This article would have opened a lot of eyes had it come two years ago, but now it seems too late in the game to make any design changes.

I don't think it can cause any meaningful change since the changes are based on a totally different design philosophy than the original game This. Unfortunately, there are too many changes going on at once. There is no way Blizzard could use any of the feedback in their Starcraft 2 since this is a completely different game. I agree with OneGoal's original manifesto. I'm all for a culture were we play a lot of custom games with different balance and different map features, helping both Blizzard and fans to better understand balance and design. I just think there are so many changes it isn't even Starcraft II anymore. It may be useful to build a custom game scene culture, but I don't see it being use to give any useful feedback to Blizzard. I believe it goes without saying, I hope I'm wrong. Good luck!

The sc2 unit design group is in competition with OneGoal, and if Onegoal is acknowledged as a far superior mod/game than HOTS then DB and co could fear for their job (they probably won't lose their job as blizzard, despite being a billion dollar company operates in a very sloppy way). However, competition is always needed, and this may force Blizzard to step up their own game (with HOTS) and develop something better.

At this point, I do not care whether Blizzard will make the mainstream or leave it as a mod. I shall have a great game to play anyway.

What I see is OneGoal showing all the organizational and sheer power, all the creativity and entrepeneurship of the community. Maybe, after months or years, they can influence a thought on Blizzard design team. The most likely is that they are the pioneers of making the SC2 custom and arcade scene a little more like what we had in BW and War3. I fully support the innitiative as I have supported FRB. I believe this is going to be great. I believe it is things like this that makes games memorable. I just don't believe they have better insight or ability as SC2 designers than the team who created SC2.
