But not so high, that other tournaments look cheap, if compared. It's by Blizzard so of course they want to make it look like the most legitimate tournament even though they're borrowing other organizations facilities and staff to run it. It does have that WCG feel to it with all the regionals, continent finals and then finals etc. When the focus is on the individuals opposed to team formats I don't have many problems with what we've seen thus far at the top. As Victor pointed out, the problem is with the spread usually. Look at other individual sports like Tennis where the Grand Slam brings home 1.8 million to the winners then compare the scales and you'll see we're heading in the right direction.

Some country in South America do not have prize pool in liquidpedia page. The other big chunk missing is the Asia Continental which as no prizepool announced as far as I know. Also, add all the paid trips to this 711 000 USD plox. NICE PRIZE POOL Thanks for doing this calculation! And I think that the prize pool will be nice, not to little but not to much either. We need another WCS next year!

South America: 44.600 Europe: 189.000 Oceania: 30.000 Asia: 125.980 Global Finals: 250.000 Total: 759.580 There was some missing or no price pool at all for some South American countries. Now if you think about the 1,6 mill valve put into DotA 2, this is just under half, but keep in mind that Blizz pays for the travel to all of their events, they flew Tastosis across the world to try and get more attention to countries like the UK and Australia. I think if we knew the prices of all the plane tickets it probably wouldn't be much different in total prize money than what valve did.

better support for the players, rather than for publicity imo, since atm prize winnings are the main source of income for most sc2 progamers (e.g. not many people get big salaries, maybe that will change soon though). top heavy is good for publicity, but it's harder to survive of if you're average-ish imo i think a good spread is better ![]()

Because if 1 guy wins it all you have 1 very rich person and a lot of people with very little. If all the price money went to the winner, there would be no way for other people to work their way up to catch those guys because they just don't have the income to keep playing.
