Is there a simple way to put my units in a medivac and fly the medivac away without the other units on the ground following the medivac?

The way I do it right now: bunch of MM on the ground, ~6 medivacs above -> select the MM's and right-click+shift 2 medivacs-> select my two full medivacs and fly them away.
No army hotkeys are involved, because I am bad.

Can I change my sc2 settings (+hotkeys) via a file on my computer and where is that file? My sc2 always crashes when I open the settings.

After shift clicking on your 2 medivacs shift click somewhere on the ground. This way your army will try to get into the medivac and when they realize it is full they will just move to the spot on the ground you shift clicked - no following medivac. Another useful skill is to be able to only select the medivacs with units in them - to do this you have a bunch of medivacs selected and hit your drop key and point it somewhere far off. Only the medivacs with units will try to fly to that spot and unload.

Can someone help me out, is this guy hacking?
http://drop.sc/391886

-never scouts more than my barracks
-places spores as soon as I build widowmine
-moves out with zerglins as soon as medivac leaves
-moves zerglins back to defend as soon as drop is about to hit
-places spire as soon as I'm going hellions
-moves out with few mutas into my base when I have only hellions (but he hasn't scouted that)

Or maybe he's just that good, at silver level...

Not a strategy question, but how do you reset your account in terms of league and MMR? Is the only way to do that to buy a new account?

You can leave league via matchmaking->ladder->leave league. This won't reset your mmr though. As far as I know, and I've searched myself, you can't reset mmr. But you can just drop games. ~80 games (~1.5 hour dropping) lost in a row takes you from high dia into bronze. Just be sure to stay there for some time (losing occasionaly) and the matchmaker will give up on matching you with better players.

i don't think anyone would be maphacking in silver league, either that or he is just so bad that he can't get out of silver with maphacks, it could be a smurf.

I'm gonna help you

- his scout his decent, a better player would have sacrificed an OV, but for a silver league his scout is enough.
- the spores seems to be in his general plan, to counter banshees, he just blindly build them just as he blindly built 2 spine crawlers that ended up useless.
- his zergling moves out to check/attack your third, then he realise you have no third, so he goes to the natural and sees your still on 1 base, he goes back cause he's scared, he knows you're all in, he s on 3 base, all he has to do is to defend. Moreover it's just a part of his army everything else is in his natural. Again, it makes sense. If he had spoted your drop with maphack you wouldn't have been able to burrow your mine. His reaction is late actually.
- the spire comes naturally when he finishes his lair (although he's late cause he s bad) zergling muta is his game plan, nothing wierd about that. if he had scouted your mass helions he should have made a roach warren which is a much better counter.
- he moves his muta because it's what muta are meant to be, plus you just lost all your helions, he know you can't have many units at home. he hopes he can harass your B2, and he s very surprised by the amount of turrets. if he had maphacked his move would have been different.

So as said above, no silver league his maphacking, and even that it seems to have a problem in GM NA ladder, I never seen a maphacker in plat/diamond in 2 years.

the fact you think your opponent is hacking shows that you're not in the proper state of mind : your concern must not be the possible cheats of your opponent but you own mistakes.

To say it simple, you have plenty of things to work on. Go to the terran help me thread, ask for advice, people will gladly help.

Good luck and have fun

Thank you.

I have a lot to work on, I know.

It was just a weird game.

I look at my replays all the time, and his moves were a bit too calculated, but looking at it again, it was just his gameplan as you said.

Generally, how do people get better?

When I played WC3, I played Undead (UD) and I was bad at the beginning. Then I learnt the Cryptlord/Fiends/Merc push and started winning all my games. Basically I would creep a green and yellow camp (which was usually a merc camp) and then push. Vs Orcs, this would be at the time when he had only 2/3 Grunts and salving. Vs NE, it would be when he was healing his 2 archers at the moonwells (and not at night).

Then my play expanded and I learnt Fast Fiends, TeD fiends, Altar first, Ghouls etc.. This expanded into the Destro push vs Hu, getting 1 disease Abom vs NE, 1 Wyrm vs Orcs and my knowledge of the game really exploded. I ended up creating a favoured strat combo of Fast Fiends and Altar first where I got my Necro Rod immediately when I spawned and harassed with my Death Knight. I would tech and build my first fiend at first nightime and creep - whether or not my harass was successful. With 3 ghouls on wood, I would always have enough lumber to transition into any strat necessary. It was advised against (because Tier 1 UD is considered very vulnerable) but I got alot of success especially with my micro and knowledge of when and where to hit.

