As I will have troubles breaking my habit if its not for a good reason.

This is the "simple questions, simple answers" thread. Your question is "how can I win at Starcraft?" You see the problem?

Sigh i was told to post it here but k

Whoever told you to post that question here was wrong, sorry. The people who responded to your thread were correct: Read the strategy forum guidelines, upload a replay or two, describe what you think is happening, ask for help. This thread is for questions that can be answered in a sentence or two, whereas yours actually just can't be answered because it has no background information associated with it.

What's the most efficient way to plop down force-fields? Shift+F doesn't work for me because since my sentries are part of my control group and already attack-moving in this situation, they don't ff and just keep attacking until everything is dead then ff. I've tried f-click f-click f-click but it doesn't seem to be fast enough sometimes. I see pros play and it seems like their ffs go down instantly, four or so at a time. What is the button combination they use for this?

I HOLD down F and click, the only problem is, if I click too fast, I end up clicking on the units instead, but it's far better than f click f clicking.

well you can hold them but if you click faster than your key repeat rate or perfect timing inbetween commands you will select whatever you're mousing over instead of casting, so you end up running into problems.
I would suggest just f click f click f click, that way if you never go faster that you're pressing f you'll never run into that problem.
It's a much easier marker to follow rather than trusting yourself to not get all excited and just spam shit while holding f.

There was a video I watched not too long ago. It was sort of a "highlights" video for the most recent code s. It had some sick plays and I want to show it to a friend to get her into sc2 but I can't find the video

Anyone know what I'm talking about?

The queen does, barely as far as I know from just comparing their dps, health and armor.

Where can I find information for the ladder maps like: natural do natural distance, main to main distance, main to third distance, etc? Liquipedia doesn't give any of that.

Best way to get this info is running the maps through the map analyzer, it's a good amount of work to get it all up on liquipedia formatted in a way that is useful, I'll attempt it, but for now you can check out all the current ladder map data in this gallery:

Imgur.com - Ladder Map Analyzer Results

It does not however do main to third, hopefully this was helpful.

As Zerg, how do I know whether I'm facing a 4gate, 3gate expo or even a 1 gate expo? I check for chrono used on the core but that can still often lead to an expo.

It basically comes down to checking for the expansion honestly, as obvious as that sounds. Checking saved Chrono for the Warp can definately help, but you are right about that not being definitive, though it usually is a big give away of a 4 gate.

How to safely identify between those 3:

  • Low ground Gateway first is 1 gate expand.

  • Keep an overlord somewhere that you can prod in to check the expansion from time to time.

  • Run up the ramp occasionally to see what you can see. Sentries means probably 3 gate if you saw one gas with your scout.

  • 1 Base Protoss is either pushing or cheesing usually, so at the 5 minute mark get a Roach Warren and Evo Chamber just in case.

  • Keep a Ling outside of his base that he'd need to pass.

  • Keep a Ling on the towers, and ensure there's no Proxy Pylons or Probes about with others.

  • Map Awareness and vision!

  • If you see an expansion, make sure it's still there if you see units pushing out (hidden Ling or that Overlord mentioned earlier).

The long version:

+ Show Spoiler [1 Gate Expo:] +
The only way a protoss will one gate expand vs Zerg usually will be if the Gateway is on the low ground, so your scouting Drone should be ablt to identify that reasonably quickly.

The reason for this is that Protoss early forces alone can not protect an early expansion, and so the buildings need to be walling off and limitting options as soon as possible, so a 1 gate in the main in to expansion is just a very open or late expansion, which would be more typical in the PvT match up where fast units suddenly massing and running past is far less of a problem.

So for this basically think FFE but with a Gateway instead of a Forge, it should be reasonably obvious but the Protoss will likely be trying to deny you any further scouting or applying pressure before speed can finish.

+ Show Spoiler [3 Gate/4Gate:] +
Unfortunately until you actually see either the 2 or 3 more Gateways added, or the expansion put down you can't know but there are stil clues. Firstly, if he's had taken 1 gas but has Sentries when you run on his ramp then it's far more likely to be a 3 Gate Expo build, simply beause a 1 gas 4 gate is typically more Zealot/Stalker based, while early forcefields are essential for Protoss expansion.

If he is on one base and you're passing the 5 minute mark it won't hurt to put down a Roach Warren to be safe (A Spine Crawler and Evo Chamber in case won't hurt either [though Evo is for other cheese]) and so long as you have been actively scouting for proxy Pylons and Probes outside of his base that could be a threat, he'll have to travel from his base to yours giving you ample time to prepare if he does move out.

If he's moving out and there's still no expansion then you've got your answer and you simply need to focus any Proxy Pylon when you get a chance and hold for what should be a fairly simple win. If there is an expansion keep an eye on it from time to time too, just to ensure it's not a cancel trciky all in. If there's no expansion it's all in and you just need to hold, if there is and he's moving out it's just pressure.

New Topic/Question for Zergs:

Is there any way to queue movement then morph?
Whenever I try queuing banes or blords, my lings/corruptors just morph right away. It's sorta

Especially for counter-attacking all-ins/aggressive pushes, I can send some lings outside the enemy natural, morph blings, then rally to mineral line.
Also, there are many maps in which there are huge non-walkable areas near the mineral lines/bases from which blords could just chip away at; this is really good for late game when you're doing multi-pronged attacks and occupying the enemy army. Since corruptors are faster and cheaper than blords, I find flying them to these locations then morphing is more effective.
I ragequit if my split fails.
