2014 Mafia Awards Thread
2013 was a great year for mafia. With a wave of promising new players and the return of many of our veteran players the forum experienced some of the craziest game setups, great individual and team performances, terrible individual and team performances (we still love you), and more mason claim problems than ever before. Here is hoping to a great 2014 year of Mafia in Liquidia. This intro paragraph was totally not stolen from the previous year.

Doctor Who Mafia 2 hosted by Crossfire99, LoneMeow, and Xatalos for Most Unique Setup:
Conversion setups are really tough to pull off and I think Crossfire and crew did a really good job here. There were a ton of town power roles in a mini setup where nearly everyone was blue, which was balanced against an interesting immunity mechanic that allowed the mafia team to no longer be affected by a role after the first time. The mafia numbers seemed to scale well into late game, while still allowing town to have a fighting chance during day two and three.
Cell Mini Mafia hosted by Artanis[xp], LoneMeow and Promethelax for Most Unique Setup:
The Cell Mini took a drastically different approach to the traditional lynch system by splitting players into groups of three, while ensuring that one mafia was present in each group. Players were forced to adopt a new way of scum hunting by focusing on a limited number of players each cycle. Additionally, an interesting no flip mechanic was introduced, based on the lynch selection. Traditionally, a no flip is incredibly frustrating to play against, however, with a 50% chance of a non-flipped player being mafia, this was able to be avoided.

Best Run Game
Catastrophe Mafia was a 30-player game with diverse and odd roles, and seemed to be run flawlessly, hosted by GreYMisT, Acrofales, and LoneMeow. The hosts and cohosts had a lot to manage - players had item inventories, a GP/currency system for two shops, many QTs, and two players that replaced, among other things! Really impressive.

Might as well nominate the whole game because the second lynch was on an inactive who was going to be modkilled and the third was on the uncc'd doc d3 resulting in a town loss.

I nominate D3 lynch from that game, it's clearly worse. D1 lynch had some form of logic to it though still ended up being bad (basically I and a few others disbelieved Cavalinho's cop claim, and the format was short enough [and semi-open] that the odds of him being able to validate it are long). D3 lynch was an un-cc'd doc after confirming that there was a cop and roleblocker in the game (aka confirming the format had a doctor in it).
Both lynches were pretty bad though. RIP that game

Also nominating Amiko and GlowingBear for Best Individual Newbie Performance for their complete dominance as players new to TL Mafia both with > 70% win percentages.

Nominating Imperial mafia for highest level game and Damdred and Artanis for best scum players in there. They managed to avoid suspicion up until the end and Artanis contributed the most to getting Palmar lynched who would have nailed the scum team the day after, but he totally got me to townread him and during EoD they managed to sway SL and Kelsier to a Lazermonkey lynch while I was sleeping, thus winning the game.
