Quick straw poll on the deadline - I was asked if I could move the deadline up an hour to 2200 BST (1700 EDT). Do people prefer the default time or an hour ahead? Personally I have no preference.
I sat across the table from both Celestial and Scott as I poured another shot of whiskey for each of them.
"So rayn is visiting you next week?" asked Celestial. "What for?"
"Holiday," I replied. "He's actually visiting several of his friends down here, but also we were probably going to meet up with some of the others we knew, have a few shots, shoot the breeze, catch up on life."
"Oh really?" Celestial replied, "too bad I've got interviews all week, otherwise I'd love to join."
"He's due in this weekend, but that doesn't mean we can't give him a good show," I replied, "my only thing to be nervous on is his, ahem, very discerning taste for whiskey."
"Discerning?" asked Scott, "surely he can't be more picky than my father. I mean, he won't go for the Japanese whiskey or anything crazy, but...."
I cut him off. "You have no idea Scott. He has drank spirits from pretty much everywhere. He's given me pointers on how to branch out based on my tastes but more interestingly he has pretty much all the knowledge you can imagine for any price point imaginable. I mean whiskey really is his thing."
"Surprised he doesn't just move further north and open his own shop if he thinks he's quite the expert," remarked Celestial.
"Well running your own shop is an entirely different animal," I laughed, "in any case, he's here this weekend. I am going to try and sort out my stash of spirits by then. Or at least take out the imposters before someone in his crew gets sick and blames it all on me."
"Did someone say free whiskey?" snickered Celestial, "well I could use a bottle of whatever in case those job interviews go south, you know."
"Or maybe one to celebrate?" I quipped. "Think positive! I think you will do quite well, but you'd be even better to head out and get a good quality bottle instead of the stuff I really need rid of."
The confirmation period has begun. PMs are going out. We are almost there! The game will commence tomorrow 28 September at 22:00 GMT (+00:00) or in .
Those on the roster, please confirm you're ready to drink up by typing ##teamwhiskey.
Those wanting the observer QT please PM either of Kelsier or Fidei86. Shadows have until the silence period (approx 45 minutes prior to start) to make arrangements if not done so already.
Also an FYI, we will not be using the script tracker for this game. Voting will be in the voting thread.
Finally, another reminder if anyone has any questions, you may ask openly until silence period. Once the game is underway do not ask the hosts questions in thread and only do so in PMs or your QT if it applies.

It shouldn't be, as long as the Americans actually play.... (glares)
Should be a fun game though, I'll try my best not to be overly abrasive, but I do apologize in advance.
I honestly had the same problem in my first couple of newbies....solo EU in a sea of Americans.
Blazinghand sighed as he wrapped up another workday coding for 18 hours. He met his girlfriend at the local lounge as she ordered dinner for two near the bar. He sighed as he slumped in his seat, exasperated.
"I need a shot or two, anything." he muttered.
"Any preference?" she asked.
"Not really," he replied, "maybe I'll start with a few fireballs and then work into something stronger. Really don't care, I just need to get out of work mode."
"Fine, two shots of fireball it is."
"Now about our upcoming vacation to Japan," he started, "what do you want to see? I have a list of 20 bazillion things and we really haven't made up our minds on what to do here."
"Hiking, for starters," she started, "the weather forecast is looking to be great."
"Alright, I'll sort a few days for that, definitely."
"How long of a layover do we have in Seoul again?"
"That's the shitty part," Blazinghand replied, "I want to say north of six hours. At least it gives us time to do duty free shopping. The whisky store there is supposed to be really good though. Looked it up, there's a few tastings available in the morning hours, which is about when we'll be landing."
"Getting sick of fireballs?"
"It's not real whisky, hon," he replied, "you gotta go micro really for domestics or out here? Australia or Japan. You could start with a Jameson though and see how it goes, I've always had a thing for Irish whiskey but in Seoul, Japan and Australia are up and coming things. It'll be a nice thing to pass the time."
"Probably too strong for me. I prefer the sweeter stuff."
"To each their own," Blazinghand replied, "but honestly you're there for a few hours, just try it, I think you'd be surprised on what you're missing out on. Most of that stuff you can't really get at home. So why not?"
Day 1 has begun. We are underway - Day 1 has begun! The voting thread is here. Day 1 ends in at 22:00 GMT (+00:00). At that time, the player with the most votes gets lynched.
