I was wondering why people don't use more raven play to deal with that - a few hunter-seeker missiles would destroy clumps of sieged tanks, forcing a withdrawal, especially since it outranges any ground armies which could defend the tanks.
Any reason why nobody does this? Zerg player so no idea why it isn't used, as I assume there is a good reason for it not being used. I just don't really know what that is - an investment issue? Seeker missiles are bad against tanks (and the marines just run away) because they are big and don't really clump up and they take two hits to die. So to have enough ravens with energy for both seeker missiles and PDD:s do some damage you need to make a huge investment with all the tech. It is probably better to go BC:s if you transition into air.

Yeah, I'd say IdrA. I don't watch a lot of zerg streams, but when I watch his, he explains his thinking re: scouting and what his plans are, and he also teaches lessons sometimes. http://www.teamliquid.net/video/streams/IdrA
Day9 also does casts of zerg games where he explains zerg tactics and strategy, but he's not zerg-focused: his casts cover all 3 races.

Does the Zerg powering style (ie. sacrificing units for infrastructure to later flood the enemy with units) is viable as Protoss???

Expoing quickly / spending early chrono boosts on probes rather than units is viable as Protoss, and will let you catch up with Terran's ability to mule.
However, it's general considered a good idea to put some pressure on zerg players, as the larvae mechanic lets you drone harder than chrono boosts, but takes a harder hit when you have to make units than chrono boost does.
As a general rule, you can chrono boost probes while continuing to produce sentries and eventually teching to colossus, since chrono boost on a nexus consumes minerals but not vespene. This is the basis for the 3 gate sentry expand.

What is the current full condition of stalemate in SC2?

The relevant patch notes:
Patch 1.2.0 Stalemate Detection has been added. This will end the game in a tie for all remaining players if no players have income, production, or destroyed structures for three consecutive minutes. A countdown timer will now appear when the game detects this scenario.
Patch 1.3.0 The stalemate timer will now reset when any player gathers resources, researches an upgrade, produces a unit, constructs a building, or destroys an enemy building.

Does being a top rank in your ladder division (say i'm ranked #1 in 1v1 silver) promote me to gold next season? Or is the whole ladder ranking just for pride.

Short answer: No, and yes, sort of.
Long answer: read the comprehensive ladder guide at http://www.teamliquid.net/forum/viewmessage.php?topic_id=195273

What would you say is more important in ZvT, armor or attack?

On June 01 2011 07:24 Probe1 wrote: What would you say is more important in ZvT, armor or attack? I think for the long-game you really need both, but I tend to prioritize attack upgrades as quite often you want your units counter attacking and not directly engaging in which case attack upgrades are better.

A lot of the top na gm players don't have that many games played. Roughly what is the ratio of custom games they play to ladder games?

kk thank you. I was thinking zerg is best in numbers and the more and longer each unit survives the better off you'd be.
