Can't find the 1-Gate sentry expand one, but it's more economic but if Zerg makes a round of speedlings he'll force the cancel on the nexus which isn't good. The only example I've seen recently is Oz vs Stephano, where he opens gate-nexus-gate-core, hitting some amazing pressure timings with lots of stalkers early. Again, if Stephano had opened 14/14, he would've flat out won against the opener I believe. Just don't gate expand, there's a reason (successful) pros don't do it anymore ![]()

I'm helping my friend get to masters and I'm people playing far into masters already but I'm still not promoting so I was just wondering if the ladder locked. Thanks in advance. What is the point of raising your friend's MMR for him? Not to mention it's explicitly against the EULA? I mean I guess if he just wants the shiny symbol, sure, but seems sort of pointless.

I was wondering which race is best for beginners. Im looking for something well rounded that will teach me the fundamentals quicker. Sorry if this is vague.. im not familiar with RTS terminology. all races are pretty balanced, especially at lower levels. Protoss takes the lowest APM but is the least forgiving as far as strategy goes, Terran is high APM/multitasking, easy strategy and you generally just have to out macro and outplay your opponent. Zerg is a mix; doesn't take perfect micro, macro, or multitasking, but having them will help your play out a ton. IMO Zerg is the best rounded race, make sure to use mutas and drops to multitask and try to outplay your opponent. All races are awesome, powerful, and fun to play. I, along with most of my friends, started with Protoss, mostly because of colossus and blink stalker lol. Switched to Zerg because it fits my play style ^^ Hope this helps

Something lower APM might be better for me lol I like shiny visuals anyways! Thank you ![]()

I really like the feel of T/Z and I would really love to get to a decent level with them, but I just feel so lost if I attempt to play them, and I don't want to suffer through 100 straight losses just to get my league down to silver (as I'm assuming that's where my T/Z is :D)

Is there opening which doesnt require banelings and can counter them easily? I mean you can skip the baneling nest all together and just go straight to Roach Warren, but you a running a rather high risk of getting overrun due to low Roach numbers.

The ladder locks on 1st September. Though why your friend would want you to boost his account is beyond me. It's just a shiny badge and if he doesn't actually have the skills to back it up it seems a bit pointless.

No wonder, cause I was playing like 1400ish pts and still not promoting -.-. He's been like plat for a year and just gave up lol so he just asked me for the shiny icon.

You'll lose to bad scouting and defensive preparations. It just seems lucky. For example, a Terran moves out to attack Zerg, but Zerg counterattacks with ~20 zerglings. If Terran had walled off with supply depots+bunker or two, or if he had well positioned scouting marines to see it coming, he would've taken no damage. This may seem like an "unlucky loss", but it could've been prevented by scouting etc. However, I'd say Terrans have the hardest time in the lategame, and the easiest in the midgame. Protoss have trouble all game until they get that 3/3/3 deathball, and then "bad luck" of missing a cloaked ghost that EMP's all of your HT which weren't split (unlucky eh? or bad preparations.) Terrans have to counter the Zerg/Protoss's units in the right ratios, Protoss has to be careful about engagements, Zerg has to pick the right unit and engage correctly. They're all viable in macro games, just pay attention to scouting and preparing for anything your opponent can throw at you. What I like to do in-game is ask myself "how can he win this game?" and deny it. It's usually drops, I'll build a spore ring, and win when his drops can't touch me. Yeah that's the end of my rant ^^

Yeah that's the end of my rant ^^ While I agree that it is bad to blame luck, you cannot deny that there is a degree of luck in the game. Playing without risks is impossible in this game. Also, BO losses. Sometimes what he's doing counters what you're doing, and there's nothing you can do about that.
