TL Holiday Events

What's the holiday season without some TL-events? Where other people sit around the fireplace, warming their hands on some hot choco, we nerds bask in the comforting glow of our monitors. Who needs carols when you can listen to Marines dying? Who needs eggnog when you can have cheese? Who needs sledding in the snow when you can play some SC with your TL buddies? Check out below what we have in store.

On the 3rd of January (22:00 CET, 16:00 EST, 13:00 PST) we'll be doing a TeamLiquid Arena Xmas Special! What's Special about it? We'll be playing in Team Melee style!
Christmas is a time of getting together with friends and family. The more the merrier right? So hook up with a friend in and post in this topic listing: the race you two (or three) will be playing and links to your accounts that ended C+ or lower in the last season with a minimium of 50 games.

Maps will be picked by the hero from the ICC mappack (no repeats) and click the spoiler below for the list of handicaps:
+ Show Spoiler [HANDICAPS] +Units- Gas Cap - Hero can have a maximum of 2 Refineries
- M-Shop Cap - Hero can have only 1 Machine Shop
- Prod fac. Cap - Hero can have only 4 of any production facility (Rax, Fact, Port)
- No Dropships - Hero isn't allowed to make Dropships
- Max 1 Vessel - Hero is allowed to have a maximum of 1 Vessel at any given time
Upgrades- 1 Ebay / Armory - Hero can have 1 Engineering Bay and 1 Armory
- No Vult speed - Hero cannot research Vulture speed
- No Range - Hero cannot research Range Upgrades (Marine, Goliath, Ghost)
- No Vessel Spells - Hero cannot research any Vessel spells
- Impotency -Hero cannot research Siege Mode
Other- Kill ini worker - Hero has to kill one of his initial 4 workers at the start of the game
- No Scan (Scan cap) - Hero cannot build Comsat Stations
- Give vision - Hero has to share vision with his opponent
- No Minimap - Hero cannot use minimap
- No Lift off - Hero may not Lift Off buildings
- Fail Placement - Expanding CCs must be built 1 hex off
First come first serve so be sure to enlist asap

I'll be going through the Small VOD thread to find the best, worst, funniest and most inventive cheeses of 2009. On New Year's Eve, they will be compiled into a nice orderly list for everyone to enjoy!
Of course Liquipedia is joining in with the festivities as well.

Secondly, Slugbreath wrote an article on The 12 Days of Starcraft. I bet most of you thought it was just a song. Think again - it's actually a Blizzard-made UMS map (download here!) that should be a nice addition to your holiday activities
And last but not least, Liquipedia is keeping up with everything going on in TSL2, most recently updating the page for the Round of 48. Sadly enough though, most of these top players don't have a page yet (most notably so Brat_ok). We're always looking for people to join us in the effort of getting these up and going. If you're up for it, visit us on IRC sometime - we're a jolly bunch

Holy shit, team melee vs 2 D+ players who coordinate AT ALL is like playing a B player... Aerials is going to lose at least half his games. Have you people forgotten about the team melee team in TL.net attack which was 3 D+ players who raped multiple foreign stars with zerg? Team melee teams have perfect macro and perfect awareness of everything that is happening on the map.
And PS, who is commentating?

sounds like u made it too complicated about the hero rules, why not just say play with 1 hand to him? xd or drunk aerials against 2 c+ zergs with some cool commentary sounds like a fun event to me

Wasn't he alot worse back then? I'm talking like 2 years ago when TL attack just started. I swear to god Chill mentioned that Chava, Intrigue, and Rage were like D+ C- level players. And I remember the first game ever on TL attack with intrigue vs Incontrol, intrigue definitely played worse than a C level player.

I'm fairly sure that even then they were like C-, C level players. I remember that they were considered ok.

Littlechava is at least B- I think, lol. I don't think he improved that much since then... I'd be surprised if he was not at least a C+ player, maybe C at worst.

When we played the TL Attack team melees I'd say our skill levels were as follows: RaGe was C+/B- (has been for a long time, his game knowledge is pretty extensive and this is what keeps him at that level), intrigue was at C/C+ level, and I was C level at the time. Like Insane says, I've since hit B-, but I've played less since my peak so I haven't gotten any better. I'd be really surprised if two D+ players could beat a B- player, let alone a top foreigner.

Yeah Try, they are all C/C+ and some of them have hit B-... two D+ players will not beat a B player :/
You can put unlimited D+ players into a game and it doesn't really change their teams' skill level, and they will have far from perfect macro and micro.
