Ever get tired of setting rally to a unit, then loosing that unit and thus having your rally points messed up?
Introducing: The multiple shift-click rallying to units.
How it is done: Just shift-click on several units (up to four) instead of one. E.g., if you have several immortals in your army, you can shift-click through them. If one of the immortals dies, no problem -- the newly trained unit will come to the surviving ones.
Why it is useful: Instead of moving to the designated rally unit death site and possibly to their untimely demise, units will be rallied to your current army position.
Update: Additional clarification -- If e.g. first immortal in "rally queue" dies, units will be rallied straight from production building(s) to 2nd -> 3rd -> 4th.

Goes to show that we will never know everything about starcraft 2 until starcraft 3 comes out in about 20 years (if it does).

i didnt know that - people didnt know that. but i guess its nice to put it out so everyone definitely knows :D

Mind. Blown. Sweet bejesus what have I been doing all these months?
Awesome tip!

Great tip, I feel stupid for not thinking of that. Similar to the shift clicking the building scv to kill it when it moves :D

Thanks man! I acctually have tons of trouble with this...now if only someone figures out a way to rally medivacs without loading up the unit....

can't you use the move command and left click then shift move left click etc?
|
Oh man, what a great tip. This was such an annoying problem for me.
|
I discovered you can queue rally points when I hit my caps lock once accidentally and couldn't do anything other than queue rally points T_T.

Off the building.
I usually just make one medivac, and then rally all my medivacs to that one.

Its insane how something so simple yet so useful can be unrealized. Koodos Nam322, Koodos.

wow nice! thanks for this tip! totally useful.

Now, if the opponent kills a unit that is in the middle of a shit+click series, and then kill the original unit the building was rallied to, would the game automatically just skip the unit that died?
What I'm saying is in the OP's pic if the middle immortal got killed, and THEN the immortal on the right died, would the robos send units to the immortal on the left?
|
yay more useful mini-tips!
|
Cheers will try when at home. I always rally my units to an army unit ... And then to a stationary point. Having to constantly check if the unit died in battle. nice.
|
this will be pretty handy
|
haha. brilliant. thanks for this.
|
wow really nice advice thanks alot

Second shift trick in a while, both awesome. Really useful on chubby units like immortals, tanks and ultras. :p

That's what I thought when I saw the pic. Gotta try it as soon as I can log into SC2, but logically it will cancel any rallying shifted from the dead unit.
