This is a pretty nooby question(just got this game) but as protoss how do you attack someone who puts a bunch of cannons on top of their ramp? I ended up just using warp prism to warp in units from the back but my units in front of his base where just sitting there.

One strategy is to take a 2nd base, since he's hiding in his base, and just have twice as much stuff in the long run. By having two Nexuses, you can mine out of two mineral lines at once, and get up to 4 vespene gasses, letting you make an enormous army.

This is known as "expanding", and is a common tactic at high levels of play. Professional Starcraft 2 players "expand" in almost every game. By taking your (Wiki)Natural Expansion, you safely get more resources while you can just hang out outside his base and starve him out, like a medieval siege.

Another tactic is to change your (Wiki)Warp Prism back into "transport mode", and have it pick up your army and put it in his main. Warp prisms can store up to 4 gateway units inside them and ferry them around. Once you're inside his base you can kill him without fighting his cannons.

I'm playing the practice ladder to get my basic mechanics down and usually expand early regardless if the opponent is turtleing or not since they don't put on early pressure at that level. I didn't know that the warp prism could transport unit, thanks for that tip. Lets say I couldn't get units behind their base and had to attack through the ramp, is there a good way to do that?

OK, so I don't know the appropriate thread to ask this as I couldn't find a "simple questions, simple answers, sc2 general". It's not exactly a strategy question, so I apologize in advance--I did try to find the most appropriate place.

I'm trying to find a video clip where Idra coins the term "Artosis Pylon" during the NASL Season 1, Week 5, Cruncher vs. Ensare game. I don't hold a subscription to NASL (yet) and I was just wanting to see this snippet, not really the whole video. Does this exist anywhere?

Thanks in advance! ^^

I have a small question about Protoss vs. the 1/1/1
I've personally never seen the 1/1/1 used against me, but I've noticed that the T uses a Raven, and I'm guessing for the PDD.

My question is, will hallucination counter this?
I've recently noticed hallucinated units take off PDD energy, and even if the raven does spot its a hallu, they will still help vs. the PDD. You could probably pull real units back to let the Hallucinations tear down the energy first.
So, yeah...is this viable?

I don't remember the game, but I'm nearly positive it was a game played on Typhon Peaks, if that helps narrow it down. (edit: Apparently, it was Week 4 against Fenix)
(edit2: actually, I totally misread your question, sorry)

For my question, is there a graphical difference between a Warp gate that is on vs. off cooldown ?

As Protoss you're really stretching your resources when defending against a 1/1/1. Hallucination costs money, as well as energy. That energy could be going into FF's and/or Guardian Shield...

1-1-1 is so popular as being strong vs protoss....

However when I look here

http://wiki.teamliquid.net/starcraft2/1Rax_1Fact_1Port

I cannot see the 1-1-1 everyone talks about being sooo strong vs Protoss. What is the Build Order?

And also, is it really strong vs P OR is it only strong when it is an all-in? (include SCVs)
Regarding the imbalance, hilarious to see Zergs defending themselves....

It is a variation of the http://wiki.teamliquid.net/starcraft2/Polt_timing_attack_(vs._Protoss) I don't think anyone has transferred a newer version onto Liquipedia yet.

Instead of going marauders you go siege tank marine banshee (sometimes with a raven). Use bunkers to make it hard for the zealots to get to your tanks and the banshees as spotters for your tanks. There are so many variations of this all-in that it is hard to pinpoint one exact build.

ZERG QUESTION:
When you land your larve injections SPOT ON, spending all your larve on drones.
How do I spend my money?

It usually comes to a point for me around 60-70 food where I find myself clueless of what to do, I've spent all my larve and I couldn't be more accurate on the injections.

Yeah but still, I cannot seem to find a guide that says to make mass marines, tanks and banshee. Maybe it is pretty new and wiki has not been updated

But basically just make many banshee tanks and marines right? Around what time should I be aiming to push?

Basically whenever you have 2-4 tanks (with seige), 1-3 banshees (no cloak) and constantly make marines (1 rax w/ reactor is common). Raven = optional but really good.

Build is something like
- Rax
- 1st Gas
- Orbital
- Reactor on rax (produce constant marines)
- Factory
- 2nd gas
- Tech Lab on Factory (produce constant seige tanks and research seige mode)
- Starport
- Tech Lab on Starport (Raven first if expecting DTs, otherwise banshees with Raven optional)

You can delay seige mode and get the starport faster, as you won't need it until right as you push. So maybe start it when you start your first banshee, then push once your 2nd banshee completes.
As stated above, there are many variations of this build.

Push and continue to rally marines, tanks, and banshees. Bring 4-12 scvs for bunkers/repair.

Other thoughts: A medivac might be worth your time, but then again it might not. The marines are your mineral dump, the seige tanks and banshees are the damage dealers. When pushing, target and Voids/phoenix with marines. Auto-turrets from ravens generally are not as good as PDD, unless you NEED it to kill a VR. If there is too much air, get 1-3 vikings. instead of banshees.

Not sure if this is the right place but...

How come everyone I play is Top 8 Gold and I'm beating them but it's not promoting me?

I was Bronze (had been playing for 2 weeks when season 2 ended) and I've been 1st in Silver since pretty much the start of the new season. Am I getting swindled?
