How one handles larva injects is a hotly contested issue. I use the backspace method, where you put all your Queens on the same hotkey, then rapidly cycle through your bases with the base hotkey (backspace by default, usually mapped to something more convenient like space) while issuing inject larva commands. Another technique that is common (I believe it is how Idra does it) is to put each Queen on a different hotkey and either double tap the hotkeys to move the camera to each base or to use the minimap to inject. Yet another technique is to have your hatches on separate hotkeys, double tap them to relocate the camera, then manually select the Queen and inject. Of the three, I find this the worst, but it has its advantages -- some people like having each hatch on its own hotkey to better control which units come out where, and you don't have enough hotkeys to dedicate one to each hatch and one to each Queen.

My question concerns unit groups. Is there a key that lets you exclusively select a subgroup when you have a mixture of unit selected? For example as Zerg when you've got all larvae selected and morph a few units. Is there a way to select the morphing cocoons exclusively? I usually just shift click the excess larvae that i've not morphed and shift+number to add them to an existing control group. This gets really tedious later in the game with large number of larvae though. I was watching DeMusliM's stream and saw him do something around these lines with his groups, not too sure if I was absolutely accurate in what I saw though. Thanks!

Hi yourself! ![]() Depends on your method for injecting. Backspace/tab method? All on one hotkey. the other method is self explanatory: hotkey each queen method ![]() You might be thinking of some sort of combination where you select queens individually but have them all on the same hotkey. But doing the backspace method selects all queens, then you just v-click a hatchery. Then the closest queen from your control group with enough energy will inject that hatchery. So the goal is to get a queen on each hatchery, and make sure they all have generally the same inject phase (so that they always have enough energy, and the queen in your main doesn't decide that it's her goal in life to chug chug chug over to your brand new ninja 3rd). So when doing the backspace/tab metheod (I call it that because some people switch their tab key to do what backspace normally does - toggle between bases), you want to make sure that all your queens are on one hotkey, and then make sure you queue new queens at your expansions asap.

And it's actually extremely useful. you simply hold CONTROL, and then click one time on whatever type of unit you want exclusively selected. This makes all other units in your selection become deselected. This works by clicking the selection on the units selected shown on your bottom info bar (where all the green squares are, the name of it is escaping me), or by clicking the unit on the actual screen. The second way won't work for eggs tho, becasue control clicking a unit on the main screen does essentially what a double click does, selected all units of the same type on your current screen. It makes it easier for selecting lings on the run tho (ever noticed how hard it is to double click a speedling on creep? Yeah, just hold control and click once!) So when you make 10 eggs of lings but have 4 larva left over, control-click one of the eggs, then shift-1 (or whatever your control group of lings are) and those eggs will be added to your control group! Just make sure you have a clear path to reinforce from, don't want move commanded lings being picked off ![]() Lots of zerg players do this with mutas too (I know IdrA does). Hope this helped!

It's actually much faster to click the spot you want a scout to go to with the entire control group, then shift click a ling out of it. Then you've already got the rest of the army selected, and you easily rebind it to the original hotkey and move them back to where you want them to be. It's much easier then trying to find the individual ling you shift-clicked out of the group, plus the ling is on its way that much sooner.

Both in terms of endurance in long games and the ability for a zerg to use his 8-0 queens. That has to be preference, there's no way someone can claim that one way is better than the other. As far as simply using muscles, holding them lightly on the keyboard is probably less tiring. But there's no way to be sure. Using 8-0 queens is never a good idea though, learn the backspace/tab method. http://www.teamliquid.net/forum/viewmessage.php?topic_id=125725

How do the pros drop units from drop ships and Overlords without stopping the drop ships move command. Like in overlords they seem to drop so many of the banelings and the overlords do stop moving forward.

If i only use 1 i find out I get supply blocked or cant get the unit producing buildings quick enough, but sometimes if im using multiple i will forget about 1 or 2 and he will be inactive for a while. Or am I completely missing something/Doing it wrong.? The number of workers you should have building buildings at one time should not be capped by some limit you set for yourself. If you need a depot, make a depot. If you need 2 more barracks, select 2 SCVs and make 2 additional barracks at the same time, etc. If you're having trouble losing track of workers, try this: 1) Select an SCV 2) Order it to build something 3) While you still have the SCV selected (he should be going off to build whatever you told him to build), hold SHIFT 4) While holding SHIFT, right click your mineral line (as if you were telling him to go mine minerals). This will make your SCV automatically return to mining whenever he is done building. Once you get in the habit of doing this, you will find things a lot easier to manage ![]() @ notes: 1) this also works with protoss. 2) You can SHIFT+queue any action, not just return to mining, and not only with SCVs. Try using several move commands while holding shift, the units will go to each spot you clicked!

I am no TvP expert by any means, but afaik, most pros get +1 weapons first. I think this is probably because it synergizes so well with the attack rate of bio, they shoot so fast that any attack upgrade will very quickly stack up and pay for itself. Compare this to protoss where they don't shoot as quickly, many protoss (against T) often go for +1 ground armor, in order to make their units more cost-efficient and take more shots to kill (ex, you want zealots to live long enough to get into the action).
