The year 2009 is almost over and we get to look back at many great StarCraft games of all kinds. On this last day of the year we’ll look at a subsection of these games: the Cheeses. We’ll take a stroll past the the most memorable, most inventive and the most annoying cheeses of the past year .
The Standard Cheese
With the coming of Winner’s League we saw the rise of a great many cheeses. You win your well-prepared game but now you’re up against some player/race/map you haven’t practised for at all… The solution? Cheese!

Before moving on to more interesting games, let's talk about Destination. It was the map that, in 2009, incurred the most omfg-I-hate-Protoss blogs. Rather than relive those moments, look at the next two games in which the Terrans make short work of their proxying Protoss opponent.

Protoss isn’t the only race with cheese though. Apart from their less-than-9 pooling a few Zergs stood out doing more ballsy cheeses.

2009 has had its share of drama. The worst cheese is when you’re rooting for your favorite player, fighting his way through the OSL or MSL RoX and seeing him get cheesed. You pray he’ll hold it off but infallibly the tension rises at these moments. Remember these games?

This cheese brought NaDa a 2-2 score and back into his series vs JangBi. He was knocked out of this MSL in a great 5th game.

fantasy < Holy World > Jaedong :: + Show Spoiler +Part of a series leading Luxury to MSL victory. Terrans used to hide their Rax to make their opponent suspect a proxy. Luxury’s 5 pool doesn’t care.
Leta < Destination > Luxury :: + Show Spoiler +Sparked a surge of Flash directed hate from crying Jaedong fans whose tears will only make this cheese more salty. Eliminated JD from OSL.
