How to counter a ZvP proxy 2 gate rush?

Im number 1 in my division in silver league and Im just about to Gold, my opponent is in gold league. I just played a game on Blistering Sands as Zerg againts Protoss where the Protoss double proxy gated me in that little spot behind the 2 gasses at the natural. I scouted it when I sent my drone at 9 supply just after I started making an overlord. Once I realized there was nothing in his base I cancelled my FE and Immediatley built a spawining pool knowing that he was going for some sort of cheese. soon after I scouted where the proxy gates were at. Just as the pool finished his first zealot arrived in my base and all I had was probes so I lost like 3 in order to kill It. about 8 more zealots came in sets of 2 and i could barely hold them off with lings queens and spine crawlers. They stopped coming so I knew he was builing up a larger army to attack me shortly. I threw down a Roach Warren and researched ling speed. Once I had about 20 speedlings I tried to push out to see what he is doing but he completely walled me off with his units and he had about 12 zealots and 4 stalkers. My 4 roaches and 20 speedlings were no match and I lost shortly after. I could only think of 2 possible solutions but I doubt either would work that well.

1) If I were to notice the proxy pylon earier I could send like 6 drones to the pylon and destroy it before he could throw down the gateways but that would screw up my economy big time and even If I did destroy It whats to stop him from just making another pylon a little further back and make 2 gateways there?

2) I could have used my roaches to destroy the rocks at my back door (not a possiblility on all maps because not all have backdoors) and then sent a bunch of lings to his base and destroy everything. I still wouldnt win though because he has those gateways still up with his army protecting them and at that point and there is a good chance he would try to base trade me with all my lings at his base and he would win that easily.

Ive looked online everywhere and Ive only found a few ways to beat it but all of them relied on the fact that they could destroy the pylon powering the two gateways and then destroy the enemies base. Does anyone know how to counter this. I cant find a counter anywhere online and I dont fell that I have a chance at wnning against this.

save larvae for 6 lings for when pool pops, get queen, place spine crawler. then get gas and roach warren.

oh yeah you definetly have to cancel any expo hatch.

Thanks for the response but that wont work. 6 zerglings cant even kill 2 zealots unless u have insane micro (which I doubt u can even then) and not to mention that queens and spinecrawlers don't really solve the issue of there being 2 gateways at my natural and I have no way of expanding. Also queens and spinecrawers suck against zealots in larger numbers. just roaches are not helpful to a zealot stalker mix because if I attack the zealots (the right way where u move and shoot repeatidly) I get outranged by stalkers and If I attack stalkers I get owned by speed zealot surround (I forgot to mention that in my first post but yea he had speend zealots).

Against a proxy 2 gate you just 1 queen, lings and 1 spine crawler should be enough. Drop a creep tumor so after you hold off his attack you can slowly inch your crawler toward his crap. Then get some roaches and it should be GG.

There is no way you should be facing speedlots if you are getting proxied. If the game lasted that long you already lost.

As a 1400 Diamond player when I come across proxy gate rushes I just turtle up till I can get roaches out and that ends any sort of threat from proxy gating. Roaches absolutely rape zealots so if you are losing to pure zealots you are just getting outmacroed. Just make sure you get a spine crawler down and pump out lings till roaches get out. I think the biggest problem may be your lack of being able to micro and macro at the same time. Keep in mind you want to try and defend at your choke and not inside your base where you will end up having to pull your drones off minerals which means you lose money. As long as you scout the proxy gate early there is no way you should lose to this outright.

6 lings kill 2 zealots without micro. If th e p player doesn't micro, and the zerg player does, no lings will die.

Your opponent chose a terrible position to proxy, because you were basically guaranteed to scout it. Once you scout the gates, don't attack the pylon. Send 5 drones to attack one gate. This will definitely kill the first gate and possibly the second depending on how fast you reacted. Build spine crawlers. Don't get gas. Mass zerglings. Zerglings are more cost efficient than zealots in low numbers as 3 zerglings defeat 1 zealot. The only micro you need to do is get a surround. Run by into his base if he doesn't attack you.

You defend it by popping lings like crazy, never stop injections for a moment and throw up 2 crawlers even at the cost of a few drones. Once the crawlers are done you're more or less good to go for a while. Now with your base secure you can either try and clear his army if he's not pumping as hard or run lings to his base and kill his probes. The weakest part of the proxy is that his military and his economy is separate so as long as you can force him to sacrifice one to protect the other, it will set him back a long ways.
