Mr.Bitter's 12 Weeks with the pros (just search it) is super great for zvz stuff. It's really all about the openings. If you have an advantage, know what it is and how to exploit it.

If I switch to Zerg ONLY in 4v4s, will this affect my 1v1 rankings, or 2v2 and 3v3 for that matter. I don't want to hurt my 1v1 rank for the sake of experimentation in 4v4s. Thanks, I hope this is simple enough ![]() Certainly not, unless you have not yet played your placement matches in 1v1. From reading the various MMR related threads on TL, I gathered that your MMR's will only affect what league you place into after starting a new team or league (i.e. 3v3 quick match solo)

Thanks, I hope this is simple enough ![]() There is a separate MMR for each one, plus a separate MMR for every formed team you are a part of. The only way they interact is when you start placement matches for a new team or league. The skill of the people you face in placement matches is determined by your MMR in other teams or leagues. So you can play zerg on 4v4 and it won't affect your 1v1 MMR at all.

For Terran, you usually don't need to sacrifice an overlord unless you couldn't get into his base with your first drone and repeat gas steal, but if any sac is necessary I'd say around 5:30 too.

Stock standard opening: there is none? depends on what you like. I personally like the 1rax FE into 4 bunker turtle into vikings + marauder + BFHellions. Every build IMO...1 rax expand works because he can't kill workers faster than you can make at first, and when he finally gets more than 2 phoenix you should be making a 6rax push. 3rax is obvious 1-1-1 also works since protoss has nothing to stop your cloaked banshees maybe reaper rush wont work... I'm sure 2rax mrine + SCV all-in would also work if he rushes scouts.

On April 01 2011 19:08 Alpina wrote: My Q: Why do korean pro's usually upgrade first or even rush for +1 melee attack in ZvT? For banelings it does not make any difference and for lings I think carapace is better cause they survive marines longer and survive 2 tank shots. Upgrading +1 carapace makes banelings to survive much longer as well. Marine hp: 45(no upgrade shields) Zergling attack: 5 (no upgrade) Zergling kills marine in 9 hits Zergling attack: 6 (+1 melee) Zergling will kill marine 8 hits(1 hit less) The problem with marines is their dps is over the roof, even though a marine can take 2 more hit to kll a ling if zerg gets +1 armor, the difference really is minimum if the marine quantity does not go down as fast as possible. Therefore, I it is more important to kill the marines ASAP rather than survive. As long as the zerg can keep marine quantity in a small number, the lings can survive easier. Also, zerglings are made to die unlike marines, so armor probably not so useful? Just my theory

(not exactly a strategy question, but I really do not want to spam with a new thread) The ladder was reset recently for the new season. If you haven't played since then, you need to play one game to place yourself again. MMR stays from last season, so you will most likely be placed in the same league you were in before.

Nope, in BW, it's freaking difficult to control a deathball properly. Players who 1a their army and win and think that they are good made me frustrated and so I switched races. Z->P. But I never make colossi, because I know how Zergs feel about colossi. HT FTW!

I have played the new placement match, and was promoted into master IN season 2. Why am I still not ranked on my profile?

depends, on some maps there's no point drone scouting. even if he's 7pooling and you don't see it, your reaction won't be any different from what you'll already be doing.

In the beta, players walled off with a barracks at the north side of a ramp, and two supply depots below it to finish the wall-off. Is the new trend in the metagame (barracks between two supply depots) better, or is it just a style difference? Thanks in advance

I've noticed that Select continues to wall off beta-style in his MLG games and was wondering if there was an advantage to that style. Thanks in advance I believe the benefits to using a bunker are: - Your marines defending the wall have a range advantage, as they're inside the building rather than behind it, making it a lot safer against ranged attackers. - Your marines are protected, for example from a Stalker trying to poke up and pick something off. - Your barracks and addon are safe in the case of a possible bust, you don't want to lose your production facilities.
