the prize pool is much more evenly spread than the international, plus 750k (x5 for the non-team aspect) is pretty solid ;D

Why is evenly spread good?
Because if 1 guy wins it all you have 1 very rich person and a lot of people with very little.
If all the price money went to the winner, there would be no way for other people to work their way up to catch those guys because they just don't have the income to keep playing.
All the players winning any money at the global finals are most definitely well accomplished pros. Therefore your argument is irrelevant.
Lets please recognize that this is the most impressive esports effort that any company has ever done for eports trumping Riot, more then the fact that Blizzard put out over 500$ for WCS they also held over a dozen tournaments. With how Blizzard is approaching Hots and the fact that we have an insanely balanced game I think it's about time we show our love.

not really, a lot of these guys have teams, but not a solid sustainable salary

5? I only count 4. 28 Z & P, 4 T in the Asia final. It is incredibly unlikely that any of the Terran make it top 6 considering none of them are korean. So very likely, the World Finals will be, just like the Asia final
28 Z & P + 4 T
Fenix Lucifron MajOr Illusion
Interestingly enough, 3 of the 4 Terran at the world final are Spanish speaking.

There was some missing or no price pool at all for some South American countries.
Now if you think about the 1,6 mill valve put into DotA 2, this is just under half, but keep in mind that Blizz pays for the travel to all of their events, they flew Tastosis across the world to try and get more attention to countries like the UK and Australia.
I think if we knew the prices of all the plane tickets it probably wouldn't be much different in total prize money than what valve did.
Well if you gonna count travel and living expenses you shuld also count income, i dont know if dreamhack get the WCS beacuse of Blizz being nice or beacuse they paid the best? (Maybe im wrong here) also obvs DOTA pay travel
Dota 2 and Starcraft II prize pools shouldn't be compared imo. Of course it is everyone's right to compare anything, but publicly disputing the prize pools is just silly. Valve invests x amount of money while Blizzard invests y. The companies aren't head competitors, because the games are different.
On topic : The prize pool is impressive. 1st place taking 100k is not small at all. It's a start for bigger things surely, and next year it will be better!

DotA also pays travel, yes, but for Starcraft 2 I think we can both agree the travel / venue expenses are far higher, however TI2 makes up for that in prize pool, so that why I think it ends up kinda even.

Bear in mind it has to be spread between the team though. On topic: I think this is a sick price pool for sc2, and considering the absolute awesomeness that was WCS Europe, I really can't wait for this tournament :D
how the fuck whoever wins this can be called the world champon when there aint no best koreans players in this in the first place? Taeja would shit on all these kids no problem so will most top korean players so how the fuck is it a world championship when the very best arent even in it. fail
This is great. I'm really hoping the WCS goes super well and we see a lot of support for the movement. A big prize pool next year will help more players decide to dedicate more time, knowing there is big money in tournaments like this.
