You saw your opponent run into your base with 5 drones. There is absolutely NO reason you should have let them drop all 4 so quickly, and without any resistance. If you had, instead of plopping the roach warren, done the following instead.. 1. PULL MORE DRONES. If you see more than 1 spine crawler go down, pull more drones and have 2 groups, so you can kill 2 spine crawlers at a time. 2. make a spine crawler of your own. Probably 2, if you notice you're not going to be able to kill all 4 at once. 3. Keep your drone at their ramp. You'll be able to spot if anything is coming (lings, drones for a rush) and you'll be able to react accordingly. | ||

Roaches clearly take too long to build to stop this cheese if you only see the incoming drones as they enter your base, so don't think you can put up a late reactionary roach warren when you see 5 drones inc. and they start putting down spine crawlers. Without those roaches, you wouldn't need any more gas -- just keep the ~50 you had and send those three gas drones to mine. Instead, make your 6 lings and send some more drones. Or, I guess you could just send more drones and keep the roaches up. tldr; The roaches and continued gas-mining, at least without the addition of more drones to attack, were an awful idea. | ||

in ZvZ you should scout early(before 10), and you start saving minerals at 12 incase your drone scouts a extremly early pool. Throw down a pool if your drone scouts a pool constructing, 12 pool stops all early ZvZ cheese. If your drone scouts no pool, you can drone up and do a 14 gas 14 pool, 14 hatch or whatever. The normal spine crawler rush are either 7 pool with 1 spine crawler or 8 pool with 2 spine crawlers. Make sure you have enough minerals/larvae to spawn 3 sets of lings immediately after the 12 pool finishes. When you spot drones and lings come toward your base, pull all your drones off mining(you should have 13-14) and have 3 attacking each spine crawler and rest chase the lings. Micro your drones and click the wounded ones back to mineral, once your lings pop it's over for him. hope this helped | ||

the important thing is to keep the scout in his base and also get an OL to his ramp or near his base if you can. early pool with no gas means cheese, so prepare mentally. a very important thing to look out for is: is he saving larvae? if so, he will ling rush you, but if he keeps droning, theres still a possibility of fast roaches. if you see him saving larvae and 3 eggs morphing as soon as the pool finishes, pull your scout back a little (down the ramp for example) so it wont be killed by lings as they pop. keep it close to the enemy base unless you have an OL watching the ramp. Watch what is coming out of his base! if you see him pulling drones, you know that a spine rush is coming and can put down a spine of your own which will help greatly with that kind of push. If his lings get to your base before yours are finished, kite im with the drones until your lings pop, then attack. finish off any crawlers that are building with lings and drones (i think 4 drones per crawler do it) and resume mining. you have won the game. Summary: Scout, dont panic. P.S.: i learnt how to defend it by trying to do it myself and seeing how others fought it off. i dont like cheesing, but it can help sometimes! | ||
