I know many LoL fans talk about various features and stuff LoL has but honestly you gotta admit they're basically the same game There's nothing wrong with having to "grind" for heroes you want. In fact, in my opinion it's BETTER that way because it forces you to learn the mechanics of the game before you can get the characters you want. But that's just my opinion. If they're "basically the same game" then why is one "objectively better" than the other? Get outta here fanboi. LMAO I like LoL more because the graphics are prettier, the heroes aren't just War3 knockoffs and there are more modes to play. But that in no way makes LoL "objectively better" than DotA, that's my own subjective opinion.
They're the same game, but in one of them you don't get to play all the heroes all the time. The LoL play experience is as good as or better than the dota play experience. As a guy who plays probably 2-3 games a month, though, I don't have the time and don't want to spend the cash to get new heroes. I know how to play the game, I used to play rather extensively. Nowadays, I like playing new heroes without having to spend cash or time first. DotA is perfect for this, and LoL is profoundly ill-suited for it, for reasons that have nothing to do with the game and everything to do with the marketing / outside-the-game components.
For this reason, DotA is objectively better than LoL. For a casual player like me, DotA is perfect. For a hardcore player, League works great.

As someone who tried to play non-DotA UMS Maps during the DotA 1 boom in TFT, i hate the map with the white hot intensity of a thousand suns.
Because of it no one would play muh 1337 LotR spawn based maps (though we all tended to be elitist fuckers because newbies could crash games hard, always kick for vets yadayada). constant flood of DotA lobbies.
Also BH dont let the DotA 2 crowd hear you call D2 the casual game and LoL for hardcores. :p

The difference between DotA and LoL are like the differences between SC2 and WC3. Same genre, key mechanical differences which have a massive effect on the gameplay. Watching SC2 is nothing like Wc3 for instance. Neither one is better, just LoL has a massive first mover advantage, esp. In places like s. Korea.

I personally find LoL to be way more forgiving in terms of failing your lane but still being useful. People in general have been nicer to me on LoL than on Dota. That said, I rarely play with a group of friends but I'd expect that to have a huge impact on enjoyability.

hey TL
I sometimes play board games online with people on VASSAL (free but clunky engine) or Tabletop Simulator (steam game thing with community-made modules). I think games particularly suited to teamliquid would be things like Battlestar Galactica, but we do some shorter and lighter games like 7 Wonders, Lords of Waterdeep, or whatever someone wants to play.
Only requirements are (1) do not be a jerk to people and (2) if you commit to a time to play make sure you can play at that time! If you don't know how to play a game then we teach.
If you also like board games and would want to join sometime PM me? I'm not on this site as often anymore so don't feel sad if I don't respond for a week or something.
