WCG Finals: That first game was an absurdly great match, and I thought Jaedong's inventiveness (particularly with all those lurker traps) was indicative of how terrifying his skill is at this point. The man has just not stopped inventing (not to say either player has), but wow, just wow; what a game! That match was ridiculous -- I sat there wondering if Jaedong decided not to infest those command centers out of respect for his opponent. Jaedong should be on fire after that finale. (Yes, I recognize that no one cares about the WCG as much as the OSL or MSL). Unlucky Factor: Flash is far more prone to stupid mistakes than Jaedong is (i.e., the-GomTV-Bisu move Flash pulled in Game 3 of the WCG finals, his loss to Effort in the 2010 OSL, and furthermore, the act of God that was the power outage -- he gets screwed often for dumb nonsense; Jaedong only has the infamous forgetting-to-upgrade-swarm under his belt). The Maps: Polaris Rhapsody: Jaedong is 5:2 v Terran and Flash is 1:1 v Zerg. Overall, Terran is favored over Zerg by about 21:15 (58%), but when it comes to T v J, the J seems to be doing pretty good. This statistic is particularly important given that it is the first and fifth game map, should there be a fifth game. Also, Jaedong handled Flash on this map in Game 2 of the WCG Finals. Favor to Jaedong Odd-Eye 3: both players are practically even on this map. Overall T v Z is 6:2, which is really not enough games to determine any balance. Neither player has won or lost enough on this map to make a call. No favor. Fighting Spirit: both players are practically even on this map. Overall, T v Z is very balanced on this map. Both players have beaten each other once on this map. No favor. Triathlon: Flash owns Triathlon, he simply doesn't lose on this map it seems; Jaedong is 3:2 on this map. In the one game Flash and Jaedong have played on this map, Flash won (though we might note Jaedong has toppled other Terran beasts like Sea and Light. Overall, the map seems to be pretty balanced on T v Z, but the sampling pool consists of too few games to be determinative. Favor: Flash Overall, I think these maps are pretty fair with a slight favor towards Jaedong (since Polaris Rhapsody is played twice, but I think the maps are too fair overall to allow them to sway the vote one way or the other. For these 3 reasons, each of them slightly favoring Jaedong with the sort of slightness that cannot be counted on for victory, I'm gonna make the extremely tough call of voting for Jaedong.
