There's a McDonald's just downstairs from my building and when I walk by I've seen free wi-fi ads on the window.

Hey guys
I've been thinking and I'd like your feedback:
what would hurt more? a marauder drop where you can snipe 1, maybe 2, tech buildings or an octo-drop where you have the possibility of maybe killing the whole mineral line if your lucky (depending on reaction time)?
|
what's the best reaction to a hellion drop if you didn't place units in drop positions? split scvs, just leave them mining, or what?
|
what is the disadvantage for a zerg who goes for a very quick lair vs Terran?
My mate always goes fast lair --> mutas. I need to punish him more, whats the best thing to do?

I read a post that boxing them all, pressing stop, and then mashing the idle worker hotkey while sending them in different directions is good. Otherwise you could always try to get away but the hellions will probably catch up and kill a lot.

If you can kill a tech building just in time to stop finishing something like +3 attack or extended thermal lances then I'd say for for that. As for octo-drop I suppose you mean marines and you probably won't get more than 5 kills on higher levels if you don't stim and chase them.
Edit: Just getting some lesser upgrade is good as well, noticed I listed some end game upgrades only.

Whats the ideal graphics settings to play as when playing SC2?
I see all the pros like Catz and Idea using low settings but do they do it because its more aesthetically pleasing or just for streaming?

If there are only like 3 or 4 normal hellions, I don't bother to move the scv. Usually my army is here in time and I don't lose more than a couple. If they are blue flame, or you are caught completely with your pants down, then indeed the correct method is the F1 split. Box all workers, press s, then hold F1 and click around in a circle on the minimap. Once the threat is gone, just press shift + F1 and click back on a mineral patch.

Low settings have less little details which can bother you while playing. Also, there isn't a computer in the world who can run a 200/200 vs 200/200 fight with mother ships involved with more than 60 fps so in these rare situations, low graphism is better.
Some people also say that low settings + ultra textures and ultra effects makes you see cloaked units better.
|
Low settings equal more FPS. For me playing with 100+ fps is much better than 20-30, depends on your hardware. Rest is just personal preference, but there are few things you can see on high settings but can't on low, like shape of units warping in.

Must ... avoid ... Pulp ... Fiction ... reference ... about ... McDonald's ... in ... France ... can't ... resist ... too ... strong.
Ahem...
Where I can find a good thread on the TZ 2v2 speedling/hellion rush? I've been trying to execute this build but I feel like the timings are a little off for Terran (Zerg is just 10 gas/9pool/15queen, get metabolic boost and nonstop zerglings, right?). The only threads I can find are in the "Closed" category and don't have a decent description of the BO.

which one comes first? chicken or egg? probes or pylons?

It's becoming demotivating to play the game. I'm beating gold, plat AND diamond players while sitting in silver league, don't worry, you are not alone it took forever for me to get out of silver...and then i spent ONE game in gold. so maybe something like that will happen for you guys

What is a good ratio of medivacs to infantry units? 1 medivac for every 8 infantry units or?

On May 25 2011 19:20 Malystryx wrote: What is a good ratio of medivacs to infantry units? 1 medivac for every 8 infantry units or? I wouldn't really think of it like this. if you have a starport, you should pretty much constantly building medivacs out of it if you don't need vikings. If you find your ratio geting too high it actually probably means you're getting your reactor on your starport too early or even getting starport too quickly for your bio-heavy army.

Here's the closest thing we have to what you're looking for. It's written from a Terran perspective so I think this should work for you well:

Can someone explain the basics of drone micro vs <10pool?
How to surround and general tactics for not totally f'ing up your worker line?

How the hell does Z beat immortal/archon/stalker?

Abuse mineral walking as best as you can and delay until your spawning pool is up. If you hatched first, you can probably kiss that game goodbye however....
Use mineral walk to glide through your opponent's lings, and then A-move the moment the drones are on top of the zerglings to get the best possible surround you can. However, if your pool is close to completion, run your drones off creep and get lings out to defend.

Ling+infestor works really well against that. Fungals on the stalkers and Archons will protect your infestors while dealing good damage and allowing your lings to get a good surround. Neural parasiting archons can be super effective as well since it takes a lot of splash damage away from you and turns it onto your opponent.
