Can't remember): there is second type of secret room that is always connected to (1) one (2)normal room. So it cant be connected to items, shops ... nothing that have an icon on the map. So it's usually pretty easy to find. So there are two secrets room per level. | ||

To add on to that, in the original, the secret rooms is usually adjacent to exactly 3 rooms vertically and horizontally. I.e. OOO OSO In rebirth, it's the same, but you have to examine the adjacent rooms to see if they're actually accessible from the proposed secret location. Imagine that you have a map layout that's something like this: ONO W?E And you want to know if ? is the secret room. You check W, N, and E and see if ? would be accessible to all of them. If, for example, E looks like this: + Show Spoiler + ![[image loading]](http://www.junkiemonkeys.com/wp-content/uploads/2014/08/Isaac1.gif) ? would not be the secret room, because it is normally inaccessible from E (due to the rocks). Also red chest are completely variable, and can be absolutely awesome (free devil items) or contain nothing. | ||
