Bisu becomes a T1 As many of you know by now, it has been reported that SK Telecom T1 has bought the Revolutionist, Bisu from MBCGame Heros.
SKTelecom's decline in Proleague ranks during the past years called for drastic changes. And drastic they were. Despite leading the team to victory over 3 Proleague Finals and a Grand Final, achieving what was called the "Over-Tripple Crown", the entire SKT1 coaching staff was released from the team, taking blame for the continuing decline. While interviews began for a new coaching staff, the company temporarily (and perhaps permanently) promoted progamers Oov and Kingdom to coaches/players.
The second move was to find a powerful protoss player. During their reign as champions SKT1 had a powerful terran line backed by a powerful protoss line, consisting of Kingdom and RainBOw as key players. But as the years passed, both players fell off the ranks, Kingdom fighting a difficult shoulder injury, and RainBOw being demoted to B-Team.
With the protoss lineup exposed, SKT1 was in dire need for new blood. Currently the only reliable Protoss SKT1 has is the rising star Best, who's macro-heavy style has helped T1 gain a few victories. And to add to that lineup, SKT1 turned their eyes on the Revolutionist. And that is where we stand. MBCGame has noted that there has been no hard feelings between the team and the player, nor was there any salary troubles (as was the case with July's move from MBC to SKT). Rather, both teams offered deals that were needed by the other, and both teams recognized that the trade was for the better future of the player, the teams, and eSport in general. It is reported by fomos that Bisu himself didn't have complaints to the ordeal.
What kind of changes Bisu will be able to make in SKT1, only time will tell. As far as past experiences go, players usually do not perform well when they move from team to team, but for the sake of Bisu and his millions of fans, let's hope that is not the case.
It is reported that SKT1 paid a transfer fee of 200,000,000 Won for Bisu, which estimates to about $200,000 USD.
Oov to announces his retirement On the Chinese New Years day, Oov posted a letter to his fans on his fan cafe. The letter explained his situation, and his future.
A few months ago, FiFo reported that Oov had slipped in the shower and cut his wrist. The injury was serious enough to hinder his practice, and for awhile he was unable to practice for long periods of time. With an already whithering drive, and an injury that was not healing, Oov admits that he was contemplating on retirement.
That's when SKT1 approached him with an offer. As explained above, SKT1 was ready to make changes. As Oov's future as a progamer hung in the balance, SKT1 spoke to him about becoming the new T1 coach. To Oov and SKTelecom, the timing was perfect. Rather than leaving the progaming scene forever, Oov was given a chance to Stay with his team, and rebuild what he was once a part of.
Meanwhile, Kingdom faces a similar situation. Kingdom had also sustained a serious injury, a shoulder injury that gave him two choices: enter a long-term physical rehab program or undergo surgery. After discussing the matter with his family and friends, Kingdom underwent surgery with success.
However, the problem still existed. With surgery comes recovery, and recovery takes time. SKT1 approached Kingdom with the same offer. Whether Kingdom will official retire as a progamer like Oov, or attempt to comeback as a player once he recovers is yet unknown, but at this point, it is likely that he will follow Oov.
The choice to make Kingdom and Oov coaches were, perfect. SKT1 needed a temporary fix, Oov and Kingdom needed a different role. Both are seniors in the team, with plenty of leadership experience. It is, perhaps, the best choice. After all, we'd rather see them constructing their team from behind rather than fall away from progaming all together, don't we.
This is big news.. But I have to admit I thought the line "Kingdom fighting a difficult shoulder injury" was funny.
Its not like these dudes are doing full impact sports, jesus. Please dont blame getting older, growing out of the game and losing skill on some shit like that. ; [

Kingdom practices a form of Korean kendo (sword fighting) where he suffered the injury -_-

