What are the better TowerDefense maps out there at the moment?

Played:

Red/Green/Blue/Black Circle
Mauls
Element TD (or some ripoff of it)
Zillion Zerglings
some others that aren't worth mentioning


Any obvious ones I've missed?

I don't know what TheVanished thinks on this, but I wouldn't call ZZ a TD. A TD map typically require the player to build towers to kill helpless enemies that do not fight back.

Anyways, I am a little sad right now that there are no good TDs on SC2 right now. I played some, but they all suck.

One thing you missed is the Pokemon TD.

ZZ isn't a tower defense. I just called it that to get publicity. :DDD

i havent played custom in a few months but all through beta and a month or two after the game came out standard tower defense was easily the best, hardest most diverse and most fun td.
Someone needs to tell the truth, but it shouldn't be my job.

Yeah infact I missed StandardTD from my own list, that has been my favourite so far. But there's only so many times you can complete it before you want a new TD!

I know this is a SC2 question but on PSN you can download Savage Moon which is an awesome TD where enemies do actually fight back.

Back on topic, I think the Circle series have been the best though it's very hard to get a group who dont just spam 80% difficulty games :/

I just have to express how much I miss the old Spiral TD's (everyone works together) and hell TD's from SC1, I really hope we get something similar soon.

As for SC2, i only played a few games of some spiral version where you get to choose survival or versus modes, but got tired of it after a few games

Endercraft is by far the best TD. How is it not on your list?

Pylon D was pretty fun, but only because I could build a zillion pylons near another guy's setup and try to kill him with all the extra spawns

edit: just realized Endercraft may not be on Europe

Just played "Bardocks Tower Defence 1" a few times cause it was listed under popular. Its played with 2 teams with 2 persons each.
If your ally sucks its very hard, because no matter who kills the creep in your team, both get the money.
If you start it alone you get double the income and then its quite easy even on hard. I think on "hard" the map is maybe bugged, cause the last boss had zero hp left and did not die. On "normal" that was not the case, but it didn't matter, was the last wave anyway and I am not playing it again to find out whether it really is a bug. All 40 Waves take about an hour to beat so quite long .

I really think SC2 is lacking good TDs. I think the odd damage system is to be blamed.

I have a really good concept in mind. If I have enough time over christmas to develop it, I will do so.

So far there aren't any good TDs on the US server. A couple of them are passable, but you get bored of them after 1-2 games.

I think most of them are just either insanely easy or insanely boring. There are some where you can literally afk for 10-15 minutes and come back without leaking anything, and others where all towers are basically the same, just with different damage. There's simply nothing interesting out there like WC3 TD maps had, and there's nothing with good replay value like SC/BW TDs had.

SC2 custom maps are lacking across the board. The few decent ones like Marine Arena and Battlecraft are still really poorly balanced so once you figure out what works it's pretty much a guaranteed win every game, which really cuts down on the replay value.

I would say wait until the expansion comes out. There will probably be some decent maps by then. People are still learning the editor now, so...

A big part of the problem is because of the way popularity is ranked. I have played some really fun customs with friends that simply are not popular. Probably because the most popular games are tug of wars which are really simple and laid back. :/

I am yet to find a good TD though which I think is pretty odd.

i think he means it's hard to do percentage based damage reduction in regards to how armor worked in warcraft 3.
