I recently discovered that Terran SCVs can repair mechanical Protoss units, which is another big change from SC1. Only reason I mention it is because I hadn't heard of this change mentioned in any forum or video I've seen, and haven't seen it in any games I've played yet.

Pardon me if this is a repeat post or if this is more common knowledge than I think it is. Might be because I'm a Zerg player.

This is not true. They can look like they actually repair but they just enter the repair animation and nothing happens. It's a bug.

Are you sure about that? In like patch 3 or 4 I filed a bug report that terrans could repair their protoss ally, and at least back then they really did repair. I'd be surprised if they fixed the repair part but not the animation part

lolz, the nice thing is ..... if you can't repair the protoss allies, and just the animation is there as a distraction, do you still lose resources for repairing the protoss unit ? or the animation is doing nothing at all but keep the SCV busy.

i want to note that making the SCV animation the same while disabling the repair is not a good workaround

What happened was this. I was dinking around by myself checking how well what kills what and how many it takes and what not in an offline game. I had a few SCVs on auto-repair so I could fix up some Terran units. I sent a damaged Immortal over to the place all the Terran units were so I could use it for something, then all the suddon the SCVs fixed it up. Now I'm not sure if it only worked since the Immortal was mine and the SCVs were mine as well, or if this is a normal thing. Also, I made this post right after I found out and had logged off the game, so I'm not actualy sure if its ALL Protoss units or just a bug with that one.

I've seen a lot of replays where Terran SCVs are used to repair expensive Toss units like immortals and colossi. I don't know if it's a bug or not.. but Blizzard must know about it and they haven't done anything. Hopefully, it's here to stay ^^

You can repair your protoss ally units. I've done it a lot of times by having SCV's following my partner's units. I've repaired Motherships, Colossi, Immortals and even probes.

I've seen a lot of diversity between the races, you can even have your medivacs following zerg units and heal them like Medivac healing Mutalisks, or even Medivac/Ultralisks combos.

this not being true is not true You can repair toss "mechanical UNITS" (not building, cuz they're not mechanical), albeit in a slower rate

It's true - scvs can repair toss mechanical units. Unfortunately toss buildings are neither mech, nor bio, so their health can't be repaired/healed by anyone.

Note: this only restores the health, not the shields. This means a strong shield unit like Archon can't be supported efficiently by healing allies.

Funny... I distinctively remember repairing my ally's collosi with my scvs. I love doing that in 2v2s.

Repair definitely works. In 2v2s I send my phoenix's to my buddys base and his scvs repair them all up.

queen heels bio, so probably but since bio slowly heals itself, that's all good.

Don't worry, zerg is still the 'best' race

Yes, queen can heal all bio: zlots, templars, MM, reapers, ghosts. For everything else - SCVs. (Archons are neither bio, nor mech, so no help for their health, but they are mostly shields anyway)

Marines, Marauders, and Zealots healing themselves is news to me.

Wonder if this will actually make a difference in 2's. Protoss units are expensive and strong so it would be smart to.

Unless things have changed over the past few patches, I know for a fact I have repaired partner's void rays before.

It's not a huge difference since it repairs so ridiculously slow and costs a lot more resources than repairing terran units.

What's worse is if your SCVs repair the protoss units instead of the terran units during a smaller skirmish since the healing actually makes a difference in who comes out on top.

It is nice to repair things like Collossus though, I find myself repairing an allie's collosus quite often.

Yeah, whenever i play terran in 2v2 i repair my friend's colossi and such. Medivacs can also zealots, i believe. I know they can heal zerg units.

Also, on a similar note, i think if you grant your partner control they can chronoboost some of your stuff. I only heard that from someone though, it could be wrong.

But yeah, each race seems to have mechanics that work on the others

Shields regen quickly enough we don't need a "repair" function for shields lol. Also I don't believe archons are mechanical.
What's that probe doing there? It's a scout. You mean one of those flying planes? No....

I'm bumping this because the first page was mostly "does it work?" and then just one more page... Not enough for something this interesting imo. I have been starting to use this quite a lot being T/P 2v2 player. Can someone help me think of good uses for this?

We tried mass scv-stalker+immortal oriented pushes with me going hidden banshee and stuff like that. Didn't work well.

The best usage so far is just randomly repair stuff like immortals etc.

Always nice to have repair on high HP low shield expensive units.... i.e. Colossus & Carrier.

And having like 10 scvs repairing a mothership is hilarious.

Tried this with mothership... um... : (

we won the game but not because of the repair. For some reason its slower on protoss units.

I wonder how zealot feels when he gets that massive zerg blood transfusion. Might be some blood type matching issue there.
Carrier has arrived.