I wish them both luck. They've provided much entertainment over the years, and I'm glad to have known of them. Starcraft will seem a little emptier, now, for a lot of people.
Bisu is coming back to his very mate - July. Period.
But seriously, this is really good for SKT and hopefully we'll see it becoming a strong power again. Is Midas still in SKT1? I miss his flawless TvP...
i think Bisu will have the freedom to do whatever he wants in his new team, just like Boxer in his days. But can the creativity of Kim-Teak Yong develop the talents of others? With such a practice partner like July Bisu's PvZ will kickass...again. And if Boxer comes back, than the "reds" will be really fun to watch
but i bet the skt1 staff woulda kept their jobs if they didnt play shitty players over and over why not just play kingdom, and all those guys all the time
fuck the rest of the other amatuers and unknown pros dont even hire them in the first place, waste of money
donno w/e i could be wrong.. but they did lose a lot.. so =\
Sad to hear about Oov though =( But I guess he'll be a great coach, he looks like an awesome guy and he should have learned a thing or two from BoxeR about motivation
Hmm wonder how Bisu will look in SKT1 colors... and with Bisu as a training partner/player, holy moley SKT1 may very well be a powerhouse again. Now all they need is The Emperor's return... asdf

Boxer 's return means nothing , i hate to say it but he got totally raped in the last few games- go check out youtube and see for yourself. The lack of practice is no excuse since DaezanG made it tru his groups twice- skt1 should focus on getting Sea in their lineup, because right now they dont have young and solid terran, man there is so much work to do in this team

ok
ever heard of raising morale? i guess the return of a legend in progaming history to his original team that he practically made himself means nothing then
Woah crazy news didn't see that coming!!!!! You read Bisu to SKT1 and everything goes in slow motion. Sea, maybe, but i NEVER tought that they go for bisu. I'm sure bisu had much less doubts because he saw how july wen't over there and didn't crashland, also it is an oporunity to grow, as allways.
I'm sad that oov retires, now it's final, but i somehow believe that he could do some good work as a coach. Just imagine him sitting there....as a coach. That's so crazy. Gogo OOV!!!! GOGO SKT1!!!
yes you are right, he can be icon or smth, he can attract the fans, but he simply cant improve anything, i mean in his last games his macro was so ugly to watch, he tries to beat the toss players like its garimto back in 2002 - using 1 base, making no expos... this is not the emperor we want to see. i'm afraid that in the invitational boxer will be sad to watch. don't get me wrong, i love him, but as you said he is a legend, and the best he can do is to be part of commercials or smth and get the game more famous
It doesn't matter how well Boxer does when he returns to SKT, if he returns to SKT. He made that team and simply be being there, I wouldn't be surprised if SKT's performance rose. I also have to wonder if July moving to SKT had anything to do with Bisu moving there.
I also hope Bisu romps it up. It's just a shame we'll never see those Sea/Bisu proleague shenanigans again unless one changes team :'(

