fast as possible. Situation dependent ofc. 9)Small numbers they're alright, in large numbers the marauders just end up 1 shotting the stalkers and blink isn't effective.

With blink stalkers, you can also shift+move to a cliff edge, then shift+blink across the cliff so that none of your stalkers are left behind instead of when you blink all together.
