Me and my friend are number 1 in our 2v2 diamond league (~2500) but I'm 890 diamond in my 1v1. Every time I play a 1v1, an "even match" is when I go up against a ~2500 master league player and a "favored match" is me going up against a 3k diamond at the top of his league. I have no idea why my matchups are so lopsided, does anybody have an explanation?
2v2 MMR affecting my 1v1 matchups?

But this is all just pure speculation, right?

Points are pretty misleading, since they poorly reflect skill due to the direct association of whether or not you've played 1v1 ladder constantly since the game came out. Edit: my point is, your 1v1 MMR might have ALREADY been what it currently is, but other people with that MMR are in masters because they play 1v1 ladder more?

after that it depends solely on your skill and your newly determined 1v1 MMR

When I finally played 1v1, my qualifier games skipped the lower leagues and I was matched against mid-diamonds right away. So maybe? I don't know of any conclusive proof. Placement games have that tendency. For instance, when I played placements on my brother's SC2 account, it was against all bronze - gold. On mine, it was against 4 diamonds and a platinum. I still am under the opinion that placement games should go bronze first, if you beat the bronze, you play a silver, if you beat the silver, you play a gold, etc. Then you place under the highest league you beat. So a 5-0 placement would go as this Bronze (W) ------> Silver (W) ------> Gold (W) ------> Platinum (W) -------> Diamond (W) You place in Platinum. Another situation could be like this. Bronze (W) -----> Silver (W) -------> Gold (L) ------> Gold (W) ------> Platinum (W) You place in Gold. That way, players wouldn't be put in the situation I was and instantly be put against the best of the best players and then not really get a good skill measure. You also can't place into diamond which is good, but if you do beat the diamond player, you should be pretty close to promotion anyway. I guess if you wanted to make it a bit harsher, you could make them lose a "level" for losing a game. You could also make it easier and have them place into the division that they last beat, but I think Blizz doesn't want people placing into diamond. Although that might have changed with the addition of Masters. I dunno... just my two cents.

How many times have people on this forum challenged a person's opinion simply because they weren't 3000 master? Or just implicitly argued that because the person was mid-diamond that they didn't understand the ins and outs of SC2?

But this is all just pure speculation, right? When I was in bronze i played a lot of people who were in platinum or above in their team leagues but still in bronze 1v1, some people are just better at one or the other. I don't think they relate at all.

I've kinda been thinking that Team MMR and 1v1 MMR might actually have some overlap and that just makes me sad....Im in a bronze 3v3 team cause my two friends are 15 apm bad, and random 2s for shits and giggles is in really shitty gold. That better not be screwing with my 1v1 shit....

add your bonus pool to your current points and that's the level of players your likely to find on ladder, mostly because they are more active then people such as yourself.

No. People have worked very hard to decode how blizzard ranks and provides matchups in 1v1 ladder, so it is not really fair to them to speculate wildly.