BS lack of practice has made him weaker, ofcourse, but he is still so fucking strong. He's gone 8-5 in his last 13 matches (not offline games). Are you on drugs?!? Its almost unbelievable that he has stayed so strong despite being in ACE.
I really look forward to Boxers return. He and oov are like the ying and yang (micro and macro) of Starcraft. And then .. imagine: Boxer and OOV coaching Bisu .. (:
The first glimpse I had of Starcraft was a game with Iloveoov vs Reach on Mercury, I wish him all the luck in the world as coach and I hope that kingdom can make a comeback.
With Bisu SKT1 will have a truly scary lineup, Hope it goes well SKT1 Fighting!
I'm really pleased to hear this. Every sport needs a rich, villains team. SKT fit the bill perfectly now, I just wish they'd kept their old coach, since he seemed so arrogant.
Wow, maybe I'll start liking Bisu now since he's no longer part of the MBC team.
Now Best has an even bigger chance at being big, preferably he will absorb bisu's PvZ skills to complement his other great MU's (not to say that his PvZ has ever been bad, but to compare it to Bisu's...).
I don't mind Bisu joining SKT1 but I'm really sad about the oov news I thought he might cut down his gaming a bit and focus on ProLeague or individual leagues or whatever. But 100% retirement is harsh Anyways, at least he'll be a good coach hopefully.
good move from MBCGame, bisu showing a slump in form, and he has always underperformed in pro-league anyway. If the amount they received really is 200,000,000 won as rumored, it's well worth the money.
A very sad day. oov was my favorite progamer next to Boxer. Not really just because of the macro, but I fell totally in love after having seen some of his games where he defends like no one else, he really used SCV:s to the extreme.
I have never really liked Bisu but now when I've seen the B-net attack with him translated I think he is kind of ok after all. It's good news for SKT anyway, which is always good.
I don't know what to say about the coaching staff being fired. Jees I never expected that. I'm sure though that oov will have greater influence on the team, so hopefully SKT will win some games from now on.
When Boxer comes back, I hope he will become the coach and oov and Kingdom are healed and can play again. <3
hahah when skt1 cant rely on thier players they turn to their wallet hmm lets buy 2 time msl champ, bah i hate that im now unable to hate bisu as i use to with the rest of mbc
On February 11 2008 00:53 dinmsab wrote: I believe there's an error in the translation.. he cut himself in the shower, then accidently fell. It makes more sense that way. EmoOov FTW.
Wow that was unexpected. Just when MBC was doing so well with Bisu, really weird imo. Anyway I wish Bisu luck but am still extremely sad to see oov go.

my god im so fucking sad T_T
Eh, practically speaking the only time it will affect them to a large degree is in the playoffs (and when playing SKT1? :S). They get along quite fine without Bisu in the regular season. Although there goes my "play Bisu more MBC coach" spiel. >_>

the man raises a rational point ... ... ... i'll see how i feel tomorrow...
SKT is chasing the past. They think their getting a master Protoss player, but what they'll end up with is a player in a slow and painful slump (already began) who doesn't accomplish anything else.
I like Bisu as much as the next guy, but I think his reign is over, and I think this might be a mistake for SKT. Hopefully Bisu can prove me wrong.

he still has a year to go. Most New-age reigns last about 2 years haha
I forgot to add that MBC knows it will effect their team's performance, but they're confident enough in their training program that they'll be able to raise up new blood to replace him.
I think MBC has some nicely skilled newbies waiting to get their chance to show off.
This is so weird... I mean, it all makes sense, but still. Bisu, to me, epitomizes MBCHero. He IS the Hero. And he looked so badass in their uniform, and he'll look so awful in the SKT! uniform.
Don't really care about Bisu's move or Kingdom (before my time) but Oov was one of my favorite terrans right next to Boxer and Nada. That sucks to see him go.
i think bisu's slump was connected with his transfer from mbc to t1... i mean those things dont get arranged for a day or two, maybe bisu was just too focused on his future and didnt perform very well in the tournaments, now with the deal done he can relax and focus on what he does best - being the very best player of starcraft ! go get them Kim-Taek Yong, prove my statement, win the OSL and the invitational and show that you are the boss around here !
BOXER: So you little nubs are running my house huh!
Oov/Kingdom: Yepe lol, don't whip us!
This is some heavy shit, hope for the best! I really like the idea of player coach, they know what's up better than some 3rd party coach I think. But I never really fancied the old coach, he looks way to serious.
Love this, SKT is my favorite besides CJ. Kingdom and Oov as coaches seem awesome, they know how it goes, and Bisu/July on the same team should be awesome. If Boxer comes back to SKT after his service SKT could be insane.
wtf, how old is oov? retiring so fast...omg, u all r talking about boxer going back to sktt1, wtf, if it is, then oov will be the one who teaches back boxer instead of boxer teaching oov. this would be stupid...nvm, i think oov will come back just like boxer does
Don't really know what they were saying, but it looks like it was devastating for everyone involved. Not really a Bisu fan, but I hope this doesn't wreck him :<
