You properly have to pay for that

Like "The International" with Dota. Every other tournament will come short compared to 1,6mio. And 100.000 for the winner and 150.000 for the rest seems pretty good for everyone competing at the world finals!
Dota2 may have a 1 Mill for the winner, but that has to be divided by six. Six players or 5 players and the clan. Also SC2 has an event with huge prize pool like every 3-4 weeks nowadays, Dota2 has like one per year.

Would be awesome to see $1 million dollar prizepools though, or better yet $1 million for first place :D before that happens though, GSL and the other premiers need to step it up too so that the WCS doesn't outlcass them by 20x :p $1M is unreasonable imo, i would much rather see that $1M spread worldwide rather than to a 1st place for more player support :p
yep of course :D
1 million first prize GSL
and Code A round of 32 players still get 5,000 Code S ro32 players get ~100,000? :D
and $1000 daily playhem tournies kekek

Well if you add up all the prize pools for World Finals, Continental and National it's probably somewhere around 750,000

Glad to see Blizz is actually sticking with this instead of just patching and letting tournaments handle everything else. If the future of esports (riot, valve, and Blizz) are all giving back to the community in exchange for publicity it can only be a good thing.

That's awesome. It's even more incredible considering that only 1 man in the top 10 earnings has a shot at that. Wouldn't mind seeing some up and comer win it and instantly become a superstar though :p

There was some missing or no price pool at all for some South American countries.
Now if you think about the 1,6 mill valve put into DotA 2, this is just under half, but keep in mind that Blizz pays for the travel to all of their events, they flew Tastosis across the world to try and get more attention to countries like the UK and Australia.
I think if we knew the prices of all the plane tickets it probably wouldn't be much different in total prize money than what valve did. Valve flew every1 in aswell iirc. But that doesn't really matter, why would we bother comparing pricepools. Dota is a bigger game and it's played in a 5vs5 format. Can't we just be happy with this sick tournament? The difference being, valve flew every one in to 1 event. Blizzard flies pays for everyone at nations, regionals, and world finals. Blizzard paid for all of those to be live events as well. So in the end I think blizzard probably put in roughly the same amount of money as Valve (except valve's production cost on the international was probably astronomical so who knows)
