The first infos on the WCS GrandFinal Prizepool were just announced by Blizzard.
"As the WCS comes to a close, it’s time for us to shift our focus from the journey to the destination. Earlier this week, we announced the format for the StarCraft II World Championship Series Global Finals. In two short months, 32 of the world’s best StarCraft II players will be traveling to China to compete for both country and a share of the $250,000 prize pool. The winner of the event will be taking home both the prestigious title of StarCraft II World Champion and a $100,000 cash prize."

My personal opinion:
I think it is a very good prizepool. It will still be the tournament, which will bring a world-champion, but it will not crush other tournament. Like "The International" with Dota. Every other tournament will come short compared to 1,6mio. And 100.000 for the winner and 150.000 for the rest seems pretty good for everyone competing at the world finals!

250.... 100.... they give stephano 100.000 $ ?
|
not bad for a sc2 event
edit: 100k for first, roughly the same as the first GSL which fruitdealer won?
|
Pretty much what I expected for first place, twice as much as blizzcon.

ooh not bad! biggest 1st place in sc2 so far i believe would've been nice for 500k pool though (200k for winner) haha

Holy shit. Huge price pool but then again it is the world championship.
|
wow 100k for 1st place thats sick someone gonna have good day xD
|
Pretty solid contribution from blizzard, especially considering the amount they threw at their national and continental qualifiers. And also considering they aren't in the arms race that valve and riot are stuck in.

Stop comparing individal prize pools and different games. The money is well spread in DotA2.
Once again stop comparing the two.

What's wrong with comparing things?

I think almost everyone expected something like that, good prizepool for an awesome tournament. I wonder what was the prizepool of WCS overally, it should be around 750K no? If you add all the travel cost that were paid by blizzard, they really invested a lot to make this tournament a real world championship.

I meant, its a well considered prizepool by blizzard. Its is still the highest first place we have seen so far. But not so high, that other tournaments look cheap, if compared.

Good prize pool! GO blizzard =) 250,000 for the championship alone, as well as the thousands in the previous event is pretty impressive!!
|
Glad they didn't go overboard like Valve, and still a sick prize pool!
