Hi,

in this replay , between 9:30 and 9:45, terran player minerals go from 200 to 800, what made those 600 mineral appear? can you explain it to me?

At 8:43 he pulls all workers off mining and has 825 minerals stockpiled.
At 8:47 he queues 4 barracks to be built in your former main taking him down to 225 minerals stockpiled, but the barracks have yet to be built.
At 8:58 he sets his command center to land in your base, so it looks like he's queued one to build but it's not, it's just the land command.
At 9:41 he issues a move command to all the scvs cancelling the construction of the barracks and getting back the 600 minerals putting him at 825
At 9:45 he builds a command center taking him down to 425
At 9:45 he builds a barraks taking him down to 275 and a second bringing him down to 125
At 9:48 his scvs get in the way of his command center meaning it's cancelled taking him from 125 to 525

It can be hard to see unless you watch it from his perspective from 8:43 onwards because the replay doesn't show the silhouette of the barracks unless you're selecting the scvs when he isssued the build command, ultimately it's just some queuing and cancelling he's not producing money out of thin air.

What are the earliest rush timings a T or P can get vs Z? I know a 4gate hits around 6 mins, but can scary stuff happen sooner?

Well, of course there are some attacks that can happen before the 6 minute mark. Proxy Rax/Gate, or more Standard Build like 2Rax. Even a 4gate can hit way sooner than around 6min, i believe that warpgate tech could be ready at ~4:30

I'm trying to figure out how long a Zcanhold off on building units in favour of drones. To get the maximum economy possible before being forced into also building units
I resent being called sick. It implies that I can be cured.

This depends entirely on what the Zerg scouts and when pressure is applied. Zerg is very reactive in that way. There are of course more complicated answers to this question.

does korean 4gate still work ? (bronze-diamond) against all races

what are the best possible timings for this buildorder ? atm i have 3 zealots + 4 warping zealots in front of the enemy base in 5:58 (ingame time)

When doing a +2 blink timing with 6-8 gates, what order should I tech in?

+2, Blink, Gates, Units?
Blink, Gates, +2 (chrono) Units?

I apologize if this question is more complicated than a simple question but why does the BW and SC2 scenes thrive on constant updates to the map pool whereas Warcraft 3 used the same Blizzard maps for its entire lifetime (and very few custom maps)?

Playing a bit of random to chill out. When you're using the standard 1 rax FE to 3 rax 1 port and you scout your opponent not expanding, should you still get addons on your rax...

1) Should you continue mining gas and getting addons?

2) How do you bunker? spam bunkers in both the main and the natural? Pull the CC back to your main and bunker up?

3) When should you be suspicious that he's doing something funny? I just assume if a protoss isn't expanding by 5:30 he's allin :/

well it was a pvp exclusive build so I guess the answer is no, it won't work vZ or vT.

It no longer works vP since the warpgate nerf 140s -> 160s gives the defender too much time to deal with your shenanigans in his base.

It depends on what your scv scout sees. Simply saying "no nexus @5:30" doesn't mean a whole lot when you don't provide any information on what you saw earlier in the game.

To give you an idea, 2gate robo fe and 3gate robo fe expand around the 6min mark so don't be so hasty to pin your opponent on an all-in. That said both of those openings are not so commonly seen in the current metagame but you could definitely run into it on ladder as they are good builds for newer players to improve with.

If you confirm a 1base all-in immediately throw up a crap ton of bunkers, as many as you can afford. Make as many units as possible with what unit production structures you have, but don't make additional production structures they won't be done in time to save you. Depending on the map you might be able to hold your natural (i.e. shakuras) but if your nat is wide open (i.e. metalopolis) then don't even try, just lift back to your main and hold your ramp.

If he somehow snuck a pylon into your main you're pretty screwed. Chances are you won't hold your main and will probably be forced to lift to your natural to have a shot at surviving.

Needless to say, don't mine gas (if you don't need it) and don't get addons if you know you're getting all-inned. Get units, get stuff that helps you survive the all-in.

Not a whole lot =[ it's situational but they can be useful vs end game zerg. They are probably the best choice vs a meching terran who successfully turtles like crazy, but that shouldn't happen very often at all. I can't imagine a scenario where you'd actually get them in PvP.

When I was first learning Zerg I had no idea when and how much to drone either. I guess a good mindset that put me on the right path was to just rush for 2base saturation before any units (excluding the initial scouting lings).

I should note this is a little vague as you do need to actively scout what on earth your opponent is doing and a lot of things will force you to stop droning and make units earlier instead. Generally that's what I did though (my zerg was around plat/diamond at the time), just pump all drones till optimal saturation. You will lose to dumb things doing this but it's the right way to play and you'll learn how to deal with said dumb things through experience. It's too much for me to explain when you wouldn't want to pump drones before reaching saturation, you need to have a good understanding of the game and specific match-up and I can't explain that in a couple of sentences/paragraphs.

note: zvz is a completely different ball game T_T don't apply the advice above to zvz regardless of your league

iono. the idea is cute, could maybe work? but I really doubt it you'd have to make sure he sees your "viking-less" army and decide to engage, then you'd have to unload your vikings pretty quickly and transform them back to air mode, in time for the engagement but not too early that the toss sees it and just pulls away. bad idea, in fact it makes absolutely no sense.

It sounds like you don't have a good understanding on the zvz match-up, and to be fair it is a pretty weird match-up. watch vods of pro players, get coaching, ask a friend who's better than you to watch a few games of yours, etc.

You can grind out games on ladder since you're looking to improve mechanics as well, but from what you've said it sounds like your losses are a result from a lack of understanding of the match-up.

How do the pros switch their view so fast from their main base to their natural and third base? Im guessing a hotkey?

Yeah, set camera hotkeys, which I believe are default f5-8 and control shift 5-8 (accessed by either holding shift or not), and can be found in Hotkeys -> Global -> Camera.

Should really rebind the camera hotkeys to F1-F5, and setting them to ctrl+F1-F5.
Other base switching related hotkey is base camera, default backspace.

You could depending on the map. Just add bunkers if you do not think you can hold. Knowing what type of all in is also crucial. For example if he's doing a 4 gate with a warp prism, you need to keep making units and make sure that you intercept the drop/warp site.

When playing Protoss, what is the most effective way to defend against early game mutalisk harass? Obviously laying down a tonne of cannons will rape my economy, but splitting my army between bases can leave each army vulnerable...

I put two cannons in each mineral line as soon as I scout the Spire, and split my Stalkers into two groups, with all other units in a third control group at whatever position I most want to keep defended from a runby, then get storm as fast as possible. You feel more vulnerable than you actually are with half your Stalkers; Mutalisks are hella expensive, so it's hard for them to fight even half of your Stalkers over cannons cost efficiently. You should have HTs out by the time his Mutalisk numbers get high enough to fight your Stalkers cost efficiently, and you can add more cannons to each mineral line depending on how many Mutalisks you see. Since the army you go for against a mass-Muta player is really gas heavy (you tend to go for a 170 to 200 supply mega deathball), it doesn't hurt to put up a really large number of cannons.

I guess I went past "early game Mutalisk harass" with my description. The short version: Split your Stalkers, build a couple of cannons, start Blink if you haven't already, prepare to tech to Storm.
