Will be even more interesting to watch with that much money on the line. I wonder how much impact it will have on the players.

Now if you think about the 1,6 mill valve put into DotA 2, this is just under half, but keep in mind that Blizz pays for the travel to all of their events, they flew Tastosis across the world to try and get more attention to countries like the UK and Australia. I think if we knew the prices of all the plane tickets it probably wouldn't be much different in total prize money than what valve did. plus dota2 is a 5-man sport ;D

Would be awesome to see $1 million dollar prizepools though, or better yet $1 million for first place :D

Not mention it is horrible spread, WCS have spread money over many differend players which i find far better

2. How did they choose direct qualifications for national champions into WC? I kind of understand United States and Canada in NA region or People's Republic of China/South Korea/Republic of China but why France, Germany and Russia in EU? Because of the population? Seems like Sweden and Ukraine is more legitimate choice.

![]() nimdil: USA sadly doesn't recognize Taiwan as country, and thus a big company like Blizzard could probably experience some problems if they used the RoC flag.

But that doesn't really matter, why would we bother comparing pricepools. Dota is a bigger game and it's played in a 5vs5 format. Can't we just be happy with this sick tournament? ![]()

I wonder what was the prizepool of WCS overally, it should be around 750K no? If you add all the travel cost that were paid by blizzard, they really invested a lot to make this tournament a real world championship. Yeah WCS totals out at around 750,000$, + unknown travel costs.

Total premier tournaments prize pool for 2011 was 2260k $... Right now Liquipadia lists 2154k $ for 2012 without the WCS finals and 2012 Blizzard Cup and 5 other listed tournaments. This means the total prize pool for premier tournaments will go up this year. And this will happen thanks to blizzard, who went up from 143k in 2011 to over 800k in 2012 (safe to assume Blizzard Cup will have at least 40k $ prize pool I think).