That aside, I got better by learning a specific timing and then expanding on the aggressive play.

How do I translate that to SC2? Every replay, VOD and stream is a boring (in my opinion) macro game where a builder order is droned out and the game is usually decided on 1 battle. How do people improve if they want to play really aggressively.

Going aggressive gives you excellent knowledge of that particular strategy and it's deviations. If that is the way you like to play, power to you! I don't know what your race is, sadly, so I can't point you in some direction.

Strongest aggressions in SC2 are off 2 base.

Notice, though, SC2 is more of a macro game whilst WC3 was considerably more about paying attention to units.

If you are zerg, roach timings vs Terran are actually a good, simple way to practice macro and keeping tabs on benchmarks.
good examples of BOs to follow:
http://danielfenner.com/content/roccat-hyuns-zvt-roach-king-11-timing/
http://www.teamliquid.net/forum/sc2-strategy/445783-sc2-notes-hyuns-roach-hydra-zvt

vs Zerg I'd try simply going 15hatch, 16gas, 15pool with quick speed and then flooding speedlings after 1st inject round.
alternatively 2-base speed roach timings still work

vs Protoss, if you REALLY want to get on aggressive: 14gas/14pool allows you to punish/harras nexus/gateway or even gate/nexus but rarely FFE. or just roach max if you don't mind hitting in mid-game

tl;dr check this for aggressive/allin builds http://imbabuilds.com/hots-zerg/

Hello!

Returning player here and I've resolved that I am going to overcome one of my (several) weaknesses from last time I played. Basically, I was one of those people that would cursor to the edge of the screen to move the camera (in some cases like looking at enemies base/following army etc I would use the mini-map) but I have decided I don't want to do this anymore.

The thing is, I find clicking on the mini-map just as cumbersome and inaccurate (I assume with practice this will get better) but what do you do if you just need to move the camera a tiny amount? e.g, waypointing your ninth scv to the ramp to build a supply depot etc.I have bound 'drag' camera to my space bar but if there is a better way of doing things then please let me know.

Cheers.

I haven't posted in Strategy in ages, but I had a team game question actually, something I've never figured out: What's a/the optimal strategy when you get an ally in 2v2 who literally doesn't know how to play SC2? Bnet makes shitty teams sometimes, and I get a game where my ally early on confesses to not knowing how to play the game (they usually end up with 20apm), versus two evenly matched allies who both aren't that good but can collectively mass a deathballish army that is almost impossible for one player to defeat. I try making a bunch of AoE units (not great, because I'm zerg), etc. ... my only two 2v2 losses this season are with this kind of ally though and I think I'm missing something, because those games should still be winnable.

The MMR isn't done with you until you have a 50% winrate.

Also, as specific advice, if your ally is really brand new, tell them to cheese and give you control. Easy to execute, chance of success against superior players, gets you out of the game fast.

I'm not sure if this is strategy so much, but it's Sc2 related. 2 things, I've probably asked them before but I have a shit memory.

1. How do I not be so hard on myself after losing? Each game I lose puts me on such bad tilt I can't win again that night. I get so depressed, I take every game way to seriously. I act like I'm MKP and I just lost a tournament finals. I usually end every loss with telling my opponent how bad I am and how I'll never be good. I don't know why I feel the need to do this, but I do. Usually to the point where they try and give me sympathy.

2. How do I really learn from loses. I don't learn ever, I've been playing exactly the same for the last 6 months since I started trying and I honestly think my play has gotten worse over this time. I can never remember to scout, I'm always too busy macroing, and if my opponent drops or harrasses me at all it's game over, I can't deal with it. Also, cannon rushes have a 100% winrate against me, so that's annoying.

This one is difficult as it's all about mindset, and I can't just easily tell you to change it. But you have to realize two things: It's just a game, and you can't get better without trying and losing. I don't think anyone hasn't ever tilted after a bad day in this game, but for the most part losing has to be treated as an oppertunity to learn: What did I do wrong? How could I have avoided it? Watch through the replays. Maybe someone else has the answer? (which in the case of cannon rushing there should be a ton of threads about on this forum alone).

It also helps a ton to have a friend in this game who is trying to learn with you, and one who you can experiment with. In the worst case you can try to find a coach, which might be free or charged by the hour depending on who you find. I had an hour of coaching way back when I was super frustrated with Zergs and felt that no matter what I did I didn't get any progress. It did wonders, but it was a proplayer and thusly cost me a few bucks.
