How good/viable is a "mix everything" army? For example as Terran, I go MMM. But also I incorporate a few tanks, thors and banshees. Basically using almost every single unit. Is this good? It's not. If you spend a lot of money on random tech choices rather than units, you will have a smaller army eventually. In your case you need vehicle upgrades and extra tech labs, siege mode, more factories and more starports as opposed to spending what you have on your core units, so you will inevitably have a LOT less. Any other reason mate? I mean, I think it is quite nice to incorporate many varieties of units in one army. Sure upgrades may be expensive but your enemy will be confused as well, having to think about each unit to counter because you have so many different types of units?
Also as you tech to whatever there's a big timing window were you don't produce units and he can just come in and kill you. Say i'm up vs your mmm+thor/banshee army...im pretty sure a standard colossus/gateway/ht army would deal with that just fine without needing to think about counters and whatnot. Essentially, if you try to do too much at the same time your tech is spread too thin and your army ends up beind weak; it's why you see many pros stick, for example, to zealot/archon in pvt with maybe a forge upgrading and that's it until they have their third. Plus, what purpose do tanks, thors and banshees exactly serve? What do they accompish that mmm+g/v doesn't? You are losing lots of mobility to gain little.

I'd like to know which is the best Tier 1 basic unit in its most upgraded form? Assume it to be a straight up match with as best kiting involved.
is it 4 zerglings with the crackling speed upgrade on creep? 2 marines with stim combat shield? or 1 zealot with charge?
Btw, assumed all attack, armor/shields are upgraded to level 3?
Scenario would be all battles/engagements on creep? Don't know though if there is any benefit if one side on a cliff face or if its open space for a theoretical surround advantage for the zergs?

I've got a question. How to beat helion/marouder combo as zerg at about 7 minutes? Even if I scouted that at 6min?
|
Can someone give me some info on where to buy the Taiwan version of starcraft so I can play against Koreans, as well as the EU version. I checked amazon and I can't find anything.

I'd really need to see a replay to help you but at 7 mins a couple spines and several lings should ward off any hellion marauder pushes. Maybe get one extra queen at your natural to tank some damage.

when you live in eu and want to play on kr/tw server, are there still lag issues or rather is the lag a big problem at a certain level? someone with experience?

Yes, I'd say around half a second lag from Europe to TW. Probably the same from US. There are ways to get around with using VPNs, which have no personal experience with. Its said that some Korean Pro teams use them to play lag free on the NA server for tournaments and such. So I guess they work.

To make my switch to Random complete, I need to learn to play Terran too. Now, I'm looking for some (macro- oriented) builds as Terran. They should not be too hard to execute at first, but leave room for improvement! Do any of you have any suggestions as to what Builds I could try to use for this? I was thinking of: TvP - 1 Rax no gas FE into 3rax/1fac/1SP+double ups TvZ - Reactor Hellion into MarineTankHellion (I like to think that 1 Reactor Factory is a really good addition instead of another reactorrax, as blueflame splash rules bigtime vs Zerglings) TvT - No Idea, I guess both other build work quite well?
Also, I'm looking for a HerO to stalk. Who is a really good, solid Terran Player of whom there's quite a lot of replays around, who is easy to stalk?
Kind regards and thanks in advance, Toastie

MVP I guess is the hero to stalk, but finding replays from korean players can be tricky. Sjow has a really nice style which focuses on macro and strategy, and less about micro. And there are a lot of replays around from him.

Can someone explain to me if it's possible to remove a unit or building from a 1-0 hot key? For example if your nexus is set to 1 and somehow you accidentally add a gateway to 1, how do you remove the gateway from 1? Or is 1 forever set to be your nexus and gateway and there is no way to remove the gateway permanently from 1 and you have to set your nexus to be a completely different number?

just click on the nexus and "ctrl+1", and the nexus is now the only thing in control group 1. If you want to remove just one item: click on the hotkey to get the group up, deselect the gateway (by holding shift and clicking on it), and remake the hotkey with "ctrl+1"
If you mess up the hotkeys, just select the units or buildings you originally wanted to bind, and bind them again. Everything else disappears from the hotkey when you do.
You choose exactly what you want to have in the hotkeys. The only thing you can't do is "clear" a hotkey so theres nothing on it (Unless you bind a building or unit that gets destroyed).

Quick question: Was the final Grandmaster rankings for Season 2 ever published anywhere? I'm looking for a complete list of all 200 Grandmasters as they were as the second Battle.net season ended 26th of July.
And, asking for a favour, I'll try to return one as well.
KillerUnit: You can shift-click away units/buildings in the middle part of your UI, i.e. the part between your minimap and your command icons. When you have several units/buildings selected, they will show up as small icons in that area, and if you hold down shift and click on one of them, they will disappear from your selection. Then, when you're satisfied with the group of units/buildings, you just assign them to the hotkey you like, overriding whatever selection was bound to that hotkey previously. It is also possible to just click on the Nexus once and assign it to a hotkey. When you assign a hotkey, it binds your current selection to the hotkey, you can't add one and one unit/building to a hotkey, if you have to have them all selected when you bind them.
(It is also possible to press e.g. shift-2, and thereby adding the entire control group #2 to your current selection).
Edit: Got beaten to it. Oh well, it's the thought that matters, eh?

In bnet ui:
My Profile -> Leagues & Ladders -> GrandMaster -> click on one of them who was GM last season (sixjaxDDE, for example) --> Leagues & Ladders --> Last Season
This brings you to Season 2 Grand Master ladder.

Thanks! Is there anyway to find the listings for other regions than your own?

http://www.sc2ranks.com/gm/
I believe this is a list of who has been in the GM league of all times. I'm not sure if it can be used to track back to who was gm at the end of last season in the different regions. I know its not what you asked for, but its the closest thing I know of.

I'm a gold zerg and I need help in zvp. I never have enough units to deal with the push that comes at 10-12 minutes. How do you know when to stop droning and start getting units out? Here's a couple replays.

why don't many Zerg pros get Overlord Speed?
I feel like it's such a useful upgrade for scouting and getting your overlords away from attackers.

Scout his base at 8 min mark with overlord.
Copy builds of pro players. Scout as much as you can. Make as much units as possible as fast as possible. Practice mechanics by playing with focus on macro.

many zerg pros DO get this upgrade. usually you don't rush it after lair though since gas is crucial during that moment of the game.
