Get two gateways, screw gas. Make zealots using chrono boost.

If u have the correct walling (1 zealot on hold postition gap) u should be fine to be able to continue with your normal build. Only if it a 6 or 7 pool should u start thinking about a second gateway. After the gap is filled with 1 zealot you will be fine

Are there any high-level Zerg players you can recommend who frequently use overlord drop harass aggressively, particularly a more general style than the baneling drops that FruitDealer popularized?

(I'm interested in looking up some replays to study and would like to see a few players' approaches.)

As a terran player, what should I look for to see if protoss is 4-gating me? After the stalker comes out, my SCV scout has to leave and scan can be very hit or miss.

1. Watch his chrono boosts while you're in his base. If he chrono boosts his nexus, more likely he's looking to expand. If he chrono boosts his gateway more than once, he's trying to get your scout out asap in order to tech or he's going to try to fast expand. If he's saving chrono boosts and then uses them back-to-back on his cybernetics core, you're probably getting 4 gated.

2. Pay attention to his scouting probe and any other probes that leave his base. Someone who's 4 gating is going to try really hard to place proxy pylons on the map. Don't let this happen.

3. Check his buildings with your scv. If he gets both geysers while you're in his base, it probably isn't a 4 gate. Most 4 gate players add 3 gates at the same time after their stalker kills your scv so if you see a second gateway, you're less likely to be 4 gated (probably a safe expo build).

4. If you can work it into your build, jump a reaper into his base a bit after 5 minutes to find gateways. More reliable than scan, cheaper than wasting a mule, and you can wreck his probes if you get lucky.

When in doubt, make 2 bunkers at the top of your ramp and always build your cc in your main and float it down.
Of course, you only live one life, and you make all your mistakes, and learn what not to do, and that’s the end of you.

One thing that has been bothering me about GSL games, and pros in general, is the ridiculous amount of idle workers they have.

It seems like all throughout every game there are idle workers, and this is only what the observer happens to go by.

For example in game 3 of the GSL finals MVP had two or three SCVs just sitting around after building barracks, who knows how long they were there. Then, at his natural he had another idle SCV at the natural, and when they went back to it a minute later he was still there.

What gives with this? How is the 'best terran in the world' having so many idle SCVs? Again, it's not only him, it's been all over the GSL.

How can I tell if a player is on one base? It seems like 5ish Production Facilities is about right for a 2baser terran, but I felt like he had an expansion. i patroled around the map, and it turns out he is still on one base...20mins into the game. Never the less, I won - but I am wondering if there are any alternatives outside of scouting every single expansion area.

1. What is the optimal number of racks that can be supported by a 2 base for terran whereby there is always units being produced in every rax assuming I have saturated both my bases.

2. When I get scvs along with my army as I move out, what is the command to be given to scvs? If I group them in my main army group, they attack enemy and die. If I right click on a tank, they will heal only that tank, leaving other tech.

Somethings are just worth fighting for

If you go through progamers replays, you'll be horrified by the numbers of mistakes they make. But they compensate by huge skills in other area, like game sense for exemple. This game is still new, even pros have huge room to improve.

And I bought the game because I had been waiting over a decade for its release. I ladder to earn the most points possible and +1pt for ~every 10mins played is kind of a turnoff as far as my 1v1 endeavors are concerned.


I believe it is because you have lost games while at 0 points. I have a friend similar to you who has played about 140 games but has stayed at 0 points for almost all of them, so when he is supposed to lose 15-4 points he loses none. This makes sense to compensate for the points that you should have lost. Eventually the number of points you win should go back up to at least 4, up to like 32 (depending on your bonus pool and whether or not you were favored)
For the point difference, I believe it depends on whether they were favored or slightly favored, and how long the game lasted. I am led to believe this because several days (or weeks, sense of time is bad) ago, I read about a scandal that a player was doing which was to leave the game instantly so that the winner gains a lot of points and he loses very few. I am not sure whether the game length effects your point gain/loss though.

Lets say i have 20 stalkers, and i focus fire a corrupter, which for example only needs 10 stalker shots. Will the other 10 stalker shots be wasted? In other words, is focus firing with your whole army a bad thing?

Yes its called overkill. Same goes for Vikings vs Mutas, corru vs collo, in fact everything that has a low fire rate.

Hello, i am new to terran and wish to play SC2 more intensely. On what food should i begin a fast expand (building my 2nd command centre). Also should i make 1 SVC per cycle of T1/2 units?

I have always been very confused about the term always make SVC's

And lastly if i tech up early what is a good steady 2nd refinery food count to begin building?
